Walter.Sobchak started following After surgery, ever eat food you shouldn’t?, Carbs?, What's Your Caloric Sweet Spot? and and 7 others

This is a tricky one as I have seen people post saying that they do not count carbs at all that they only count calories. I have never really seen a straight answer on this question. I am not sure which is more important, low calories or low carbs?

What's Your Caloric Sweet Spot?
Walter.Sobchak replied to KT1981's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am almost 2 years out and I take in anywhere from 3000 to 4000 calories a day, hence why I have put 25 pounds back on. Seeing at what you all take in a day makes me wish I was able to do that, I suppose I could if I ate the right things. I would be happy if I could get my calories down to about 2000 per day. -
Gsv yesterday..hungry today!
Walter.Sobchak replied to mandmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ha ha ha. Dont worry plenty of people will be on here soon to tell you that you arent really hungry it is all in your head. It is just head hunger, feel free to tell those people to f**k off. I was starving the morning after surgery. Once you are able to take in puree and soft foods you should start to feel better. -
Weight Gain After Sleeve (Seeking Advice Not Judgment)
Walter.Sobchak replied to GetBack_095's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am right there with you guys. I have gained back 25 pounds of the 110 that I lost, it is just a series of ups and downs. Some days I do really good and eat really well, other days I am the same food addict I always was. I do not have any advice for you as to how you can be successful you are going to need to figure that out for yourself. -
I'm getting RE-SLEEVED! Anyone else done this yet?
Walter.Sobchak replied to alchaley's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I personally would not get sleeved again, especially if you have not been successful with the first one. Looking into another option like others have said. I would go with Bypass and I wish I had done Bypass the first time around. Having said that, if you do not address the issues with your eating it really will not matter what surgery you have if you dont change the mental issues related to eating. Where ever you go, there you are. -
Stall since August 2018
Walter.Sobchak replied to bogglesauce's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you, I appreciate that. It is very hard, now that the "honey moon" phase is long over with. I can pretty much eat anything I want without any major issues. The restriction is still there to a certain extent, I cannot eat nearly as much as I could before surgery but more than I could post op. -
Stall since August 2018
Walter.Sobchak replied to bogglesauce's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I stalled for about 4 months and have since started gaining weight back. I have put on 20 to 25 pounds in the last 6 months. It is not a good feeling to regaining weight after having weight loss surgery. I am trying to remind myself why I had the surgery in the first place and everything I put my body through after surgery, hoping that will get me back on track. I have also found a local OverEaters Anonymous meeting however I have not attended yet. -
What about inches? Have you lost inches? Have you been measuring yourself to see if you are having any success there?
-
I understand, that is why I wrote it. I find myself being guilty of all the things I mentioned. After a 40 hour work week I feel like I owe it to myself to eat something to "reward" myself. I want pizza or junk food or the like. I am recovering alcoholic and addict, I am sober today. Food is the only thing I have left to abuse. The sleeve has definitely helped me in the sense that I cannot eat as much as I used to, but the mental obsession to eat is still there. Before sleeve surgery I estimate I was taking in roughly 8000 to 10000 calories a day. I typically take in about 3000 per day now at 18 months out, I realize that is too many calories and am trying to get it under control and starting to walk as a form of exercise.

Sure thing, I wrote it myself. It is something I repeat in my head trying to keep myself focused.

-Food is not your friend. -Food is not a reward. -Food is not an escape. -Food is not a drug. -Food is not a treat. -Food does not comfort you. -Food is not a celebration. -Food is simply fuel for your body and nothing more. The sooner you accept this, the better off you will be. Sadly, I am still trying to convince myself to believe these statements.

After surgery, ever eat food you shouldn’t?
Walter.Sobchak replied to Bluebird_'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you Kathy. It has really been difficult. The mental obsession for food has not left me by any means. If you recall my wife and I were sleeved together and we are trying to get back on track and make healthy choices. We are also trying to improve our eating habits for our kids health as well. -
1100 calories in a day!!!
Walter.Sobchak replied to NorthCountryGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 18 months out and can easily take in 3000 to 4000 calories daily. if you dont address the underlying issues as to why you overate in the first place you will not have success. Clearly I have not addressed those issues and have started gaining again. I had lost 110 pounds but I have put 20 back on. I am trying to get refocused and considering got to OA but havent yet. -

All the time, hence why I am gaining again. I had lost 110 pounds and have since put 20 back on. If you do not address the mental issues as to why you eat you will not have success. -
I do not wanna do gastric bypass!
Walter.Sobchak replied to gabybab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I needed to lose about 200 pounds and I lost 110 However I have put 20 back on I am about 18 months out from surgery. I would say go with Bypass. However, as they say "wherever you go, there you are" and you may not have the best results with either surgery if you do not address the over eating issues that you already have.
