I had surgery the 31st. How is everyone doing at this point? Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes. I was worried about surgery itself. But also have been taking sublingual biotin for months before surgery and still after. Ice liked at some things for saggy skin as well on Pinterest lol. Nerium Firm looks promising but super expensive. I'm hoping maybe out won't be too bad. I'm afraid to habe plastic surgery. My doctor told me that I will need to have the excess skin from my belly removed after I lose the weight 🙁 Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

2 days post- op and I need help!!!
hmills653 replied to NAK8825's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 weeks post op also. Same thing. I can get maybe half that in 1 protein shake a day spilt up at different times. I eat a Greek yogurt every morning with my meds. Before surgery my PCP told me to watch yogurt because they're also high in carbs, anyone else told that? Then something soft for dinner like the other day my husband got me pintos and cheese from taco bell, I was able to eat almost the whole dish. I fell good though, I don't feel dehydrated and I'm urinating fine. I think some of us just taker longer to get to different points. WhenI left the hospital I could only dip my tongue in the med cup of water, it hurt to bad to swallow a sip. The 3rd day I forced myself to drink a sip every 5 minutes. And if I felt sick from it I'd take a break for an hour. I think you need to trust how you feel. If you feel like you're not getting enough fluids cal your doctor. As a mom of four girls. I understand that you don't want to think about your daughter going through surgery. My oldest is overweight. I wouldn't recommend surgery to her but if she told me she wanted to go this route, I would support her decision. I'm not sure how far along in the process your daughter is but I'm sure she had stress over the decision. You'd be surprised how much your support would mean to her. Life is hard these days. Don't cancel her insurance, I will keep my girls on as long as possible. Your best response would be to accept her decision and help her to make the positive changes she'll need to work on such as walking, changing eating habits and go to a meeting with her so you can better understand the process. Imagine dealing with a major life changing decision without anyone's support. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

When will I feel normal again?
hmills653 replied to hmills653's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks. I'm on Omeprazole. I've been taking the premier protein because they are so high in protein and I feel like I can't get that much down yet. Maybe I should use the gas x more frequently and especially before bed. I hadn't thought of changing the shakes. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Right. Is it hard to believe that fat people can have better sex life's than some thin people. Or that fat people are actually mating lol Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app -

I got that from the girls I work with. It's like if they could spend one day onside my body. I hurt so bad from the extra weight on my joints I was getting injections and physical therapy for my knee. It's not all about fitting in those skinny jeans lol. you know, my doctor and nutritionist never said anything about stalls to my group. I learned a or then on here. I've actually gotten alot of good info from this site. They are all so different as well. My surgeon is all like of that's fine I'm not worried just keep trying. His nurse is like what did you tell the doctor, I would-be had you admitted for IV fluids, that's not good. Lol Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

How long were you off work?
hmills653 replied to alli.wakefield's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved with hiatal hernia repair on May 31. My doctor told me at least 4 weeks off but I work on a med surg flor and they don't allow light duty. The first week I was miserable and couldn't get fluids in. I couldn't imagine trying to do that at work. However if you have a desk job where you can have a drink to sip on frequently that will help. I'm feeling better this week but I'm not sleeping well and everything I do drains me. I still haven't been a nkle to meet my protein goal yet but getting close now thatI just started soft food yesterday. One of the girls that had surgery same day as me was out at the store 2 days out and said she felt great and went out to eat and had soup. It all depends on the person. We're both in our 40's, so it's not an age difference. I fell like if be fine to go to a desk job this week. I wish they'd let me fill in as secretary, but they won't. That's funny because I remember my 1 week post op appt. I was finally passing gas and it felt so good and I kept thinking I don't want to fart in the dr office but after all I've been through, I really don't want to hold anything in. It worked out and didn't have to embarrass myself lol. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Need Help With Hesitation Before Surgery
hmills653 replied to Redo2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was more nervous the closer the date got. May 31. I'm 2 weeks post op. I had years rolling down my cheeks as I was sliding over into the operating table . I remember apologizing for crying and one of them saying give her the rest of the fentanyl. Then it was over. I felt horrible and regretted it as soon as I got to my room and had to walk to the bathroom the first time. The sharp gas pain in my shoulder was the worst. They fill your abdominal cavity with co2 to work laparoscopically. Then every sip hurt and my stomach rumbled with gas ALOT. Stayed 2 nights in the hospital. When I went home I want sure I was ready. The other girls seemed to be feeling better and getting more fluids in than me. I questioned whether I may just be a "baby that can't handle pain in my old age." Then after going home and pushing myself a little more each day, I realized it would be fine. I had that gas pain in my shoulder for a week. I couldn't lay in bed flat or it was worse, so slept on the couch with pillow on side of my head. Today I started soft food. I had a scrambled egg and it was fine. I fell pretty decent. My suggestions, gas x strips, liquid Tylenol, generic colace and I like the convenience of the little bottles of water. Anytime something hurts or doesn't feel right I would get up and walk and it usually helped. Oh and when I went to my 1 week appointment to get my drain out, I was down 13 lbs. June sleeve buddies?
hmills653 replied to JustJulie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We're you on a liquid diet pre op and did you habe to do a colon prep prior to surgery? I was on liquids for 2 weeks then colon prep the day before surgery so I was pretty well cleaned out. Then didn't go for a week after surgery until I took milk of mag. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app -
It really does get better each day. I'm 2 weeks out now and when I first came home I did regretted having done this. Then of course my husband kept saying I told you that you didn't need to do this. That didn't help. But I'm feeling pretty decent now. Drink drink drink and don't let yourself get constipated be proactive in taking something. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

awesome labs. Measure yourself and record it. When I would try to lose weight many times I'd have drops in my measurements ling before seeing the scale move. But I wouldn't worry about losing after surgery. After all that's why you're doing it because of this struggle right here. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

personally, I told everyone that I speak to including co workers. But I'm closer to them working in the medical field some of them have even worked on the floor was on post op. Some may judge but that's ok. I know that this was my decision and most of them were very supportive. If you feel comfortable enough when someone asks you could say "I had surgery but I'm fine, thanks for asking". Keep it vague. Or for the amount of time it could be anything such as a badly sprained ankle. Or simply personal family business and I'd rather not discuss it. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Second Thoughts - Could Use Some Advice
hmills653 replied to d6g007's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Its normal to get cold feet as the time gets closer. I was sliding into the operating table with tears rolling down my cheeks praying to God that I made the right decision. I say keep your appt but start the diet and exercise commitment anyway, it can only help you. Make a journal of your thoughts, goals and pics so that after surgery if you feel like you're struggling you Vann look back and be reminded why you started this journey. Even though you have no co morbidity now at your age you are still causing allot of wear and tear on your joints. You don't want your knees and back shot at 40 yrs old. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app -
Don't be so hard on yourself. You've come this far, made it through the surgery. Focus on getting enough to drink. That may help with water weight and some hunger. I've read lots of people about gaining when they start eating solid food then they lose again. I'm only 2 wks out so not quite there yet. Don't lose faith.
