    Alcohol

I wasn't trying to be nasty. Someone else mentioned beer and I mentioned the carbonation. You asked how people felt and I said that it makes people sick. Hot damn that got nasty quick. Best of luck to you. Linda

    Alcohol

First of all, why would you drink beer? THere is carbonation in beer and it will make you blow up and burp and feel like crap. Second, they don't want you to drink alcohol because it is SUPER easy to become addicted. You'll get drunk REALLY fast and it's hard to control. Wait. Even at over 1.5 years out I won't drink more than 6oz of wine only and very rarely. Don't do something you'll regret. It's a slippery slope. Linda

    Help

I would think sudafed would be fine. I take Tylenol cold and flu and they work SUPER quick because of the absorption... but I'd check with your doc too Linda

    Calcium Citrate Question

You must take calcium citrate and NOT calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is what is in MOST supplements and you cannot break those down because you don't have the stomach acid anymore. You'll have to spend the extra and look carefully for the citrate. Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Struggling

@@lwhit86 I'm sorry you're having such an issue. I would really suggest trying to eat lean Proteins and stay away from carbs and "extra" food that you don't need. I eat a yogurt for Breakfast every morning because it fills me up more than a shake. I eat dannon light & easy. Its 80 calories and it has 12 grams of Protein. I snack on beef Jerky for protein. I drink fairlife milk as well because it is higher in protein than regular milk. For lunch I'll eat 2 or 3 oz of grilled chicken and I usually cant eat much more than that. Try turkey sandwich meat rolled up with some cheese (not kraft) with a little mustard. For dinner, again, chicken. I always look to protein first. Good luck! Feel free to send me messages whenever you like and Id be happy to give you suggestions.

    Question about the staples.

They stay there and its the coolest thing! I went to the chiropractor and he took an X-ray and you can see them in there! SO NEAT! Linda
  9. I'm so glad I saw this post. I am literally eating lunch right now and all I can say is it depends. I'm eating chicken and with chicken, it is a more dense meat so I have taken 3 bites and I already feel full. I know that I need to sit and wait a while before I have another bit. I am 1.5 years post-op RNY. This is my BIGGEST struggle and its harder when I'm with family and friends. I eat at their pace and I get SUPER full SUPER quick and then I get mad at myself because I didn't slow down and enjoy my meal...plus I waste more that way too. This will be a learning curve for you and one that hopefully doesn't take you as long as it takes me. I actually JUST wrote a blog page about this in case you're interested Linda www.fatontheinsideblog.wordpress.com

Bone pain back side of pelvis

The one thing that I can think of is your body is adjusting to the weight loss so it could actually be your pelvis shifting... Have you talked to your doctor about it? I know that now that I've lost weight I've noticed my hips "click" a lot more than they did before... it has to adjust like everything else because of the weight change. I hope it gets better! Keep us posted!

Thank you so much!! :) I thought I had a comment section but maybe I need to select that each time I write the blog. I will certainly look in to that and add it because I welcome comments! Thank you so much for following me, I really appreciate it! :) I'll try to keep posting stuff to keep you interested! Shaving is like the hardest thing ever now! lol

Yeah...not that I want cavernous pits to deal with, but in a way I look forward to getting them because it'll mean I've met my goals. :-)

As for the blog, you do have a "contact me" section, but there's nothing under each post to comment on.

      fatontheinside

I see where the issue is. There is a comment section but you actually have to "click" on the blog that you're reading. The way its set up, you can scroll through each blog but if you actually click that particular article, a comment section pops up at the bottom. I'll see if there is a way that I can edit that.

You're right, having cavernous pits does mean I've met my goal so I suppose I should be happy about that! :)

  12. Drink miralax like the other posts have mentioned...the LAST thing you want to do is get plugged up. With the iron that you're taking and the pain meds, it will be hard to go #2. I actually had to go to the ER once because of impacted bowel and let me tell you...that was the WORST experience ever! I have never been in so much pain. it was literally like having a baby. get plenty of liquids and that will help too. I now take a fiber pill a few days a week to stay regular. Good luck! Swallowing air questions

This will happen a lot at the beginning...don't worry, it will get better. You're actually sucking in and don't realize it. @@Martha Parker-mcneal is right, blow out before you drink and that will help a little. Burping will become a way of life...so get use to it. Fitness tracker

@@MrsSugarbabe I just have the fit bit flex. The reason that I like it is because its like a little piece of plastic that you can put in an armband. I actually take that thing (the tracker) and put it in my sock so it is on my foot. The reason I do this is because my dad has the fitbit charge and he HAS to wear it on his wrist. He gets like 20k steps a day but its because he's moving his ARMS and not his legs/body. I find that mine, in my shoe, is FAR more accurate. I sync it daily with my Iphone so it keeps track of my sleep, calories, Water intake, etc. You can do challenges with friends too. I love it!!!

