I feel like I can eat too much

I have only been eating salmon for my lunches at work about 5oz a sitting and that is packed with protein. Two hours later I am starving.

I feel like I can eat too much

My experience has been I still feel hunger. I am hungry roughly every two hours. I can eat about 4 to 6 ounces of lean protein and I am satisfied. Then two hours later hungry again.

    Ralphie May died, cardiac arrest

I never liked his comedy, still sad he is gone. Too young to die. Also, could have possibly been prevented had he made a decision to change his lifestyle.

I feel like I can eat too much

I felt the same way after surgery. I am still convinced my sleeve is too big. I was starving the day after surgery. I am still hungry often and it is not f*cking head hunger. It is legitimate hunger. I thought this surgery was supposed to reduce ghrelin production? Oh well, still glad to be down 45 pounds in 8 weeks.

I’m in need of a sleeve buddy!!!

I will be your sleeve buddy. My wife and I were sleeved about 8 weeks apart. Including the preop diet and lifestyle changes prior to surgery she has lost close to 100 pounds. I was sleeved on 08-31-17 and including the preop diet I am down 45 pounds. I prefer Quest protein shakes made with almond milk. I typically make chocolate shakes and put a small amount of peanut butter in the blender with the protein powder and almond milk.

Gastric Sleeve Newbie with LOTS of ?'s

The diet right after surgery will be hard. Clear liquids, then full liquids, then puree, then soft foods. My dietician said half a cup of food per meal. 1000 calories per day is the goal. 80 grams of protein per day is the goal plus 64 ounces of water. I will be honest with you, it is very difficult. I am a food addict and it has been very hard. I miss all my old foods. having said that I am glad to see the pounds falling off.

    Any regrets?

I dont regret it, but it is very hard. The surgery itself was easy, it is everything since that has been hard. You need to make sure you are mentally prepared to stop abusing food. I thought I was mentally prepared for that and I was mistaken. I am happy to see the weight coming off and happy to be feeling better, but I do miss the food that I used to abuse. It is a life changing surgery so make sure you are ready for it. I do not regret it one bit and wish I had gotten it back in 2013 when I originally looked into it.
  8. Hello all, I am in week 5 of post surgery. My dietician said I should only be taking in 1000 calories per day. The only problem is, I am hungry every two hours. How can I possibly keep my calories that low each day? Any suggestions or ideas as to what to eat? I am basically eating regular food now. Just want to see what others think. Thank you.

    I love my sleeve because..?

    Moderate Sleep Apnea

Ask your doctor. Sleep apnea isn't something you treat and then it gets better. It's something you live with.

    Moderate Sleep Apnea

It is basically a variation of a cpap. You will wear it for life unless you lose enough weight that you no longer have sleep apnea. http://www.alaskasleep.com/blog/apap-therapy-machine-automatic-positive-airway-pressure
  14. I suffer from Major Depressive Disorder. I felt pretty depressed after surgery, mostly due to low energy and missing food. I am about 5 weeks out and feeling better. The weight coming off is helping but I am finding it hard to deal with my emotions without the comfort of food.

    Moderate Sleep Apnea

The pillows really aren't bad, you get used to them pretty quick. Before my CPAP I was tired all the time because I wasn't getting good rest. I wouldn't say I love my cpap but I definitely appreciate it. Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Irrational fears about surgery

I was pretty scared. Your fears are normal. I had had other surgeries before and I was still scared. Being put under is scary, you have to trust the medical team as they are the ones monitoring you and keeping you alive. It really wasn't that bad. Once you are put under, the rest is easy. Surgery is the easy part, all you have to do is show up. Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile app

    2 Week Follow Up

Hello, I just saw my dietitian and my surgeon for my two week follow up. The surgeon said that he uses the same measuring device for all his patients, so my sleeve should be the same size as my wife's. He said I may have had less swelling than her and that is why I was able to drink more right after surgery. He told me that I need to be taking my supplements and hitting my water and protein goals. My dietitian said I should be consuming only 1000 calories per day. He said I should only have half a cup of food when I eat. I have been taking in about 1500-2000 calories per day. 1000 seems like too little and very hard to hit. He said I should expect to lose about 1.5 pound per week. That also seems very slow.
