VGS and Bipolar Meds
Walter.Sobchak replied to nomorefattypatty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon has not mentioned that I will need to crush pills, then again I haven't asked. I take meds for depression and OCD and high blood pressure. Ask your surgeon as to what you are supposed to do. -
Struggling with the decision
Walter.Sobchak replied to hardwork&dedication's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you aren't ready, then don't rush into it. Try some more controlled eating and exercise. If you can do it on your own, then great. I personally know I cannot do it without the tool of WLS. This is a major decision, so take your time and don't rush. -

Struggling with the decision
Walter.Sobchak replied to hardwork&dedication's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What is your BMI? What comorbidites do you have? What is your quality of life at your current weight? My family was opposed to it for me as well, but I am tired of being miserable. Also, I have some serious comorbidites. You have to do what is best for you. -
Awesome. Glad to hear you are doing well. Thanks for the update.

Does the first visit count?
Walter.Sobchak replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Insurance & Financing
Schweet, same to you. Keep us posted. -
Hello Peeps, I am wondering if the first visit to the weight loss surgeon counts towards the six month waiting period. I saw him in January. So I am wondering is it 6 visits after that and then can submit to insurance for approval? Or is it 5 visits after that and then can submit for approval? Essentially what I am asking is, how many visits total before can submit to insurance? Initial consult plus six more? Or initial consult plus 5 more? Thank you

That is what I am thinking as well. -

Cool, thanks for responding. I believe that will be the case with me, but I will call them to double check. -

3 months post op and 97 pounds down
Walter.Sobchak replied to katgb's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow, flipping amazing. Keep up the good work. -
Questions about binge eating. Food addiction. History of addiction or alcoholism. Questions about my emotions. It was pretty painless. Took like 10-15 minutes.

Does it really take 2 years?
Walter.Sobchak replied to kinipela24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way. It took me 17 years to get this big (I was in good shape at 21, I am 38 now) So, if it takes 18 months or 24 months to get to an ideal weight I am OK with that. I know it is going to take time. I am just looking forward to having the sleeve as a tool to help me. -
I ate three marshmallow peeps five weeks post op and I'm okay with that.
Walter.Sobchak replied to jfcajr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not shaming you for slipping, but what an awful choice. I hate peeps. Worst easter candy ever. Chocolate covered marshmallow eggs, that's where it's at. [emoji12][emoji12][emoji12][emoji12] -

My surgeon said to plan on about 18 months. I personally do not want gastric bypass. Dumping syndrome sounds horrible to me. My BMI is currently 56 -
Best decision I've ever made
Walter.Sobchak replied to nicugal36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome. You look great. Keep it up. -
Cool. I used to work for a huge company and I had awesome benefits. But I was miserable, so I took a voluntary layoff.

What's wrong with me?
Walter.Sobchak replied to Pupmom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with this 100% I have not had my surgery yet, but I know I have issues. I wouldn't be 425 pounds, if I were a normal eater. I know I am a food addict, I have accepted it. My psychologist and I are going to start working on it at my next appointment. -
Holy Cats Insurance companies are so crooked.

Ah, that makes more sense. I couldn't believe an out of pocket max of $200 I was astounded. $2000.00 sounds about right. That is close to my OOP max.

May surgery and surgeon has me second guessing the sleeve

I think they meant 50 pounds. -
May surgery and surgeon has me second guessing the sleeve
Walter.Sobchak replied to AntoinetteNY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was this the first time you were seeing him? That seems odd. Personally, I wouldn't want bypass due to the rerouting and the potential for dumping syndrome. Can you find a different surgeon? It is your body and your choice. If you want to get sleeved, then get sleeved. -
Where do you work? Those sound like pretty good plans.

I say both as well. I appreciate all the before and after pics people post, but the ones that have the biggest impact are the ones with the least amount of clothes. You can really see the progress, the more skin that is showing. I swear I am not a creep [emoji12]
