My favorite is called Fiber Smart by renew life. I get it from my chiropractor. I was just able to add it to my diet two days ago. 24 hours after taking the first scoop, I had my first unassisted BM! It comes in powder and capsules. I use the powder, mixed with my sweet chocolate vitamins and coffee and/or milk... and it tastes like chocolate oatmeal. Yum! Takes at least an hour to get the 12oz down. My vitamins are GNC women's ultra mega.

You probably won't eat them for a couple months, but once you are on a normal diet.. I love that stuff too!

Is it just me or does anyone else have "hollow" days?
Berry78 replied to AGreenEyedWolf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My plan allows oatmeal, cream of wheat, and grits the 4th week after surgery. I haven't tried any since I don't have the room.... but it is permitted, as are fruits, veggies, peanut butter, etc. (Pureed) I guess some practices like patients to resume a normal diet as early as possible. -

Oh Lordy! Increase those calories! Minimum of 1000/day. 1200+ probably would be better with that much exercise! -
You poor thing! Other than keeping in contact with your team, I don't know what you can do. *sending quick healing vibes~~

I have been comparing post op diets from different surgery centers, and even the maintenance portions vary. Johns Hopkins recommends eating 3 meals and two snacks (one snack is just a cup of milk). Baha Bariatrics recommends 3 meals and no snacks. My pre-op self eats constantly, although I have eaten anything from 2 -5 meals a day while dieting before with good (albeit temporary) results. What do y'all do? Sent from my SM-N920R4 using the BariatricPal App

Now that I'm 3 weeks post op, my surgeon has me eating 6 times a day. Still trying to work the kinks out.

Start drinking some calories guys. Not just protein shakes either. White sugar isn't helpful, but fruit can be, and maybe things like pinto beans and potatoes.

Wait at least 8 or 9 weeks. 12 would be better.

The oils I buy are olive, coconut, peanut, and real butter. Milk, yogurt, cottage cheese are all full fat. I plan on settling into a low carb lifestyle... not really full keto, but will aim for 65g/day. I've tried before, but feel my sleeve will make it possible.

My goal is to lose the Oxford English dictionary, but so far I've lost the cheese.... Lol.

Does this seem right?

Average weight loss for females is about 15lbs the first month, 10lbs a month for the next 5, and tapering down from there. You are doing great! -
No worries, she'll show up soon. Yes, she was sleeved, but is doing fabulously!

This was confusing to me as well, but my nut provided weight guidelines, and I'm finding using a scale is quite simple and accurate. I'm still in purees, so I have a little bowl, zero out the bowl, put the food in it, then heat if necessary.

Need list of high protein foods

Okios tastes good, but sends me to the toilet. Tastes are such an individual thing. I recommend spending 15 minutes in the yogurt section comparing brands. Those that say they contain live and active cultures will help with gut health. Maybe grab a handful of different small containers to do a taste test... -
What Were (or Are) Your Pre-Op WLS Requirements?
Berry78 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had insurance that would cover it, but there were too many hoops. I chose to self pay in Mexico. Had I not had the ability to afford Mexico, I would have gone through the hoops, probably. Would have delayed the surgery by a year. As it was, I just had a two week diet, and chose my date. -
I never had a psych eval. But depending on what the definition of binge eating is, I probably did it every meal preop. I never was abused either. I liked to feel full.
-
Honestly, it would be cheaper to make a preop trip to Tijuana to "check things out", and use Dr. Illan, then to go anywhere in the US. If he still didn't want Mexico, at least you get a vacation out of it!

Do I need a wheelchair... what about protein for flights?
Berry78 replied to AK_Bookworm's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was sleeved on a Monday. Wednesday, I walked a mile. Thursday I was on my feet for most of 8 hours. Friday had my flight home, 3 hours at the airport, 5 hours on the plane. Went shopping at Walmart for 45 minutes after getting off the plane. -

Cottage cheese, greek yogurt, nuts and beans, pureed or chopped meatloaf, chicken pot pie type filling, tuna or chicken salad, eggs, soft cheeses, baked or boiled fish -
I'm 3 weeks post op, and all I can think of is getting in my food and fluids. It's a full time job! I think it will be a relief when things become more normal with meals. I think we all imagine food will not exist after surgery, but it couldn't be further from the truth. I find since I'm not hungry, I can take the time to cook a nice meal for the kids. I'm not stuffed, so it doesn't sicken me to have to cook for my son an hour after we ate (he has unusual dietary needs). In other words, I feel normal now in a way that I couldn't have anticipated... and I didn't realize how abnormal things were before!

12 days post op = struggling
Berry78 replied to bones_girl206's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, so I've lived off of milk and home made broth. Tomorrow I start purees in earnest, and that will go much better! I've been lucky to not be sick, probably because I didn't push all those fake things. Oh, and Siggies drinkable yogurt or kieffer is da bomb. -
Prevention of sagging skin workouts???
Berry78 replied to Christina.Rose's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Yes! You can't target fat loss, but you can target muscle building. When you go to a gym, the machines frequently show the muscle groups worked on that machine. -

I'm almost 3 weeks out. I've been using enemas every couple days. I like enemas for their immediate results. I simply plan to stay on the toilet for 20 minutes, and I'm good to go! Last night I drank smooth move tea at bedtime. Woke up at 5am and had to stay near the toilet for two hours. Uncomfortable cramps! Had good results, but am looking forward to adding fiber (my plan recommends fiber after 3 weeks). My favorite fiber supplement turns thick in the cup like oatmeal.. so have to wait until oatmeal is allowed.
