Congratulations. Are you excited? What were your insurance requirements? What is your BMI? My surgery won't be until August at the earliest.
-
I am one month in to my six month waiting period. BMI is 56 and all kinds of health issues. high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, chronic fatigue, chronic joint pain, depression, low self esteem, low self-worth. My wife and I are both working towards getting sleeved.

Just received my bill.

Damn you Canadians and your free health care [emoji12] -
I have cut way back, and am working towards cutting it out all together. My surgery won't be until August, so I have time to make those adjustments. I know I need to get away from it, just in general but definitely before I get sleeved.

That is what I struggle with as well. I keep thinking I can do it on my own, if I just put my mind to it. I need to lose roughly 200 pounds. The chances of doing that and keeping it off are pretty slim. I am scared to have surgery, but i have to do something.

Yeah, I agree. She has had her gall bladder removed, appendix removed, Hiatal Hernia repair, and two c sections. So basically, surgery is no big deal to her. I on the other hand am scared. My surgery won't be until August, so I have plenty of time to get mentally prepared.

I understand, I feel the same way. I will keep you posted on my wife's journey as well. I have encouraged her to create a profile here as well. She is full steam ahead and not scared at all. She is a critical care nurse, so maybe that is why she isn't scared? I am scared, but I have to do something. My quality of life is pretty low right now.

Everyone I have talked to said they would do it again and it was the best decision they ever made. I think we are worth it. I am tired of being so big. I am tired of not being able to fly because I can't fit in the seat. I am tired of always wondering if a seat can support my massive frame. I am tired of always feeling miserable. I have to make a change and WLS is the tool that I need.

Sadly, I am addicted to diet coke as well. I cut it out for two weeks, and then I drank one and I am addicted again. I haven't been sleeved yet, but I am hoping I can give it up.

I agree. It makes me think that I can have those same results. Sadly, my surgery won't be until August either. -

Thank you. We have both had success with weight loss in the past, but that was a decade ago. It was before we knew each other, before we had kids. It was a different situation. I have to get weight off, I am miserable at my current weight. My body can't handle the strain of being 420 pounds. -
4 Days Post op, Ready to cry, and have no support!

I am sorry you are feeling so down. I will pray for you. Why didn't your husband want you to get the surgery? Did he like you overweight? Was he an enabler? That doesn't sound very loving or understanding of him. -

Maybe you could lose some weight pre surgery and get your BMI down? Based on what I have read, I would prefer the sleeve versus bypass. -

I have had surgery 3 times before, and never had an issue with anesthesia but it still scares me. My wife will be my exercise buddy. Her surgery is on pace for April, mine won't be until August. Most of my family and her family is supportive. My dad isn't real sure about it, he still thinks I could lose it on my own. Sometimes I feel like I can lose it on my own, but then the next day I feel like I can't do it by myself. -

That is interesting. It must depend on the surgeon, as I have heard others on here have gone home the same day. -

May I ask what your BMI is? Mine is currently 56 My doctor doesn't like to do Bypass, he said he doesn't recommend it. He prefers the sleeve and said he sees the best results from the sleeve. -

That makes sense. I am hoping I don't have to stay overnight. -

You were in the hospital for four days? Why is that? I thought the surgery was outpatient? -

Personally, I wouldnt want bypass either. Too many issues with "dumping" syndrome. I am working towards the sleeve. Bypass just seems so old school and outdated. Good luck and keep us posted. -
My insurance requires the same. I too was annoyed with the waiting period and requirements. My surgery will not be until August at the earliest. I keep going back and forth. I am scared, but I also need to get the weight off. I need to lose close to 200 pounds. I am 38 years old and have been over 300 pounds for about 10 years. I have been over 400 pounds for about 5 years now.

Cool, glad to hear it. I have numerous reasons to get sleeved, but I am scared. My health is pretty bad and I have two young kids. I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old. -

You look awesome. Those pictures are incredible. My wife and I are in the process of getting gastric sleeve. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I will get it. My wife is full steam ahead and on pace for surgery in April. Mine won't be until August.
