How long did you wait for a baby??
insideOutGrl replied to AppleSmith1226's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Iate... The reason doctors suggest the 1 year waiting period is so not only do you have an opportunity to have the healthiest pregnancy possible. But also for psychological reasons. Most people who lose a lot of weight, especially women have a hard time understanding they're going to have to gain a good bit of that weight back for the pregnancy. But i think women who've been desperate for babies for so long probably aren't as concerned with gaining the weight. I'm 29, the husband is 30 and i'll be waiting a year, just because i want to be as healthy and as ready for pregnancy as i can be! -
Proper restriction = shock collar

Sarah, i had nearly the same experience after my 2nd fill on the 12th. I was fine with Water, but found myself unable to eat even soft food (as i was told to do later that night). Thinking i was just swollen i gave myself a few days, and then finally broke down on friday unable to eat a thing and got myself slightly unfilled (just 1cc) this past monday. WHEW! what a difference that little bit made! The NICE part of that week i spent starving and weak was that i lost nearly 9lbs! hahahaha NOT RECCOMENDED says the fill nurse....and i certainly wouldn't want to be over-restricted again, but i'll take those pounds off anyway i can get them! Good luck! and don't wait too long if you can't eat after a day. That's no longer swelling but being too tight. -
Hey Nicole! Bravo on taking charge of your own health. I felt a little of what you're talking about when i first decided to get the band. In fact, before i even told friends and family, i went to all the seminars and had had most of my exams and tests. The most important person in your life is supportive (the hubby) and that's all that matters. Our friends and family love us as we are, but you know what? They don't walk in our shoes. They may not even really understand all the chronic health problems associated with being MORBIDLY obese. (god, i hate that freaking word) Since i had the surgery on 1/10/08 most of my friends and family are super happy for me. I have one friend who is still unsupportive--in fact, i haven't seen her since New Year's. ::shrugs:: I understand that she has her own weight issues to deal with, and is probably a little jealous. I just leave the door open for her, and let her know i care about what's going on in her life. You have to do what's right for you, and i dare say that the people who are TRULY your friends and who's love for you is unconditional will be around post-op! I wish you all the luck and health! Angela p.s.- i'm about 33lbs down in 2.5months....the more i lose and the better i feel, the more i know in my heart that i made the right decision for my health and wellbeing.

Hi guys and gals! I'm new to the site and relatively new to my band. (I've had it for right about 2 months now). I just wanted to introduce myself and see whether there were other folks from the Rockies around here. A bit about myself.... Well, i'm originally from Florida and moved to Colorado a little over a year ago. After dealing with weight issues my entire life (but only having had them become a major problem since college) i finally decided it wasn't going to happen without a little help, and bit the bullet and got the lap band. Of course, with the husbands support. I got my second fill yesterday, and am stuck on fluids for the time being. I think i might just be swollen but i'm going to give myself through the weekend to see whether i might be able to eat by monday. Dr. Snyder was my surgeon and he and all his staff have been great. Since my surgery two months ago i've lost 25lbs and am working hard to remove the rest. ( i think this fluid diet i'm currently on will probably facilitate another couple lbs! ) I've met some great friends since moving, but i'm always open to meet new peeps, so please feel free to drop me a line anytime! Cheers, cherry

2nd fill: on the verge of misery
insideOutGrl replied to morningoasis811's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey, i know what you mean...EXACTLY. Yesterday i got my second fill. My first fill was almost a month ago, so they gave me an aggressive 3.25cc fill in my 10cc band. I wasn't feeling as much restriction as i felt i should so i scheduled my second fill. This time i was given 2cc and was fine with the Water afterwards, heck i even ate a bit of cottage cheese later that afternoon, but something happened between then and dinner, because when i attempted a little egg salad, it hurt. Then even the liquids were hurting. I tried a little yogurt a while later, no go. More liquids...still that pressure. So i gave up for the night. Now this morning i'm still feeling that tightness and i'm wondering whether, like you, i just get swollen after my fills or whether i am, indeed too tight. Oh, i've since started avoiding spicy foods for that reason. I tried a bite of chicken curry after my first fill..like a day or two later, and it was misery! At least i now know what "sliming" means! hahaha Good luck, chica. As for me, i'm going to ATTEMPT to wait this out over the weekend and hope it's just a bit of swelling. -
What is your Fill Level in a 10 cc AP Band?
insideOutGrl replied to Motocrossgirly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not sure how much was put in my band at surgery, though i know it was primed with some amount of saline. I was given my first fill on 2/18 and it was 3.25cc. I just got my second fill yesterday and was given a whopping 2cc. At this point, i'm not sure if i'm just swollen from such a large fill, or if it's too tight. Though i haven't gagged, or vomitted even drinking liquids is creating that uncomfortable feeling right in the center of my chest. I'm going to try to wait it out over the weekend and hope it's just a bit swollen! Also...when taking into account your total "fill" in a 10cc band (which i have) do surgeons include the amount that they primed the band with in the total count? Or is it negligible?
