Getting nervous
hmills653 replied to it's time 4 me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've completed everything on my list but my surgeon is taking the month of April for vacation (must be nice). So they're saying probably end of May for me. I understand the nerves. I'm worried about surgery as well as missing a month of work. It'll be worth the sacrifice in the end. -

They need to able to get a his oxygen reading on your finger. Nail Polish, especially reds make that difficult. -

Anyone heard of regaining skin elasticity?
hmills653 replied to itstimealready's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I saw some lotion with before and after pics but it was like over $100 and I'm not sure if you have to keep using it to maintain the firmness. I've been on pinterest to look up ideas. I haven't even had surgery yet lol but that has been a concern of mine. -

I'm a little concerned about the cost as well. My insurance pays 90% after I meet my deductible of $3100. Since I'm nowhere near this I'm hoping for the best. I do have an HSA. But I had so many medical expenses last year the money going in this year has still been paying me back from last year's claims lol.

My nutritionist told us if we don't get enough protein after surgery we could have hair loss. I hope I'm lucky enough to miss this one.

Dumping after sleeve 7 th Month any one
hmills653 replied to arfaiz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
From what I was told in class you need to watch high sugar content and don't drink with meals or within 30 mins of meals. This should help to prevent dumping syndrome. -
I was told no straws or carbonated beverages of any type after surgery because the air can stretch your pouch.

Talk to your doctor. Maybe you need an EGD. It could be a simple fixable issue.

And you probably feel pretty good already with 28#off.

I have completed all of my goals except for another 2 lbs to lose and my last supervised weight loss meeting this week. I'm getting nervous whether I'm making the right decision. I feel like if I could've lost the weight without surgery it would've happened. I know I'll feel better without the extra weight on my knees and my back. But as the time gets closer I worry about complications. I worry that maybe I should just stay the way I am. I'm just scared. It's not like this decision was made lightly either I debated for several years before making the inquiry. Any advise?

I do have arthritis in my spine and knees and hypertension and had a pulmonary embolism as well as sleep apnea. I know this will help and so look forward to that. I'm 42 and feel like an old lady half the time. I want to enjoy the rest of my life, be able to take the stairs without pain, and not be limited on clothing choices because they don't have it in plus size or else I have to pay three times as much for it at the specialty store. I'm willing to make sacrifices. Thanks for everyone's input.

Sleep apnea testing right now
hmills653 replied to JessNewGoals25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to wait about 3 weeks to find outI had sleep apnea. They called me to do the second sleep study with the cpap to get my settings. They said that I'm fine until I reach REM. Then my throat relaxes too much and closes off my airway. It's been 2 months since that study and I still don't have my cpap machine. I was finally able to talk to someone from the company the other day though and they said they have to get precert through my insurance company first then they'll call me to set up an appointment to get my machine. -
I find when I'm cleaning my house, doing laundry etc I can go all day and not even think about food because I'm busy. Until I either get light headed and think oh I haven't eaten today. Maybe find something to occupy your mind.

I'm in the pre op phase. My suggestion would be to reflect on how you feel now verses how you felt before worth the bad habits. See if there is a support group available. I go to meetings once a month. My psychologist told me not to wait for motivation because you will never be motivated to exercise so you just have to do it. Congratulations on how far you've come so far.

Discussing Post-Op worries relayed to the patient by patient's parents
hmills653 replied to Gabriel29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know when I met with my surgeon I told him which procedure I was interested in and why and then he confirmed whether he felt that was a good choice for me. I would tell your parents that you've reviewed the options that are available and between you and your surgeon there was a mutual agreement that this is the best choice for you. -
Are you becoming depressed. Sometimes with depression you feel like you don't have the motivation to do even little things like take your meds or eat. It could be seasonal. If you can't seem to kick it though talk to your doctor. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
