You may not realize you have comorbidity. Do you have your bp checked regularly? I had hypertension and didn't realize it bc I saw my dr once a year. After going more frequently a few years ago it was discovered. Have them do blood work to check your hemoglobin A1C if you haven't had this done. It was show your average range of blood sugars to make sure you don't have diabetes or pre-diabetic. Also the big one a sleep study I never would've thought I had sleep apnea but if you're tired during the day or feel like you don't sleep well this could be the cause. Any knee or back pain, an xray can show off there's arthritis or a herniated or wearing disc in your back. Sometimes you may have them and not even realize it. Worth looking into with your pcp.

The hospital I'm going through requires the medically supervised weight loss classes through their facility. I had already done a few months with my pcp but that didn't count. They went with my starting weight from first class and then at my 3 mos visit with the surgeon. I did 6 mos of classes prior to insurance submittal. I had to have a sleep study which I found out I do have sleep apnea, so I am using a bipap at night for that. I had to get approval from my cardiologist because I've had a blood clot in the past, he did a stress echo and all was good. I had the psych evaluation. An EGD. I think that's all. I got approved two weeks after submitting in March and I'm scheduled for May 31. I'm still gong to the supervised weight loss classes bc I want this to be a habit to continue after surgery. They have a weight loss support group every month after the class as well. There is no charge for these classes if you are having our have had surgery. They are so helpful amd informative. I wish you good luck. I just had a steroid injection in my knee for arthritis and am praying that after I lose the weight this will be a thing of the past as well.

    Being put on hold

It happens. I was king to gym and feeling good then had a PE a few mos later I sprained my ankle and it was so hard to get back to the good habits. You will when you're feeling better and maybe find yourself some motivational pics or quotes to help you.

    Excited & Scared!

That's great. 6# is wonderful. I say go for it, you're going to be just as nervous waiting six mos but you can always ask them to schedule you a mos or so later if you feel you need longer to mentally prepare.
  5. I was told the psych consult is only good for 3 mos.
  6. Wow. 6 mos. Seems like a long time. I have 2 weeks and to be honest I'm scared I'll be hungry.

    Pre-op RNY Journey

I started in October. Had appt with surgeon in December. Then had all preop appts done by March 1. After they submitted to insurance. It was about 2 weeks to approval and my surgery is scheduled for May 31. Good luck.
  8. I wonder if your pcp knowing about the procedure would be allowed to sign the papers. I know mine would probably tell me I'm crazy lol. She wasn't that on board with me having weight loss surgery either. I like her but she's very conservative with any treatments and I'm considering changing bit my surgery is May 31. Is like to be done with all of that before I look into a new doctor in case of complications she already knows me. I already know I'll need plastic surgery on my belly though.

Cutting out carbs makes you cranky as well.

You will probably need a sleep study, EGD, and psych appt for sure as well as medically supervised weight loss classes. But I know my doctor said that some preoperative appts had to be within 6 mos or 3 mos of surgery date. So wait on psych evaluation. But get a sleep study scheduled asap bc this takes the longest.

    Post op vitamins advise

For the calcium I was told 500 mcg 3 times a day at least 2 hrs apart. It's this the same amount in the one you take and do you know if it would be absorbed differently by taking at different times?

    Post op vitamins advise

I had tried a green juice vitamin energy powder from them last summer. It wasn't too bad tasting and I really did feel better while using it. I just wanted to save money so stopped buying it.

    Hey guys..

I'm scheduled for may 31 so I've been researching the reviews on the vitamins recently. They're just expensive...

    Tummy tuck or toning

So, my doctor told me that the insurance will help cover the cost of a tummy tuck if you are having medical issues from it. He said you would have to have seen the doctor and have it documented as you lose the weight that you are having redness, irritation or yeasty issues. Normally, I wouldn't go to my doctor for that as there are otc treatments but if I can get 90% of my procedure covered by my insurance I'll show you my under belly irritation lol. Does anyone know how long after surgery you can have a tummy tuck bc if I can have it around December after surgery end of May I've already met my deductible....

    Vitamins

I've been taking Flintstones complete pre-op as recommended by the nutritionist but I've noticed they make my stomach a little queezy so I worry it may be worse post-op

    MAY BUDDIES

May 31. But my approval letter says rny and hernia repair. When I first spoke with my surgeon we were planning on gastric sleeve. I'm not sure if it's an insurance thing or due to my hiatal hernia that they approved me for rny. Any ideas?

    No pre-op diet

I was told protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and either a pre made dinner such as healthy choice or 4 oz low fat meat and veggies. This is to be done the last 2 weeks prior to my surgery date

    I'm almost there!
