    Tanning post op

My concern is UV rays on the incision areas. Maybe keep those spots covered.

    Burning pain help!!!

At only 3 weeks out, maybe it is too soon for acidic foods. You also have other things going on, so do keep close contact with your surgeon's office. Glad it sounds like you are doing better. Are you still taking your heartburn meds? (I assume you were prescribed acid meds for the first couple months...)

Slipped up on pre op diet

Hopefully you mentioned the indescretion.... Gosh, it's coming quick! Good luck!

Slipped up on pre op diet

For all those still preop... Please look at the calendar well ahead of starting the preop diet. If you see a special day falling during the diet phase, please celebrate early! Yes, no sense crying over spilled milk, but let's practice putting the lid on the container Remember, today was tomorrow and will be yesterday. Therefore, you can control yesterday by what you do today. (But only starting today).

    Urine

Keep an eye on it. If it starts looking more red or brown, let the nurse know. Brown means you need fluids, red could be a bit of bleeding (from infection or even the catheter poked you a bit). Either way, should get better, not worse, especially if you can get those fluids down. Good luck!

    3 weeks post-op nausea

I don't have any answers, but wanted to wish you well, and hopefully the surgeon's office can shed some light. [Hugs]
  7. I missed the fact that you ride the bus (my bad).. so I see that it isn't just the time spent in the store. Is there a store within walking distance to your residence?
  8. Plan for 8 weeks. Either stock up prior to surgery (my recommendation), or find someone else to do it (like above). Even if it is delivered to your door, you still have to bring it inside and store it. Thus my recommendation to stock up. Put kitty litter and cat food into large covered trash cans, so you will have a 2 month supply ready to go. Stock up on bottled sugar free drinks. This might go badly since you might not like some after surgery, so you need a variety. Also, walking after surgery is super important, so do try and come to terms with going out more frequently for shorter trips. (A small bag every day would get you out of the store quicker!) Think about it. If you now spend 60 minutes in the store while stocking up, how about changing it to 6 ten minute trips? (Or 6 seven minute trips, so you spend LESS time!). Some grocery stores could have your items already picked out for you if you call ahead with the list. A smaller store will get you out quicker too.. if there is one available.

    Filter for BMI over 54

Google "vena cava filter" It should help!

    Gas and bloating

The painkillers they gave you in and around surgery made you comfortable the first 2-3 days. Once that wears off, you start feeling the actual results from the surgery. I would imagine day 4 or 5 would be the worst, then start getting better. This varies, I'm sure..
  11. You've lost almost 60lbs in 2 months? CRAZY!!! You look great!!!!

    Stressed! Help!

Wow Your plate is most definitely overflowing. With all those hernias, it may be that your body is a bit malnurished, making it harder to heal. Are you taking your vitamins and getting protein? After antibiotics it is important to take probiotics. Those are the first things that would be good to work on. Talking to a counselor might help your overwhelm. [Hugs] Hope you start feeling better!

Odd words of wisdom from Mom.

I am preop, but yes, that is for real!

    Problems are problems

Just mention it to the surgeon. I seriously doubt it will be a problem. Just don't get gung ho AFTER surgery

    Gas and bloating

Gas x strips and walking. Good luck!

    I just broke down...

I also like that approach, BUT it is easy to lose track. What about making the exceptions on major holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. That way they can be planned for and looked forward to

    Children & surgery

My 13 year old made me sign a contract that if I die, she gets a purebred kitten and an Alienware computer. I had no trouble signing it, because I wouldn't be there! Lol.

    Pain Medicine Malabsorbtion

Are there pain patches? Bypass the bypass..
  20. I wouldn't panic. As long as it was stored appropriately, nothing should have changed. After all, they are expected to last for years inside you! But, if you are not experiencing restriction, it may be a good time to think about pulling it and possibly going with a sleeve or bypass. I doubt there is an emergency for removal though, so you have time to figure it all out.

    Post Op Exercise???

Walking (fast) can get your heart rate up. Might help with the anxiety. Don't start lifting weights until the go ahead from doc.
  22. As soon as I hear heartburn, I think RNY bypass. Your surgeon will probably say the same thing, or at least bring it up. While you are researching, take a gander at the bypass. Even if you go with the sleeve, it is possible you will convert later. Not 100%, but possible.
