Smoked weed yesterday and my surgery is friday!
hmills653 replied to torriqurll's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to submit a urine the morning of surgery, but I think it was for pregnancy. -
I had a really hard time getting fluids in for the first few weeks and still don't hit 64 oz . I'm now 2 1/2 months out. But I get between 30-40 oz a day and feel good at that amount. I carry a water bottle with me always.

I was only allowed to walk for the first 6 weeks then I was cleared for anything.

Technically 6 1/2 weeks

I'm a nurse on a med surg floor. I took 7 weeks off.

Your feelings on hummus
hmills653 replied to gwbicster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think there's anything wrong with it but if you want to work towards tolerating meat, I did better with ground beef or mixing canned chicken with cream cheese or guacamole, or chicken thighs are very tender and fill you up easily. -
How long do we have to sip, sip, sip?
hmills653 replied to Buklova's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sipped for awhile but around 8 weeks I was able to chug about 6 oz if my stomach is empty. -
I went on vacation at 6 weeks but out was relaxing at the beach and was fine. But I had no energy at 2 weeks. At that point I was still trying to drink enough. I'd ask them if they can put you on the schedule for right after your trip.

Jealous of others on here
hmills653 replied to Mersh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose each meal wisely. But at 2 1/2 mos out I can tolerate anything I've tried. Saturday we went kayaking and I are one bite of my mom's peach cobbler. That was enough to make me happy and then ate my protein. I agree that I want to be able to eat "bad stuff" on occasion and within a reasonable amount. I will not allow myself to go crazy. -
I had my teen girls. But I was pretty good afterward. I just had gas pain and to sore to bend over. I'd say buy yourself some bottled water just in case also bc since surgery I can taste the chemicals more in my tap water and drink mostly bottled water now. If you tell your nurse that you'll be home alone maybe they can call and check in on you each day for a few days.

THE BIG NO NO's of what never to eat or drink after the sleeve.
hmills653 replied to 2017Warrior's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to avoid it until I got my fluid goal bc it could dehydrate you. I haven't had coffee or any caffeine since before surgery which was may 31. I actually don't miss it. I thought I would but I have a ton of energy. -
Period/menstruation delay
hmills653 replied to peanut2772's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started in the hospital right after surgery. -
I'm about as far out as you and can easily eat 2 eggs with a scoop of guacamole on them for breakfast.

I was told no rice bread or pasta. Every surgeon is so different and part of me wonders if they didn't just say this to keep us off the carbs a while longer. Did it feel good going down? -
Mashed potatoes are my friend but rice is my enemy
hmills653 replied to LifeIsAllGood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
pasta and rice I can go without. But I love potatoes. I actually ate some the other day after having dinner walked past them and took a scoop and no I wasn't hungry. Oh my stomach hurt so bad. There wasn't room for it. Why did I do it. I knew better. I will try to keep this memory of bad decisions for next time. -
wow. Sorry. I how they can figure this out for you. Are they considering some sort of alternative nutrition like tpn or tube feedings temporarily until you are able to eat?

Hello. I had sleeve on May 31. So glad I did. I'm feeling great and alot more active. I've had 3 people at work approach me with questions saying they've considered the surgery but didn't know anyone who went through it. I'm glad I did.

Struggling to walk with pain in my side
hmills653 replied to Jeaniered's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it gas pain? Is it new from what you were having in the hospital? Off course you want to walk but this early out they don't expect anything major, I was told to walk around the house every hour then as I felt better get out and walk around the block and build it up as you feel better. -
Pre-surgical liquid diet question
hmills653 replied to RDBrown71's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Its provably the diet. I had loose stools on the pre-op diet then constipation post op. I take stool softener about once a week too help now. At first I was taking 2-3 a day and milk of mag on occasion. It was horrible. But now it's pretty much figured itself out. I hope lol -
Anyone else uncomfortable with weight comments?
hmills653 replied to bbrown527's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First in law side of the family gathering today. My mother in law begins with talking about how pretty soon I'll save goodbye and arms will keep waving for another 10 mins. Then when I got my plate of food, which I'd say had a decent amount on it. A hot dog, some fruit and a scoop of potato salad (which I didn't eat). She says oh you must be a closet eater, you'll wait until everyone else is done eating then go clean off all of their plates. I looked up and said are you talking to me. She was like yeah. I felt so offended. I said no, I just can't eat as much after my surgery. Her husband had RNY so she knows. Then later she made another comment about, "I bet you do a lot of sneaking and stuffing your face now, huh." WTF. First of all really? If I wanted to stuff my face I wouldn't hide. What a total b***h. Like I said father in law had RNY 7 years ago so its not like she's naive to this subject. I wanted to say after 17 years of marriage you guys can't think of anything else to talk about but this. Uggggh. -
Gym or no gym, that is the question
hmills653 replied to AZBlackhawk's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can say when I did work out, I eat better bc I don't want to "ruin" what I just busted my @ss for at the gym. It's like no way. I'll eat something healthy, lol.
