    Help!!!!

I did not but in my support group we have 2 people on hold because they were told to lose 20 to 50 pounds before the office will put through there paper work for approval. Insurance requirements are changing and I believe it will only get worse. Good luck to you.
  2. 10 weeks post op, today I had protein and a small amount of salad. This is the first time I have had heartburn, does anyone get it?

    Heartburn

I was taking prilosec, my surgeon starts it 2 weeks before surgery, I was sleeved on 12/19. He said i could stop 6 weeks after, i went to 8. Yesterday was the first day i noticed it. I have never had issues with Reflux or heartburn. I will speak to him about Rolaids, i was not aware i could use them. Thanks for the input.

You will do great. You will have no desire to eat and that makes it easier to make healthy choices, no cravings.

    Coffee?

Its so odd how everyone is given different info. I am allowed to have coffee, i am 9 weeks post. Last night in my group someone said they go to Subway and get salads. Another person said she was told no salad for a year! I as so confused at times that i will damage myself. But i think by this point i am pretty good with the healing?

    Looking for buddy

My visit the week before surgery was 287. My next appointment is in March. I try not to weigh myself at home, but do check every few weeks. My last weight was 240, i am at week 9. I had a pretty rough recovery, Please note that these things will most likely not happen to you. But i did have a few setbacks. It took me 6 weeks to really get to feeling good. Now im working on my nutrition. 3 ounces of Protein every meal with either some fruit or a vegetable and two Protein shakes a day. I eat clean. No junk, i sometimes can't believe what some of the people in my support group try to eat. Im not saying that i will never have a slice of pizza again, but i don't see that happening for a very long time.

    Looking for buddy

I did not have to do the Pre-op Diet. My surgeon did not believe it was necessary. I feel for you it must be very difficult. As of yesterday i am at week 9. I had a few set backs right after surgery so i had a difficult time. Don't be afraid, you are doing to right thing having surgery and will be very happy 4 weeks out. NO you will not be hungry, I eat 3 small meals a day and 1 to 2 Protein shakes in between. Be smart with your choices early on and you will be satisfied. Do yourself a favor and don't try to eat junk or foods not recommended, it will not help you. You are doing this to change you life. That means all your food choices for the next year need to be clean and healthy. Let me know how you do.

2 Days Out - feeling pretty awful

I have to be honest it took me 5 weeks to get in a good place. Take it one day at a time it will get better. Drink your fluids and protein and vitamins. Crystal light and propel water really helped me.

    Metallic tasting water

Propel and crystal light, and yes it will correct itself. Took me a good 4 weeks.

My surgeon suggested 6 months before alcohol, but I have heard of some saying a year! No liquids a 1/2 before eating and after. Make smart choices keep you food options clean.

    3 days post op

I did sleep in a recliner a few nights after leaving hospital. Just really get that Fluid in and the Protein shake. 2 ounces twice a day is so important, and yes walk around the house. Hold a pillow to you that is also helpful.
  20. UPDATE, hi all. Things are improving. Getting my Fluid in, eating 3 times a day working hard on the Protein. Week 4 I was down 35 pounds. Everyday is a struggle with certain foods but I try something different everyday. Salmon is not my friend Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I had my Gastric Sleeve Surgery on 12/19/2016 i am currently 4 weeks post-op. When i woke up in recovery i had burning heartburn that lasted 5 days. I was unable to get Fluid into me. I kept telling my surgeon and his team how i was feeling. They released me after 2 nights knowing i was not getting the fluids in that i needed. To make matters worse, i had 2 hematoma's from the surgery which caused me to become anemic. I did not know any of this. After my release i was very dizzy and went to my surgeons office the next day. I saw the nurse practitioner. I explained how i was feeling and she instructed me to "just keep sipping all day long". A week later i saw my surgeon who said i was severely dehydrated and needed to go to the ER. But not until after he spent 1/2 hour explaining the next phase of the eating plan which he referred to as the splat phase. I was sitting on a table in his office ready to faint only to sit through his instruction on eating which i had not even begun to do. Off to the ER i went. They did a CT scan to make sure i was not leaking and that is when i was told i had these hematoma's and that i was anemic. I have a hematologist that was not given any of this information from this surgeon either. The next day i saw my hematologist and thank the Lord for that man. He explained what was happening to me and what we needed to do. My surgeons notes were not in the hospital computer a week and 1/2 later so he could not even see what had happened in my surgery, but he was able to see the CT scan. Its been a very long 4 weeks. I am still dizzy at times and struggle to meet the daily fluid and food intake. Tonight i am attending a support group hoping to pick up some pointers. I know this is a process but my beginning was a terrible experience, I just wish that my surgeons office had been as forthcoming with the bad information as they were with making this sound like it would be a breeze.Tomorrow i meet with my surgeon. I did speak with the office a week ago. Not so sure how this appointment will go.

I will be week 4 tomorrow. I had terrible dehydration so I was off foods for 3 weeks, I just started eating on Thursday. Take your time and do no more then 2 ounces. Lentil, black bean Soup, chili with Beans all are working. Thin Greek yogurt with skim plus and no Fluid 1/2 hour before and after. Believe me I never thought I would get through.
