Ok when i lost weight the first time way before i ever thought about the lap band i would drop any where from 15-22lbs a month and I excercised 5x a week doing an hour on the elliptical trainer and lifting light weights for my arms, and also did my squats and such.. also doing 150 stomach crunches every other day. along with eating 4-5 small meals through out the day and drinking hella water.. so i'm assuming with the band i will do about the same thing... anything else would be unexceptable for myself...See i know what i am capable of doing and now since i have went thru all of this pain.. i am going balls to the wall baby and im going to get the rest of this crap off of my azz... everybody is diffrent but if u never push yourself u never know what u are capable of doing..... u know if u have given it 100% or not....

Ok well every Dr. is definately diffrent becaue i have printed information that states to stay away and i quote 'AVOID protein supplements such as boost, edge, ensure and regular slimfast' Just trying to pass along some information that assisted me in making better choices... I checked online and those that they said to avoid are way high in carbs & sugar.. If your body is spending 50% of the time burning the carbs u ate, and the 50% burning off the sugar than yr body has no time to burn off fat... or verry little time to burn it off... and actually sugar turns into carbs anyway..so as long as it is working for u then kudos....

When ever a Dr. gives order of course we should all follow them, however because everyone is not the same we need to tweek it sometimes.. what may work for 20-of his patients may not work the best for this one... The weight loss she has is good, but considering what she is eating she should be loosing more... i would definately lower the carb. intake.....IMO I drink a protien drink from Bally's and this is just an example but u do the comparison...     newbie questions

    1. it will take about 4-weeks or so but after the first 2 u can eat soft foods. 2. cant answer that one yet.. 3. I actually started learning how to chew before i got banded so it wouldnt be that hard for me so things wouldnt get stuck... 4. Nope i have not thrown up at all.. 5. I returned after 3-days.. but I would advise anyone to take off at least a week
  5. Hey how r u beckn.... Yes I would definately amp up the calorie intake to about 1000 and even if u can't drink the water add crystal lite, whylers lite or some type of flavor to it... because it will keep your body hydrated and when u drink water u will loose water... if u don't drink it your body will hold on to it just like if u are not eating enough.... U have done fantastic with the weight loss thus far.. and try to weigh yourself only once a week the same day so like every wed morning then weigh yourself and after u do take the scale out of the bathroom and put it in a closet so u wont see it at all i had problem with everytime i went in the bathroom i would step on the scale and it drove me crazy.... Do that and see how it works and keep me posted...

That is the problem... u are not eating enough... u have to add more calories to your daily intake. trust me i am a pro at this...lol.. not sure if u watch the biggest looser but jillian went off on one of the cast becasue she had been eating like 600-800 calories and wondered why she wasent loosing weight and jillian said after a while your body will get use to only burning the 600-800 calories that you eat so u wont gain and u wont loose u will maintain.. but u are trying to loose so u have to trick your body... u have to kick it up so for like 4-days eat about 1000-1200 calories and then the next 2 eat a little less and keep that going and your u will burn that fat baby.... see because once u start to eat more calories your body will start to burn more...so when u switch back a few days and eat less your body will still be burning the 1200 calories and u would have only consumed 600-800 will result in weight loss.... its ok u can do it... :biggrin:

    Post-op pain... HELP

    I was feeling the same way and sometimes i get that feeling and i know it is just the gas... i know when i do... do my burping release its going to last for about 10-minutes straight:lol:....lol.....

Oh yeah i forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS on the 4lb loss.. because that is fantastic, but with what u said u r eating it should definately be way more than that... if and when u change the protien drink see how u fee and then take note of the weight loss and make sure u give us an update...:biggrin:

