    Pre-Op Practice Eating

Yes I started this way even being approved.. I stopped drinking soda, stopped drinking while eating, as well as putting my fork, or spoon down inbetween bites as well and it does help... because normally i am always full before i even get 1/2 finish and i have- stopped putting anything more than 1/2 cup of food on my plate at one time
  2. My Dr. came to see me about 15-min after I was done... they called the next day, and 1-week later as well... They are great.... He is truly a people person...
  3. That is the pre-op diet i went on... the slim fast optima.. not the regular slimfast because that one dosent have enough protien in it... but i lost weight and my Dr. told me that i did great....
  4. U know It isn't that noticable once u have it for a while... As your tummy goes down from weight loss u will know its there but its not like it pokes out or anything.. My mother had a port in her chest for chemo treatments and i remember asking her if it bothered her at all and she was like nope it's fine.. I would rather have this than them poking me trying to find a vein to get blood and such, i know our port only has saline fluid in it, but a port is a port and it is doable....

    Am I Alone?????

I was looking at an episode of Big Medicine and this guy was not really overweight but he had high blood sugar which was called a comorbity, and if he got the lapband that would actually help to control his blood sugar so he could possiably get off of the medicine which he had been taking for about 20-years.. and it worked.. That was amazing by itself... but like a few others said when i was just 75lbs overweight if i would have taken conrol of it then i would be so much better now it wouldnt be funny.... I would have so much more of my life to enjoy... but Hey u gotta start somewhere.... It is a long and hard road, but if u are determined u can and will do it no matter what... Now I weigh 273 and i told a friend that i have about 85lbs or so left to loose and she said that I will look like a :drool:crack head:drool:... lol oh well at least my lips wont be white...lol.....

    dizzy and light headed

the dehydrated thing is right on the money... when i was banded 4-days out i felt like i couldnt move.. I was just sitting starring into space like i was on drugs or something.. I had realized that i had not eaten or drank any normal amounts of fluid in like 4 1/2 days... which was leading to severe dehydration.. however My mother came to me in a vision... and advised me to drink some sugar water to give me some strength back... because i didnt have any of the other drinks and water wasen't doing it... that may not be for everyone but it worked for me... one thing i will say is when u are dehydrated on a sever side your eyes start to get sunken in and your skin feels tight... and then your feel light headed and dizzy and prehaps will faint... I would suggest drinking some ice tea w/splenda if u have some because u need to get your fluid intake in somewhere....and look at yourself in the mirror u can tell when u close your eyes if your eye balls are sticking out further or if your eyelids are tighter than normal... u are in the stages of dehydration...

Ever feel its not worth it?

U know on the 4th day I felt like i was going to die.... I was in so much pain.. I was misirable and as i thought about the pre-op phase of everything and the post I read about people not having as much pain and discomfort as i was having i said had to be bullshyt.... am i normal or not.. Yes I have a high tollerence for pain so i know i ain't no punk.. The medicine was making me worse... so i stopped taking it on the 4th day and I just took extra strength tylenol and that worked better. U may not be thirsty or hungry but drink anyway... force yourself to that is the only true way u will get your strength back.. and like everyone says walk because that will allow the gas to come up and out also... Trust me u will be ok.... If I did it u can to... This too shall pass...

    I need support!

U know what things happen that we can't control... U couldn't control being hit by someone, but u can control what u put in your mouth... U have to be the captain of your ship u can't put the ship on auto pilot and expect it to take u where u want to go..... Food is not your buddy, it's not a pal, or a lover.. it's fuel and that's it... Just like gas is for your car... you don't see people bringing in gas cans sitting them in the living room, or playing cards with them, or when they feel bad going to get more gas just for the hell of it..... because the sole purpose is for it to get u from a to b and to c as well, if u put too much gas in your car it will spill out and guess what u have just wasted your money.. If u eat too much u might throw up, and if u don't it will stick to your butt...if it can't come out it will definately stay in, and cause us to gain weight.. Not to be hard on you or anything, but u have to face the stress head on and say u are not going to allow it to get the best of u.. U control the situation don't allow it to control u....U can do it, and just because u slipped dosent mean u can't get up and dust your sholder off and stay in the fight....cause u can...:cursing:

    Wasabubblebutt is in recovery

Wow... Wasa u r a trooper.. really... I read thru all of the 5-boards of post and everyone's struggles, are diffrent... U did what was best for you, and like u said u tried.. Hell i don't think I would have tried as many times as u did.. the 1st time something would have gone wrong i woulda been like ok after this if it dosent work.. take this shit out...lol... I have heard about the sleeve, but today i did a google search on it and it is actually sugery for failed lap band patients.. So who gives a shit what others have to say about what u shoulda, coulda, did... Hell now i know if this dosent work I have another option.... lol.. and that was something that really concerned me... U are amazing person, and has gone thru a lot.. U definately have a lot of wisdom that u can share... Please continue to post i don't care if it says lap band talk... Keep doin u baby...:cursing:

    Desperately seeking some input!!!

