  1. Ultimately, whether you can eat one or two cups of food doesn't matter. You are now eating one to two quarts, so there will be a drastic reduction. The bigger question is why it matters whether you put 3 ounces of steak on your plate, or 12. Either way, you are there, enjoying the atmosphere and conversation. Does it really matter the size of your plate?
  2. Anne tends to be a little excitable. She means well Gerd does tend to be a good reason to strongly consider a RNY bypass. Ultimately, this is a huge decision... right up there with family size, occupation choice, spouse selection, etc. Take your time researching and deciding your course. One key decision helper is to reflect on the number of times you have attempted weightloss before. Those undergoing surgery have tried their best, multiple times, and couldn't keep it off. They can't face another attempt that is doomed for failure. If you have a thought that you really didn't try that hard, and are up for another attempt, then by all means, try on your own first. The surgery isn't going anywhere. A couple years won't make that much difference. Good luck!

    Itchy skin all over ?

Could be dry skin or an allergy. Think back to when the itching started. Did you begin new medicine or supplements? Change soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, or cosmetics? Having more trouble getting enough to drink? Do you have a visible rash? Try a good lotion for a day or two. If it doesn't help, definitely see a doctor. Of course if you start swelling, getting hives, trouble breathing, call an ambulance.

    Tired [emoji42]

I am in the same boat preop. Walking even short distances wears me out.
  6. I thought of one! I have a beautiful watch that stopped working and doesn't fit anymore. I'll get it repaired at goal weight

    Post-op body image

I should add.. when doing your mirror work, make sure to concentrate on positive affirmations. There is no perfect body, and yours has been through the ringer. So you have a bit of a tummy.. so what?! You are healthy, and likely don't have swimsuit model aspirations. You are beautiful! Embrace it!

    Post-op body image

Body image is a huge hurdle for most of us on the board I dare say. When we are/were at our heaviest, we had no idea that we were THAT heavy! When we lose weight, we still see the fat in the mirror. The best thing to do during and after weightloss is to spend plenty of time in front of mirrors and the camera. This is not vanity! You have to relearn what you look like! Other people look in a mirror 365 times a year, experiencing very few changes during that time. They have looked a couple thousand times over 5 years (and most people only age a bit in that time). Even if we look in the mirror every day during the first year of weightloss, every day is different. So when you get to goal weight, you are essentially starting from scratch. Identities aren't built in a day. Give it some time... but not passive time.. put some thought and effort into it! Did something happen 2 weeks ago to make you suddenly see things differently? Something someone said, or how a piece of clothing fit?
  9. I don't have friends or co workers. I live with my MIL, and told her, so of course now the whole world knows I will be seeing some of my extended family 3 months post surgery for 5 days. Not sure if/what to tell them. Guess I'll see where I'm at at that point. I don't care one way or another if they know after the fact. Don't want to invite nay-sayers beforehand.

    Binge eating

I am so sorry While you aren't caught up in the whirlwind of emotion, it would be good to put a constructive outlet in place. Make a plan. Heavy physical work helps me (I have anger issues). Look for something that you can do for a couple hours that will leave you better than you started, and no longer having the need for self sabotage. Sitting and eating is a very passive activity that leaves you feeling worse than when you started. Something like going to the gym gives you an outlet that helps you feel better about yourself. (Look, I walked farther on the treadmill, or lifted 5 more pounds than last week). If the gym doesn't appeal, there are so many activities... arts, crafts, puzzles, reading, volunteering... [Hugs] You will find your way!

    Daily Vomiting

The doctor hasn't checked for strictures or ulcers? Are you able to keep down liquids? Heartburn and reflux with a rny bypass? You sound miserable, but more info is needed.

    Low blood sugar

You will need to eat 4-5 times a day, protein first, veggies, and complex carbs. Try to stay away from fruit and simple carbs. Aim for 1200cal if you haven't been eating that many. Of course have orange juice on hand to bring up a low blood sugar, then follow with a regular meal. Glad you are seeing the doctor. Let us know what he says.
  14. Outside... I guess I'm confused. Leggings are the devil, but you would only have bought workout leggings. Are there different types of leggings?

    2 months today

Sorry you had such a rough start Glad you are now feeling better! Ginger ale... not just for morning sickness! Do you drink it flat?

    Sleeve for non overeater?

I don't think anyone should consider the band. I think more are removed every day than placed. Too many complications. I think the sleeve is becoming the main go-to procedure. For those that already have acid reflux, the RNY bypass would be better. A good surgeon's opinion will be the most helpful for your particular situation.

    Inverted T tummy tuck

Prepare yourself for a prolonged recovery. I swear the nips and tucks are rougher than the bariatrics! You'll do great! Congrats!

    Protein bars and carbs

I like the net carb system because fiber is so lacking in our diets that to reject a low sugar bar due to high fiber content would be counter-productive.
  19. You'll find that everyone has different diets.. preop and post op. So many variables between surgeons! And, each surgeon probably makes it different between patients based on individual BMIs.

    Dumping

Definitely let your surgeon know. They may want you to take a test to be sure you didn't hurt yourself. At the very least, you need to go back to thin liquids for a couple days to give your stomach a rest.
  21. I also think the revision is a good idea for you. Even if you want to take more time considering, I highly recommend you get the band removed. It isn't helping, and it will likely cause complications down the road (like slippage, etc).
  22. My tat is on my upper arm. Very few people know I even have one.
  23. I thought this was going to be a post about hemorrhoids 8-)

    Weightlifting questions.

I plan to ease back into the gym after... no pain meds required yes, won't be winning any toughman awards, but think I'll survive
  25. This would be a good poll question. Yes, I had a 33 BMI when I graduated from high school.
