You sound like a smart man! My husband would never say that to me either unless he wanted to die! Lol However you know what I'm saying. He would have been right to say "well you chose to have this surgery etc etc" but instead he just listened and asked if there was anything he could to make it better. Short of time traveling into the future where I get to start soft "real" food I don't think so! Just listening and showing his support is plenty. ~Ashley~

This. So much this. I got so mad at my husband one time when he was actually trying so hard to be helpful! Of course, I wasn't mad at him at all, just mad that I was feeling crappy and nothing was making me feel better. What I really needed was gas-x strips and kaepectate, lol. She will want to feel better sooner than she will, and that can be hard, so be kind and patient and aware of what her needs are. I like to be mostly left alone when hurting or sick, but some people need a cuddle or to be doted on. You know your wife. Same here. I'm not even a week out and had a huge breakdown today. Like ugly crying breakdown. He listened and did not critize me. Mainly it was "I'm hurting, I'm hungry, I'm tired etc etc..what did it do to myslef?" He knows as well as I do that I chose this. But I for sure didn't want to hear "Suck it up buttercup! You chose to have this surgery, so get over it. " Just like the other ladies said be there for her. Also if you have kids try to keep them out of her hair. You delegate and take care of them. Try to let her rest. Sounds like you will do fine! Good luck. ~Ashley~

Looking for Flavorless Protein Shake help!
abaker04 replied to Vee16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unflavored. I was told GENEPRO from one of my nutritionists, but I've also heard isopure was good too. Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App I have ordered Isopure and GenePro both! They should be here by Tuesday. I think that this will be my best option. ~Ashley~ -
64 oz of fluids 5 days post op...no way...
abaker04 replied to daisy63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought my protein shakes, broths ect counted as liquid too. My NUT told me that anything that has protein in it is no longer counted as liquid. Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App Oh wow. Ok good to know. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yeah, kinda sucked to find that out because I found this protein water that had 30 grams (I think) of protein in it per bottle and was like I got this all figured out lol Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App My doc told me the opposite?! Hmm. Maybe I'm confused lol. Idk. ~Ashley~ -
Already sleeved question
abaker04 replied to sleeveme17's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes they do. For the most part I only told a few people. Obviously if I lose at a decent pace other people will ask what going on. I plan to tell them. However if anyone says "that's the easy way out" I might just have to throat punch them. Right now this had been anything but easy! You are right though it's about what we want to do. When I told my sister she was like "why I don't get it?" My response was "well I'm technically obese with about 80lbs overweight. I have high blood pressure along with osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, back pain, joint pain etc" should I go on? Her response was "Well I think you are fine but if this is what you want to do!" Excatly..my choice. Keep your head up. ~Ashley~ -
Had mine in the 18th. On the second day I was like "WTH did I do" lol...day by day it's getting better. ~Ashley~

2 Days Post Op - All the details of surgery day...that I can remember anyways
abaker04 replied to FindingCarrie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No I cut the caffeine out a few weeks before. I did realize shortly after posting that a big side effect from the Zofran was headaches. Haven't had a Zofran all day and haven't had a heapache either so I'm assuming that was the assailant! ~Ashley~ -
Same thing here surgery was on Wednesday. Better as each do goes on! ~Ashley~

2 Days Out - feeling pretty awful
abaker04 replied to Holly McQuillan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Had mine on the 18th...feeling more human today as well. Still very sore but the nausea isn't as bad. I also think that the Zofran was giving me headaches as that is a major side effect. ~Ashley~ -
Omg this breaks my heart for you. I'm very sorry. I wonder if this happens often? Not very encouraging words I know..I'm just kinda in shock because I have never heard of it. ~Ashley~

Has anyone been getting headaches? Mine are coming and going. ~Ashley~ -
I had mine on Wednesday as well. Still very sore. Just goes to show you that the muscles we use we don't realize what we have until it's been taken away (temporarily of course). I will say that so far today has been better pain & nausea. I'm still only doing water/dilutated juice. Day 3 starts Protein shakes. I'm going to do my best. The way even Water feels going down I don't know how well I'm going to do. ~Ashley~

This sounds promising to me. I have Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, and high blood pressure. I also have a ruptured disc. A few years ago I saw a surgeon and he said that if I dropped some weight my life would improve greatly. I hate having to take meds. My ultimate goal is to have a better quality of life for myself, my 4 kids, and hubby. I know that it's not a cure all for everything but from what I have heard alot of people with the same issues have a much better quality now overall with weightloss. I got the the point where I asked myself...I'm 33 years old and I feel like this. What will I feel like at 43 at this rate?!" ~Ashley~

What is wrong with literal overly sensitive assholes?
abaker04 replied to xoxococojay's topic in Rants & Raves
I think it was great information. Of course I had My sleeve about 36 hours ago so I'm questioning myself. I have heard for some (not all) that the pain/1st 3-4 days are the worst. Hopefully this is true. I was so ready to get right and be healthy for my kids and myself now it's sinking in...OMG I just had them cut out over half of my stomach?! Anyways got off track but I didn't find anything wrong or offensive in what you wrote. Maybe they wanted to teach the class & they were just jealous. ~Ashley~ -
January 2017 Sleevers!
abaker04 replied to magnificent2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oo wish I had some of those about now. Just got home. It's been now 24 hours as I went back way later than expected. I'm very sore and hurting. Guess that's normal. Did alot of walking. I don't mind drinking the Water but anything else makes me super nauseous. I am however trying to remember to do it every 15 mins. Not going to lie had some very bad pain this am and was in tears wondering what I had done to myself! Hoping that this pain is almost over with. I have heard that the first 3 days is the hardest. ~Ashley~ -
2 Days Post Op - All the details of surgery day...that I can remember anyways
abaker04 replied to FindingCarrie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was less than 24 hours ago. From 8pm to now I have had a total of 10oz of Water and 2 15ml dose cups of apple juice. They are working on releasing me today. I think the insides muscle pain etc is the worse. Finally starting to release some of this gas, but it even hurts to burp. Alot of walking helped. So couple of questions..someone told me that they should do a scan to make sure there are no leaks. Is that only something that's done If you are throwing up? Is 10oz of liquid ok for less than 24hrs post op? Also I'm not looking forward to my hour and half drive home. ~Ashley~ -
January 2017 Sleevers!
abaker04 replied to magnificent2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too !! So stoked Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using the BariatricPal App -
Ok so this is going to seem super silly. I just found this app last night and hoping if anyone can ease my fears it's people going through the same thing. I have this irrational fear that what if I do this, what if I make this drastic change and it does me no good? What if I don't lose weight? What if I feel the same? This is completely irrational I know. I have several people that I'm close with and alot more that have had it and changed for the better. Why is this still running through my mind. I have gotten better about it. Now Ijust ready more than anything. However that small fear is still there. Please tell me I'm not alone in this?
