  1. Yes. I've been having trouble and taking it off at night because I'm like totally dry. Sometimes it even prevents me from falling asleep. I'll try increasing my humidity level and let you all know if it helps. I'm 2 weeks post op and sleeping like $h!t. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    TPN

I'm so sorry. It's horrible that we go through so much to be healthier and sometimes it just turns into something else. I will say a prayer for you that they can do something to help you. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Worried About Wife

The water is the biggest concern. I'm only 2 weeks post op and its hard. I still can't get down 64 oz in a day. I can say I fell food at around 30 oz a day. I'm worried about being able to drink when I go back to work. I'm a nurse and were not allowed to have drinks out of the break room and its hard to run back there for frequent sips. It's not unusual to go a 12 hr shift and only drink with my lunch, which is no longer an option. Suggest to her to carry done of the little 6 oz waters with her. They're small enough to throw in your purse or jacket pocket and pull out to sip more frequently. That's what I plan on trying. Just make sure she knows your just worried about her health. So is my husband, I understand. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

  6. I have a question about the vitamin schedule. I was told that I need to wait 2 hrs between each dose of calcium and the multivitamin. So I take a multi vitamin in the morning then surging the day every 2-3 hrs the calcium for 3 doses then the other multi vitamin at bedtime. But sometimes I forget the second vitamin. Is it ok to take both multi vitamins in the morning? Or does anyone have an easier routine? Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Surgery Wednesday

I think the main take away in terms of eating post op, is to make healthier choices, focus on nutrition, and not let yourself slip into the same bad habits that got us to our obese stage in the first place. My nutritionist says she doesn't expect you to never eat Doritos again. But if you say, I had a small bag of Doritos yesterday with my lunch, but I ate my protein first. That's better than not having any protein at all. Although we know we don't want to make that a new habit. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Can't win today

Hi. I had surgery 5/31. Same problem here. I can't take I that much. When I try it hurts like a stabbing in my stomach. The surgeons nurse over the phone was very form about how I'm not drinking enough and need to stop the pain meds and should be moving my bowels etc. I am taking sips as I can and pushing myself in a sense to keep getting sips in but it hurts to try and get 8 oz an hour. I saw the surgeon today and he said just keep trying and it will continue to get easier. He also said if I'm in pain and med to take the pain meds then do so. The nurse told meI needed to take milk of mag. I did and woke up at 3 am with watery stools. Miserable. I don't think I've had enough to need to go just yet. IDK. But if it helps whenI feel like I've drank too much and have that stabbing and pressure in my stomach, I'll get up and walk and it seems to help some. I figure if I do what I can and listen to my body if I feel like I'm getting dehydrated I'll call my doctor. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. They have me prescriptions for pain and nausea meds to get filled a few days prior to my surgery, so I'd have them just in case. I've used them but it's not been that bad for me. Het some gas x strips, that was the worst part for me. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Tummy tuck or toning

I think now that the insurance would cover a panniculectomy if there's documented medical problems related to excess skin, not a tummy tuck. Sorry for the mis information Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. So I already have an apron and the surgeon said it will get worse after surgery. Does anyone know if I can do toning exercises to get rid of that our is a tummy tuck inevitable? I'm just hoping to not have to spend the money.
  14. I know how you feel. I was questioning whether this was the right choice. I was scared and more so the closer I got. I know that the weight loss will help my co morbidities. I also want "a fresh start". If that makes sense. In a few years my youngest will be graduating high school, I'm going to be a grandma, I've got another year of grad school. I fell like losing the weight will help me feel better, have more energy, and increase my self esteem (which isn't horrible to begin with). I'd be happy asI am the rest of my life because of what I have but feel that this would help improve it. It's like a new chapter of my life will be starting and this is just part of it. I know my parents and husband would tell me they support me but I don't have to do this. I know they are just worried for me. Everyone at work was surprised also, they were like I don't think you need that. Well, I've made many changes over the years and have lost alot of weight from my highest. This will help me to reach my goal sooner rather than over another 10 years. Meantime the extra weight is just making my joints worse, etc. Cold feet are normal, I just had surgery 5/31. Just think about why you want to have it and I wrote it down so I could read it when I questioned whether to go through with it, even while laying in the bed waiting to go into surgery hearing my dad's voice in my head saying saying, its not too late to change your mind if you don't want to go through with this. July Sleevers!!!

