All of that worrying for nothing... I got approved
Krisbell replied to Krisbell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They submitted everything on March 1st. I got approved yesterday, so it took 6 days. -
Sure enough, it was them telling me I had been approved. Surgery date is March 24th.

Frustrated doesn't even begin to describe how I'm feeling right now. I got a call from my surgeons office, saying that they didn't have November's weigh in of my 6 month visits. Well I was going for my weigh ins at the end of every month and it fell on thanksgiving and my dr's office was closed, so I didnt get to see them til 12/2 and I continued like normal at the end of December. Surgeon's office says that insurance will deny me and I almost start crying because if thats the case this would be my third time having to start over because something hasnt been done right. I called BCBS AL and they told me that they couldnt give me the answer I needed because there is such strict guide lines to follow but because it was within a week of time of where I usually do my weigh ins that they suggested I still have it submitted and that my primary write a letter stating that it was holidays and they were closed and that was the first available app they had. I'm so upset because now Idk whether it's going to be approved or not. Has anyone been in a similar situation??

Has anyone got a surgery date before insurance approval? If so, does that mean the doctors office are pretty confident that you will be approved? Has it happened to anyone and then obstacles came your way?

Who has Youtube channels? I love watching them and hearing your experiences, it really helps me through my journey. I'm also thinking about starting a channel, but I don't want to until I get my insurance approval.

So, I'm married, I've been married to my husband since October 2015, but I have been with him since 2008. I've not had the surgery yet, but this is something that bothers me about when I become post op. My husband understands and supports why i want and need the sleeve, but he says he really doesn't want me to have it, because he thinks i'm fine the way i am and he says he's afraid it will change me. I want it to change me, but not in a bad way. his stepmom had the bypass a few years ago and she ended up losing a lot of weight and cheating on his dad, but there were problems in that marriage before she had the surgery. I think he's afraid that I will feel good about myself and we will end because of that. It really makes me nervous because I want to feel good about myself and I don't want the attention of someone checking me out, but at the same time, I've never really had that so I don't know how it will make me feel, but most of all, I want this surgery so that I will be healthy and so my husband and I can try to start a family, he knows all of this, but even though he says he supports me, he still is iffy about me having it...but he also says that it has nothing to do with his dad and stepmom but more of he doesn't want me to be sick all the time after it. So my question is, how is your marriage or relationship since surgery and was your significant other iffy about it at first too, and if so, how are they now?

Hi guys, I was just wondering what I should expect with nutrition classes. I have mine on 2/28 at Brookwood Hospital in Al. I know all places are different, but it would make me feel better to kind of have an idea of what to expect. They gave me a book about the surgery and some topics they may touch on, and I've read the book 20 times front to back and I guess it's not making me feel better because I'd rather someone who has been through it talk to me. This is the last thing I have to do before they submit everything to my insurance. So, fingers crossed that I can get approved. The sooner I can have surgery, the better. Thank you guys, reading things here have made me feel so much better, i feel like i have a family in all of you, even if i don't say much, i sincerely thank you all and i think you are all amazing for everything you have done and accomplished. -Kris

I just finished my 6 month supervised diet and weigh ins. Today is my appointment with my surgeon and hopefully today, I will have an idea of whats coming next. I've already done my psych eval and that went smooth. I know that my surgeon wants me to do some cardiac testing and a stress test, i'm a little nervous about both of those because I'm been extremely stressed lately. I know I will also have to meet with a NUT and what she called an exercise counselor? I'm so nervous though. I've got 2 insurances and I'm so scared that they both may end up denying me. I've worked so hard to get where I am and I can't afford to do self pay. I keep telling myself that if its meant to be, it will happen, but that doesn't stop my nerves from going on a roller coaster ride. I just needed to vent.

My nerves are going crazy.

Everything went well. I have a NUT apointment on 2/28 and my stress tests are next Thursday! After I complete those is when they will submit for insurance. -

Krisbell posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all! I'm new here and I've got a few questions, but first I wanna introduce myself. My name is Kristen. I'm 25 years old. My BMI is a little over 40. I have co morbidities but I don't think my insurance will cover them. I started my journey in December of 2015 and did the 6 month physcian led weigh ins, but I had to start over, because I was at a 39 BMI until my last weigh in and my surgeon didn't think my insurance would cover the surgery with my co morbidities, so she told me to maintain my 40 BMI and we would try again. I have my last weigh in tomorrow and I will be meeting with my surgeon again on Tuesday! I'm so excited but I'm so nervous. My co morbidities include: PCOS & Insulin Resistance but not diabetic or borderline Anemia IBS Hiershsprung's Disease Acid Reflux Hypotension My Questions are 1. I don't have any proof that my weight has been obese other than pictures, my surgeon said that that should work when being submitted to insurance, have any of you been approved with pictures instead of medical records plus the documented 6 month weigh ins? 2. How long from submitting to insurance did it take to get approved and then how long after that was your surgery scheduled? 3. Did anyone get approved without having the listed co-morbidities that insurance looks at? 4. Who all used Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, AL and what was your experience like? Oh, I have BC/BS of Al and BC/BS Anthem, but I'm not sure what state? Thanks for the help. -
@@Malin if you don't mind me asking, why didnt you make their requirments? My surgeon is supposed to submit to Bc/bc of AL next week for approval and I'm very nervous.

I don't have medical records but I have pictures and my surgeon said that they should be sufficient. I also have Bc/Bs of Al. Have they approved you yet? Who is your surgeon if you dont mind me asking?