U know u should be very proud of your success thus far... U have done fantastic.. However the IBS sounds like it could be the one thing that is holding u up... If i may ask how many movements do u have on a daily basis... I had to start taking Fiber supplements to keep everything moving freely if u know what i'm sayin...lol.. but u can pick some fiber pills up from GNC, the Vitamin shop and even walgreens, or cvs.. I see u live in chicago... How long are your workouts, and how much Water are u drinking... see one thing i do know is if u have been doing the same workouts for the same amount of time and eating pretty much the same amount of calories u are now prob. at a platu as well.. so u have to tweek your plan.. if u have been eating about 1000 calories start eating 1300-1500 calories for a few days and then go back to the 1000 calories.. do this for a few weeks and u will see the weight start to come off again.. If u are doing the treadmill switch to the stair climber or the elliptical or something... ***Also i have seen your before and after pictures and girl u look good as hell...*****

    Was banded on Monday and

One of the main reasons for the diffrent stages is to give your stomach a chance to heal.. because the band had to be stiched in there... If u were to eat solids before the time as long as u chew it until it turns into mush u should be ok... Not to give a green flag to say hey go and eat solids or anything... but we all learn from our mistakes...:frown:

    Average Fill

Well My band came with 3cc's in it and when i went to him he put 2cc's in and i go back July24th for another fill..
  15. U know what did help me with the port pain was to wear like a support under-garment that was really snugg fitting... that really help a lot...
  16. U too... I will keep u in my prayers keep me posted...
  17. Wow I hope you find out what is causing your pain.... I can't answer because i am not sure... I would do a google search and look it up and see what it says...
  18. That sounds like your port. It is going to be tender right there because as my Dr. explained it to me that he has to stitch it to your muscle so it will be kind of tender for a while. u have to be careful when u turn, lay down and make sure u don't pick up anything that u think might be to heavy.... take some tylenol and u should start to feel some relief....
  19. mstrina27

    Is my stomach small now?

    ditto......
  20. Well u shouldn't lift anything over 10lbs actually... it is very hard not to... but if u do u will risk your stitches being pulled away from the port. My son is a huge brat.. and with his big azz he is always like mommy pick me up.... plz... i just want to give u a hug... and then he hooks his arms around my neck and wont let go... It is truly hard.. but I told him that mommy tummy hurts so i cant pick him up right now and he was like ok... mommy u will feel better ok... and everyday he is like mommy is your tummy ok yet? and I have to be careful to say not yet... because he will say ok... pick me up then...lol.

    zero energy

See the protien will help u heal faster, and it will keep u fuller longer... U need to make sure u are drinking broth, eating pudding, drinking milk things like that.. oh and like crystal lite, or any sugar free bev. NOT SODA POP..... U have to get your daily fluid intake in so u won't become dehydrated... because water is in food, and yr not eating food yet so u have to force yourself to drink drink drink... also try sugar free red bull that worked for me as well....:thumbup:Congrats on Your New Beginning...
  22. I was just like that It seem like i just couldn't shake it... Get u some fresh air.. and drink some crystal lite or some sugar free kool-aid something that will give u some strength.. I was in the same state u were in and i thought i was going to just pass out.... U may be in the beginning stages of being dehydrated... push yourself to drink as much fluid as u can.... sip on some cream of chicken soup or some sort of broth or something...
  23. mstrina27

    How to use water?

I try to drink water every other hour before i eat and possiably an hour after i eat so i can get all of it in.... its hard.. but i do it...
  24. U know before i was banded I would read... oh it was a breeze.. it wasent bad at all... People would say hey it wasen't bad at all... Now i am no punk when it comes to pain... I have a high tollerence for pain. Bottom line, however the lapband.. that was hell to tell the captain.... I am real when i say i was in pain... Read my blog.. like i said i refuse to lie to anyone...lol.. but this i do know is that it will get better... as each day goes by.. it is always better than the day before... The pain meds the Dr. made me really sick.. so i stopped taking them... If u take a few tylenol that should do it.. and make sure u drink plenty of fluid because u will get dehydrated... I did, but i refused to go to the hospital, because i have a 3-year old and it is just me and him.... It will get better trust me....
