Eating out the first time after surgery
hmills653 replied to tinab59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We go out after church sometimes and I get a water with lemon and then order a la carte like 1 scrambled egg with cheese and 2 slices of bacon or once I offered the turkey club sandwich no bread, so I had the turkey cheese and bacon. The other day we went to subway and I'm not allowed lettuce yet so I ordered a 6 in chicken bacon ranch no bread, they put the chicken breast in a salad container with cheese melted on top and bacon on top, I ate half for lunch and the other half for dinner. -
I was a vegetarian for a few years and I remember the first couple weeks I would have dreams that I was just like barbarically eating large quantities of meat. The funny thing is I've never really been a big meat eater anyway. Lol

You look amazing

Anyone had surgery May 30th?
hmills653 replied to kaypitre5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
May 31 for me. First appt with surgeon weight 254, preop weight 231, current weight 204. -
looks pretty sassy to me. Congrats you look great, can't wait till I'm there.

my chewable made me sick. I ordered patches but I'm worried that they won't be enough. I ordered some bariatric advantage multivitamin chews. I'll let you know how they taste. But I habe the bariatric advantage calcium chews in strawberry and love them.

I'm getting my protein now but still not meeting fluid goals. I did walk a mile today and felt really good. I lost the first 3 weeks then no more the past 3 but I just finished my period also. I go for my 6 wk post op appt Thurs so I'll have an official weight.

Cincinnati or Tri-State (OH, KY, IN) area?
hmills653 replied to Angi D's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I live near Cleveland in Amherst Ohio. I was sleeved ok May 31. I'm currently walking about a mile ok. Stairs or inclines quickly wear me out. I'm 42 years old and don't do face time but would like to keep touch here. -
Make sure you're not over doing it activity wise and Is suggest starting vitamins. I get that way standing up in church but I also break out in a cold sweat just pouring off, but I'm fine walking its just standing still for some reason.

On the verge of dehydration!
hmills653 replied to Kayla Monee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sipping timer, yes that's a good idea. I had my kids help me. I have the echo dot. We would set a timer for 5 mins then I drink an ounce then the girls set the timer again. -
I know when I went to physicians weight loss center, they gave us b12 shots twice a week and I had so much energy they were amazing.

people can be so mean and petty. -
Awesome. I'm May 31. I'm finally able to tolerate chicken without pain. So happy. Very close to my protein goal. I had a protein shake for breakfast and 4 oz chicken salad for lunch. I should be there after dinner. I have my 6 wk post op appt this Thursday so I'll get any official weight. I also went for a nice walk earlier today and over all I'm feeling pretty good. For as much regret as I initially had, I am glad I made this choice. I'm already down one clothing size and even though it's not alot, it's really helped me to feel better about the way I look. I'm glad you're doing good. My teen daughter started weight watchers to track her points and had been walking with me also, so I think this change will benefit the whole family.

No water 13 hours pre op??
hmills653 replied to Joe's wife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It wasn't bad tasting. Mine was white grape flavored. -
surgeon postponed my procedureHello everyone. I had surgery scheduled for July 25th but due to my weight gain(yeah yeah, I know spare me the lecture please !) the surgeon does not feel comfortable going forward with the original date. So yeah, I know
hmills653 replied to dumplingtype's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry but I believe everything happens for a reason. When you do have surgery you'll be better prepared. My surgery was pushed back a whole month bc my surgeon took the month of April off. -

hmills653 replied to Joe's wife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
usually if we have patients scheduled for late surgeries they are npo after breakfast. I hadn't heard about 2hrs though. I'll have to look into that. We should all be practicing to evidence based standards that are the most up to date and in the best interest of the patient. Thanks for sharing that info. -
No water 13 hours pre op??
hmills653 replied to Joe's wife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to drink something called clearfast 3 hrs before surgery. It was to help curb hunger and was made to clear the stomach after 3 hrs. Once I got to the hospital they started IV fluids. Otherwise nothing else to eat or drink after midnight. I'd rather be safe than sorry, especially when having surgery on the stomach itself. -
One week and nothing like sitting on the toilet drinking milk of mag and googling what else you can do bc you've never felt this uncomfortable. I still take 2 generic colace every day. I have been pretty regular but have lose stills about twice a week. I figure until I'm more regular with eating and getting enough fluids I don't want to be constipated again. I also keep an enema in the cupboard just in case.

Has anyone had lap band and converted to sleeve?
hmills653 replied to alrad0104's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations. I'm hoping that your surgeon will be professional and understanding. My surgeon doesn't e even do bands anymore bc they said there are too many complications and not as successful weight loss. I wish you success. -
Had anyone tried barimelts? I know I take the disposable b12 and biotin and do fine with them. I just don't want to keep wasting money on vitamins with trial and error.

I recently switched to the patch md. I'm not going to tell my nutritionist bc she told me not to use the patch. But I had so much nausea in the mornings when I would take my vitamins and they told me before surgery to take with food that's why. But it only got worse after surgery so I couldn't even take them. I wad told chewable for 3 mos then can take regular vitamins. Is that what everyone else understands? I had the sleeve.