    Anyone eat cereal?

Ive put the special K Protein in my yogurt...otherwise cereal is a waste of time and precious tummy space. I will have a handful of regular cheerios if I need something sort of sweet. Other than that, stay away from the stuff. Too many carbs as everyone else has said. Linda www.fatontheinsideblog.wordpress.com

    Starting regular food

Im the exact opposite. I actually keep a list of things I cannot eat: skittles, boneless chicken wings, anything spicy, taco bell, cottage cheese... I would start out slow. Eat slow. Chew your food a LOT. Tiny tiny bites. I would start with something kind of soft like cheese... maybe boiled chicken with some sort of sauce...I stay away from mariner sauce because it makes my tummy hurt. Maybe you could tolerate cottage cheese but I can't. tuna... Good luck! Update us on how things go!! Linda www.fatontheinsideblog.wordpress.com

    Fitness tracker

I LOVE my fitbit. Not only does it track my steps but I put every single thing I eat and drink it in. I've been doing it for over a year and I would probably die without it. I totally recommend getting one!

    Reactive hypoglycemia

@@doyouhear this happens to me when I don't pay attention to what I am eating. I even had my doctor give me a meter to track my sugars. I have to be conscious to stick to my high Protein diet and take in NO MORE THAN 6 grams of sugar in my meals. Luckily, the feeling passes within about 30 minutes but that 30 minutes is the worst thing of my life. I just have to be SUPER diligent on what I eat, how much, and when. Consistency is the key. I hope this helps you!! Good luck on staying steady! Linda www.fatontheinsideblog.wordpress.com

    Tired already of liquid!

@@bossportsgal I would have given my left arm to eat a cheeseburger after my surgery. All I wanted to do was actually CHEW something...it was certainly the hardest part of my recovery period. I wish you the best of luck! I tried cottage cheese (but it made me yak), and then i used my stick blender and blended up regular soups and such for a little more consistency. I hope that helps a little!!! Linda www.fatontheinsideblog.wordpress.com

    45...preop, would you wait?

@@MaggieH2 Oh my gosh, You are me!!! I was your exact weight. Personally, I would wait. If you're anything like me...you LOVE food and you try SUPER hard to do the right thing but not being able to "enjoy" the cruise to its fullest will make you upset...and then in turn not have any fun. You're still going to get the surgery so another month or two won't be that horrible. Enjoy the cruise and make it your last big thing and then delve in and do the surgery. I hope that you have fun on your cruise and I wish you the best of luck on your surgery!!! 21. I am trying to get my insurance company (whom I work for) to cover my brachioplasty. It has been denied and then I appealed and it was denied again. They keep saying that its cosmetic but I've submitted proof of rashes, rubbing, length of hang, etc and still nothing. I have the option of a 2nd level appeal but I'm wondering if its even worth it. Suggestions?

    What was your longest stall?

I agree with everyone else. 90 pounds is such a wonderful accomplishment! That honeymoon weight loss portion is over and now the real work begins. Exercise, increase your Water, start building muscle and don't rely on the scale! Get measurements of your body and keep track that way. The scale is evil and it doesn't tell you your water weight and that type of stuff Keep up the good work!! Linda www.fatontheinsideblog.wordpress.com

    Am I on track?

@@20mustang02 totally 100% normal. Everyone is different and depending on how big you were depends on how much weight you lose and how fast you lose it. My dad was well over 300 and he dropped weight like bowling balls. I was smaller so it was only 4 or 5 pounds a week. You were just cut open so you have Water weight and your body is in shock. Give it a few days. I also got REALLY tired and weak...that's normal too for about 2 months. You're healing. Best of luck to you! Linda www.fatontheinsideblog.wordpress.com

    Pureeing foods

I wouldn't waste the money... You're not going to be on pureed foods that long anyway...only a few weeks so just use your blender. I might invest in one of those stick blenders/wands...the ones that stand up...but those are versatile...

    Bread?

NO! Don't eat bread. There is no specific nutritional value in it that you need. if you're craving bread, make sure to toast it first. You'll probably only be able to eat 1/4 of it anyway. It can get stuck and make you sick and throwing up is a pain in the butt. I've made a "No" list and on it is bread, noodles, breaded chicken (like boneless wings), spicy foods, and sweet foods. Best of luck to you!! Linda www.fatontheinsideblog.wordpress.com