Well not sure why yr Dr. told u to drink the Carnation instant breakfast because it is high in sugar, carbs, and it only has 5g of protien so in order for you to get 15g of protien u have to drink 3 of them like u said yr doing but at the same time u are consuming 660 calories, 81 carbohydrates, and 57g of sugar... I gave my son this when he was too pickey and would not eat regular food so he would get his calories in some where... that's why u r not loosing the weight because u are taking in too many carbs... u would be better off eating a 1/2 loaf of bread.... u need a protien drink that has less sugar, fewer carbs, and more protien because the protien is what helps to keep u fuller longer...ok i just scrolled up and saw that yr drinking the no sugar kind.. i would still try to find a better protien drink that has more protien in it u are taking in too many carbs...
  11. eating less will shrink the liver... it works like that because your liver dosent have to do that much work breaking down your food and everything... what u ate for your 1 meal is not bad at all dont feel bad about it.. my dr. told me to drink the 2 shakes and to eat 1 meal... and pretty much what ever i had a taste for within reason i ate for my 1 meal... and my Dr. told me that everything went perfect so u r not doing bad at all....
  12. yes things do happen for a reason that could have killed u... that bad tooth could have saved yr life.... so with the little lay over that will just make u more ready to get things off to a greater start....
  13. hey fotogurl make sure that u have at least 2 boxes of gas-x strips or chewable.. in case someone looses a box...lol that happened to me... and i just found them today and my son lost them last friday.... how sad...lol.. any hoo.. i would get plenty of bottled water because it is easier to grab a bottle of water and if u have the crystal lite singles it easier and faster to make sure u drink something.. get soup, one other thing i would get is a back massager u can get the kind that the batteries go in, turn it on and just lay down put it behind your back and that will help the gas to come out also... uhhhhh u r really not going to want to eat much.. but make sure u have your shakes and everything and u should be ok....

  15. about the constipation one of my co-worker had the gastric and she told me about drinking some mylanta and that should keep u going until i start to eat the regular foods.. because that is one things that will have weight on u is when u don't have a bowel movement....

    I want to live

    Well congratulations on taking one of the biggest steps of your life.... I thought I was reading one of my own post...lol.. because my highest weight was like 321 and when i was that heavy i lived on the 3rd floor and we did not have an elevator..:rolleyes2: so i know what u mean about being winded... I am about 270lbs now and i have lost the 51lbs pretty much on my own with my food choices, and excercising, One thing about me is that I got fat from being lazy and eating snacks just like u said.... I didn't over eat on food i just at too much junk food... nacho's chips, cookies, soda pop, oberwise ice cream sunday's and it takes a strong person to say NO MORE.... I am tired of being this way, not living life the way it was intended to be lived... u are taking the control back keep up the good work and u will be a success...

    Help I Am Terrified!

    how much water or crystal lite type drinks are u having per day? Also the reason for the high protien is to keep u fuller longer... i would start to drink the shakes at least 2x's a day and when u do eat just go slow take your time and chew...and put your fork down between bites this should help because it actually helps me becuase i use to scarf my food down... keep us updated... or see if your Dr. or nutrionist would give u an appitiate suppressent or something that might help..

    Post-op pain... HELP

    I can attest to that because i have been feeling like that for the past few days... My son lost my gas x strips and i just got around to buying some more... and i dont feel as bloated, gassy, and full as i was before and my stomach has started going down more also.. others may not notice but i can tell.. I would suggest getting gas x strips or the chewables and oh yeah i have a back massager that i put under my back also and that helps to bring the gas up also... but i can tell the gas is in my back also..i hope u start to feel better...

    yup...exactly... but i have a question... if u have the procedure done what would make u feel that it isn't for u? I figure that is why u would do hella research ups, and downs and everything... be sure it's what u want to do before u do it... even working out becasue it is going to take eating smaller portions, along with excercise to reach yr goal im sure... have u had any appts yet regarding info on the lap band?

I noticed that u said that u were drinking BUTTER PECAN ENSURE... when my mother wouldnt eat the Dr. told us to give her ensure because it has a lot of calories and fat in it... i think u are drinking the wrong thing... u dont want that kind of shake that's not a weight loss drink... just an fyi...

Now a few people at work know that I was banded, and actually don't think some believe me becasue i came back to work so quick, but it is like everyone is like how is everything going, what can you eat and things like that. I mean that's not a bad thing at all I actually like it because it keeps me on my toes... but on the other hand because of people that have failed with the lap band @ my job and or the gastric people are looking at me like i wonder if your going to be diffrent. I know my mind set is diffrent now. I dont even feel the same way i felt before about food at all, and I know i will be a success, but I don't want people basing their decision to get the lap band on my progress because everyone's body is diffrent.
