  1. I'm 5 wks and for the most part the nausea is gone. Sometimes certain foods and smells make me a little queasy but not excessive. A few days ago I stopped taking my multivitamins though, they were making me so nauseated that I would feel sick in Tyne morning thinking about taking them and had to take Zofran the other day. So I ordered the multivitamin patches and hopefully they'll work for me. I just couldn't tolerate them anymore for some reason.

    Yogurt question

I also find that mozzarella string cheese goes down easy and comfortable for me. I also can't do chicken but ground beef is ok such as chili and sloppy joe. I'm 5 weeks out.

    Yogurt question

I'd say if that's all you can tolerate its better than nothing. Try a few different kinds. The ones that I liked before surgery don't taste the same to me now. I did find I like the desert flavors like strawberry cheesecake but with teenage girls in the hose its hard to keep in the house. I bought vanilla Greek yogurt and its good and not too sweet and Greek yogurt is supposed to be higher in protein. But I just went to the store and bought several different ones and tried them.
  4. there's a website called realself.com that has info about plastic surgery. I'm no where near ready for anything yet. But my surgeon said I'll need a panniculectomy. I've thought about getting a mommy make over after I'm at goal. Although it's also a matter of insurance covering one vs out of pocket for the other. We'll see what the damage is in the end and maybe I'll be comfortable in my new body. I've had 5 children and I'm gong to be a grandma in January. I also worry about whether getting plastic surgery will give my daughters the wrong impression. I still have a 14 &16 yr old at home and don't want them to feel that outer beauty is that important to me that I would need to have surgery to alter my body. However I would love to get rid of the flab and feel good about looking at myself in the mirror and confident. We'll see what time brings.
  5. I'm 5 wks out and still not able to meet fluid or protein goals yet. I'm getting around 32 oz fluid. The problem is I get full when I eat and stay full so its hard to eat every couple hrs. I try to focus on goods with protein such as eggs, yogurt, cheese, protein shakes as tolerated.

    Is this normal?

In always a few lbs lighter after my period. I force myself to weigh no more than once a week.
  10. Congrats. At least you will both understand what the other is feeling and going through. I think it would be nice to be able to do it together.

I had tried a grilled chicken bowl, no rice, add guacamole. And enjoy it for a few meals.

    Gas pain

I had the same thing for a week post op. I used gas ex strips, they dissolve on your tongue. I had to sleep sitting up on the couch bc it was worse to try to lay flat. Walk walk walk. Heating pad. It just has to reason and pass through. Nothing really "got rid" of the pain though. I can promise you though that it will go away and you'll be soooo happy once it does.
  13. Congratulations to you. You will most likely need pulmonary clearance for surgery with your severe asthma. I had to have a sleep study done which was the most time consuming part. I had an EGD which my surgeon did and then found out that I had a small hiatal hernia so they were able to repair that at the same time as doing my sleeve. I had to have cardiology clearance bc of a blood clot in the past. I also had to have a psychological eval. I had a pre op class a week befor surgery that was very informative. The monthly nutriton meetings that I went to were very helpful. The dietician was vey knowledgeable about the whole process, the different insurance companies requirements, and what to expect. That really helped. But by having the sleep study and EGD I actually had 2 more co morbidities prior to submitting to the insurance.

Not sure if I messed up or did right

I bought Wendy's chili and put it I the blender with some soup broth to thin and blend for puree and it was really good. Especially because it's seasoned. It's like real food with taste.

    Coffee after gastric sleeve

I used to drink coffee all day long before surgery. I was told add long asI get 64 oz of fluid in then I can have coffee. I cannot get 64 oz of fluid in on any given day. I haven't had any caffeine in almost 5 weeks. May just give it up but haven't decided yet.

    Y'all! I'm hungry!

I keep trying to eat stuff I'm not ready for. Today I thought a bean burrito would be soft. Two bites of the tortilla chewed well and I was cursing up a storm. I don't know what's wrong with me. I thought it would be soft enough but it was so painful. Next time I'll just get a cup of pintos and a cup of guacamole or something.
  22. So it sound like you have a $250 deductible which means you have to pay the first $250 off medical bills when the year starts. Then the yearly maximum is $6000 so that means after you have paid $6000 towards your medical bills then the insurance will cover the rest of the year at 100%. So for example I have a $1300 deductible then after I've paid $1300 them my insurance will pay 90%and I pay 10% until I've paid $5000 that is my out of pocket maximum.

    Sleeping after surgery

I was just able to lay on my sides this week 4. If I tried my belly would pull and hurry my lower abd muscles. I think I strained them like the 2nd week trying to fold laundry from a basket on the floor in front of me and it took the next 2 weeks to feel better. But at first I tucked a pillow on the side under my belly for support, now it's ok. But I def couldn't while I had the drain in, too uncomfortable.