I wad told that the insurance company wants to see that you are able to lose weight under medically supervised classes that would make it more likely to stick the changes needed after surgery. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Bypass Vs. Sleeve?

I was just sleeved on 5/31 So too soon to tell weight loss just yet. I chose the sleeve because of not having to reroute the intestines. My starting weight was 256#. I have arthritis in my knees and spine, hypertension, pulmonary embolism a few yrs ago, asthma, sleep apnea, and gastritis. I waa having a really hard time walking after I had to stop taking my NSAID prior to surgery. My ortho doc gave me a nerve block in the knee that was bothering me the day before surgery so I could walk post op without any problems. I'm glad for that I can say it really worked great. Now I was a bundle of nerves prior to surgery and woke up with horrible sharp gas pain in my shoulder. The first day in the hospital post op, I thought "what the hell did I do to my body" I know this is short term pain and discomfort (the gas is worse than incision pain). I get my drain out on Thursday. My surgeon had asked me which I was considering bypass or sleeve then told me I would be a candidate for either so we did the sleeve and hiatal hernia repair. I do feel better each day. I'm taking some time off work and couldn't imagine going back to soon you really need the time to get your fluids and protein in. The timing works as well because I have 2 teen girls at home to help me out and they're on summer break right now. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    True Test

We're going to Florida on the gulf side when I'm 6 wks post op. We rented a house so that it would easier to stick to dietary needs. Also, not knowing how I'm gonna feel since I just had surgery 5/31, I can just stay at the house and bee comfortable if I'm not up to other things. My one daughter who's going with is pregnant also, so another one of those who knows what her comfort level will be. We did decide to fly instead of drive because of the higher risk of blood clots after surgery and I live in Ohio. I was having allot of worries about not being able to go, but I think under the circumstances it should be fine. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Good. Yeah, it's nice to be home. Make sure you get your fluids in. I'm still not sleeping right which is why I'm on here at 4 am but first nightI got a full 5 hrs before the shoulder pain woke me up to go sit up on the couch so I'm not complaining to much. Can't wait for this drain to come out, when I went to the bathroom this morning without my abdominal binder it felt likeI tore a stitch from my drain. The dressing got all wet but I must've pulled on the stitch. The hardest part I had initially was getting in enough fluids and you really have to push yourself. If you can't then make sure you keep your surgeon updated so you don't get dehydrated. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

just had my surgery 5/31. I would not have felt up to going home that day. I actually stayed 2 nights in the hospital but everyone is different. Do you have to go the next day for a leak test or will they do it before you go home? Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I had mine 5/31. Feeling better today than I have been. So far I've gotten 52 oz between flavored water and protein shakes today. I have Greek yogurt worth my pills in the morning and then work on it throughout the day when I can't stand another sip of protein shake. Judy glad I'm able to get a much in now than the last few days. But keep thinking of pepperoni for some reason. Like I really want a pepperoni. Oh well, soon enough. Post Op Hell

I was sleeve 5/31 and had trouble getting fluids in as well. I felt too full. I'll share what helped for me but If still get a hold of your dr. Last day in hospital I was only about to get 8 oz water in. Today a few days later I'm getting 4 to 6 oz an hr. Including protein drinks and Greek yogurt. I feel like cold goes down better. I found a flavored water beverage very mild mango flavor with no calories etc. It goes down easier than regular water. I literally had to set a timer every 5 minutes and even though it hurt take a sip and reset the timer for another 5 mins. If I felt to full I'd get up and walk around and sip as I walked past my drink. I have the Amazon dot so I just told Alexa to set a timer for 5 mins. It was a really rough day but made such a difference. I think getting more fluids down is helping the gas to finally start moving as well. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. it's hard. I was sleeved Wednesday and it still hurts to swallow down liquids but that didn't mean starting at the chicken my daughter left on the kitchen counter want tempting. I just looked at out and walked away knowing this is only temporary. Soon we'll safely work up to real food again. I got calcium and vitamin D chews that taste like lemon and have to take 3 a day 2 hrs apart. This helps a little being able to chew some. I was told not to chew gum though because of you accidentally swallow it it could block your opening due to the swelling early on. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app
