Oops.. Ok, take a breath. Everything will be fine! Get an appointment with an OBGYN soon, and they will help you have a healthy pregnancy. You can wait to tell your husband until the pregnancy is confirmed by the doctor if you want. I know I couldn't keep such a thing on the hush hush...

We talk about food addiction but not....
Berry78 replied to kimberb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lol! If it makes you feel better, I read an account of someone that was like 5-10 years out and is maintaining because she weighed everyday. She had a range to stay within, and changed things up if she went over or under the range by a pound. But, I'm sure that worked for her because she looked at the scale with her head, not heart. (So when seeing a higher #, it is... ok I need to do xyz! rather than see the #, and start seeing herself as a failure). -

Thanks for the article, definitely good to know! -
Shicks, you need after care. With your surgeon's office or your family doctor can order bloodwork that checks for vitamin levels. That bloodwork will show what you are low in and what you need to supplement with. Talk to a doc!

I agree that vomiting every day is not a normal, expected consequence of the surgery. It is either due to a complication or behavioral. (A little at first should be expected though). The idea of reversing a bypass really shouldn't play a large roll in the decision. Reversals almost never happen. Ultimately, it is your body, your decision. Do make sure your decision is FOR YOU, rather than AGAINST THEM. -

Am I eating too much???
Berry78 replied to Merm12210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bread, for you, might be a slider food. That means you can eat more of it than you would think. It just sliiiddees down without feeling the restriction. -
You are going to have to sit down and plan out 3 meals and 1 snack at very specific times. For example, eat at 8, 12, and 6, with a snack at 3. Stay away from food at other times, but keep drinking your sugar free beverages. If you are eating every 2 hours, you have no time to drink! (Think about it.. 30 minutes before, plus 30 minutes for the meal, plus 1 hour after with no liquids). You are doing what is called "eating around your sleeve" eating more frequently and not waiting to drink... I'll bet you aren't getting 64oz of water either If you are truly uncomfortable, you may have too much acid, or some inflamation. Talk to your doc and nut. You can do this!

Cost is the biggest factor. The reputable surgeons have a system in place that makes travelers feel comfortable.

Eating too much is NOT cool
Berry78 replied to trenth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Baby spoons, and put the spoon down between bites. It should take 20-30 minutes to eat 3oz, so you can imagine how slow that has to be! -
Some people choose to chew it after they heal. As always, it is best to follow your surgeon's protocol on this. Dr.s usually don't like it because if it were to be swallowed by accident, could result in a blockage. Also, the act of chewing gets the stomach ready to receive food.... creating acid, hunger, etc. Personally I don't chew much now, so won't miss it.

A good surgeon to look at is Matthew Weiner. He is in Michigan, and has a bunch of youtube videos. If any surgeon is gonna be pro-vegan, it would probably be him. And if he isn't, then it is worthwhile to find out why. Good luck! -
To go along with the baby stomach theme, don't forget your baby utensils! Tiny bites, and wait a bit between. Measure your food since your stomach nerves may not be up to the task of alerting when full.

Ok, I'm glad you are keeping some down. Did you try gasX? Able to walk? Try some different body positions to try and move the gas around so it can escape. I'm sure the doc will have more suggestions.. -

Berry78 replied to mmello2@me.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely! Anyone that can't consume at least 40oz/a day of liquids should contact their surgeon. Has it been this way from the start, or did it get worse?
