At only 2 weeks out I wouldn't worry about it. Just mention next time you have a regular visit. Have fun with the crunchy coldness!

Get your fluids up. Could try flat diet ginger ale and peppermint tea. Probiotics and fiber will help with bowel regularity. Protein takes a ton of liquid to digest, so increasing fluids might help. Milk, if tolerated, can give both. Protein also needs acid to digest, but then too much acid causes problems. Any sense whether you have too much or little acid? Apple cider vinegar could be helpful. I'd dilute it in plenty of water or it would set you on fire. Of course, your doctor might have other ideas. Hope something helps!

Eating Crap And Still Losing - Utterly Lost And Confused....Game Changer!
Berry78 replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How much loose skin do you have? If it is a lot, you actually may be at goal weight. Your sudden craving for simple carbs is your body's way of telling you it has started coming close to running out of reserves. *possibly* The weight loss could be muscle losses if you aren't eating protein as well. Eat protein, green vegetables, and add starchy veggies. Potatoes and sweet potatoes, winter squash, beans, lentils, etc. Start with 50g of carbs, and increase by 5-10 grams a day. Doing this methodically should tell you where your sweet spot is. You might get up to 100g or 150g a day. Watch your weight, appetite, energy levels, etc. Foggy head might mean you need more vitamins too. Good luck! -
1 month post-op & I had alcohol. I want experienced feedback please!
Berry78 replied to Sleeved_G's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The stomach still has open wounds until 8-9 weeks out. Personally I wouldn't pour alcohol into an open wound! Granted stomach acid is more caustic, but still... why take a chance? -
What types of foods aren't bothering you? As always, keep your gallbladder as a possibility in your mind. Have you been having regular BMs? Getting enough fluids?
-
At 3 months, that is a problem. See your doctor.

Great! Thanks guys. I definitely plan on waiting 6 months or a year to make sure I'm healthy. My Iron normally runs a bit borderline low, so I'll pay extra attention to that.

Sorry you didn't have a reply to this. Good luck during your procedure! You'll be fine!

Warning eat your protein/vitamins!!!!! 8mths post op Gastric bypass
Berry78 replied to curlysue86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As to the odor question... I sat in a small office for 2 hours next to a bypass patient (12 years out). She was normal bmi, and no odor. Possibly they are referring to gas or skin infections. -
Am I crazy why am I hungry, depressed, not feeling full.....
Berry78 replied to KC Angelica's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your stomach had the nerves cut, so it will be numb for a number of weeks. It is very important to measure your meals during this time so as to not hurt yourself. Liquids go down easier/faster, but make sure you don't overload there either. As for the hunger, perhaps it is "head hunger". That is much more common at this phase than actual hunger. Or you could be the rare bird that is actually hungry... Things should improve as time goes on and you can eat real foods in a couple months. In the meantime, keep up with your liquids and try not to hang around the cooking if it can be avoided. Good luck! -
I have one, and although is does blend super smoothly, there are irritating things about it. I was thinking of trying out a different brand, if I can scrape together the dough.

50+ lbs gone but still fit in old jeans?
Berry78 replied to CrowMilk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, this is how I got over 300lbs without realizing it. I wear the same size/style of trousers all the way from 250lbs to 308lbs. (Basically 60lbs!) I did notice my t-shirt size went up from 2x to 3x. The good news is it won't take nearly as much weight for the next size down. (For me, about 25lbs). Good luck! -
You are still in the healing phase.. so it should be getting better over the next couple months. Doesn't hurt to examine the source of your carbs either...
-
Since you reached your goal weight, have you added back in new carbs? It might be you have to experiment to find which carbs do this to you. Or drink 1/2 cup of coffee as an afternoon pick-me up. That is really a bandaid solution to what is probably dietary though.

3 days out, remorseful, worried and depressed
Berry78 replied to Jamesarwin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This journey is going to have a lot of ups and downs. The first week or two is definitely a down due to all the pain! Once you are healing, you'll start feeling better. It is a good time now to decide what parts of your weightloss journey you want to use as reward/motivation. Almost everyone uses the scale to prove their surgery was the right decision. The problem with that is there are frequently days (even weeks or months) where the scale won't budge. During those times, it is super easy to get demoralized, second guess the decision, etc. I'm getting my sleeve in three weeks. So I'm trying to decide whether I let the scale tell me I'm doing a good job, or do something else. I'm quite unfit right now. Walking half a mile wears me out. I would love to be able to jog 5 miles without stopping. Lofty goal! But so is losing 150lbs. Dietary goals are to learn to cook new, healthy recipes. Get excited by vegetables and learning to use cauliflower instead of bread. During the immediate postop period work on taste testing various fluids to see what my new tummy likes. It is easy to get mired in the misery of the now. Try to keep focusing on goals, so you'll know what your next step is when you get there. You'll do great! Good luck! -
You haven't blown anything. But I do think it is time for you to create new goals beyond what the scale says. I imagine you are working out.. so it is time to concentrate on your speed, distance, weight lifted, etc. Also concentrate on establishing and maintaining a healthy diet. Include the occasional snack as a planned event, so your calories are still on track.

Do NOT drink until at least 9 weeks out. It would probably be best to wait 3-6 months or more. Type.. is whatever doesn't make you deathly ill. Keep in mind that 1 drink post surgery equals 2-3 drinks before. People have died from relatively low consumption, and plenty of patients end up transferring addictions and become alcoholics. Please be extra careful.

I'm sorry to hear she has to leave so soon. At some point, hard choices have to be made, and one is to stay away from the hospital at night. The hospital staff needs to figure out how to care for your Mom so you can rest. I almost had a nervous breakdown caring for a family member in the hospital around the clock for a few weeks. And I was healthy! If you don't take care of yourself, there will be nothing left of you to help her. Like in a plane going down, put your oxygen mask on first before helping others. I'm sorry you are in this position. It will all work out in the end. [Hugs]

Dealing with comments like "You're too thin!" and "You're not going to lose much more, are you?"
Berry78 replied to WillWorkForShoes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When figuring out goal weights, keep 2 things in mind: 1. Extra skin has weight. If a healthy BMI = 140lbs, most bariatric patients probably have 5-10 pounds of loose skin. So the patient is equally healthy at 145 or 150. 2. Most patients gain back about 10lbs after reaching goal. So if your ultimate goal is 140, try to get to 135, and don't panic when the scale gets back to 145. Long story short.. have a 10 pound goal range instead of a magic #. -
Let your sister do the hard work while you recover. I doubt your sis wants to see you in a hospital bed!
-
See if you can get bags of fluids through an IV multiple times a week. If you are hydrated, it might shed light on what else can be done to get you feeling better. Check on your gallbladder, check for anything wrong in the sleeve, try different sources of protein in case there is a sensitivity... Hope you get to feeling better soon!
-
Sorry to hear about you being sick Hope it's just a bump in the road and you'll be better real soon!
