Cindy...oh no, I knew you were worried that would happen. Since you're on meds., I'll bet you caught it in time and will do just fine and everything will go on as planned. Wow, 10 lbs. that's GREAT. I don't know how much I've lost because I'm constantly drinking fluids. Probably somewhere around 7-8 lbs. Have a good flight if I don't hear from you before you go ....i know you'll have a lot to do. I'm sure everything will be turn out great. Good luck.

Self employed now, inspecting convenience stores/food service, merchandising and mystery/secret shopping.

Hi Carol, it's Carol from Ohio. I'm at day 7 of the liquid diet. Surgery is April 8 with Dr. Curry in Cincinnati, self pay. I also feel like I'm starving. I want just plain tuna or even a boiled egg would help. I'm on a low protein low calorie liquid diet...so I just keep drinking broth, hot tea (with splenda) and lots of water. I can have up to 2 slim fasts a day but I'm saving one for lunch and dinner. Husband is off working out of town and it's just me, my dog Kodi and the refrigerator/pantry. I work from home and today is one of the days when I wish I weren't so near the kitchen and worked in an office. Actually, the beef broth satisfies me more than the chicken....don't know why. Hang in there.

Hi NeNe. It's Carol, another April 8'er from Ohio. Hope your pre-op diet is going ok. Dr. is Trace Curry in Cincinnati, self pay. One week to go. Hang in there. I am drinking lots of water to feel full.

Hi, Columbus, it's Carol from Athens, OH!! My surgery date is April 8 with Dr. Curry in Cincinnati. I'm self pay. Where is your consultation? Welcome to the forum.

Lisa, I thought I was going to be put on a Medifast diet but when I went to dr. last Tuesday they recommended a low protein, low carb diet. I have kidney disease (diagnosed at age 22 and I'm now 54) and too much protein can be damaging. One kidney is not functioning and one's working around 65%. That was probably TMI. I can have slim fast (1-2 a day) broth, SF jello, 1/2 c. cott. cheese, and all the water I care to drink!!! Everyone else at the diet class got boxes of Medifast that included drinks, soups, bars. I was kinda looking forward to that. I'll make it...just so hungry.

I ate is already ...the wallpaper is gone. Actually what is ironic is that we're redoing an old farm house, 3 rooms are completely torn up and we're using a paint that resembles caramel. I didn't taste it but I did wonder.
-
hi folks. My date is April 8. I am on the torturous liquid diet. I am so hungry that Kodi my husky is looking tasty:tt1:....if he just weren't so furry...plus he can run really fast and I can't. Anyway good luck to all the Aprils. Carol from Ohio

Cindy, that's FANTASTIC.....8.5 lbs. Yea, i get the keeping it hush hush around your clients. I considered Mexico and made inquiries. Everyone would be offering their opinion and you don't need the stress. Then I started figuring in the airfare and the needing to find a dr.in states for fills. Being from Ohio the flights would be too costly. So my Dr. (Curry) charges $12.5K incl 2 years fills. I had to pay a $400 program fee up front. I kinda figured it would probably work out being about the same in the long run. Keep up (or down) the impressive dieting!

Hi folks. It's Carol, age 54, from SE Ohio. Surgery set for April 8. Getting nervous and excited.:rolleyes2: On a modified low protein pre op diet due to kidney disease. Trying not to think much about hunger pangs. Trying to get off coffee....or at least lessen the amount. Self pay, Dr. Trace Curry, Cincinnati. BMI 41. Good to be on this forum. -
Great 2 oz cups for food
carol4784 replied to AZnikki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is too funny. I used to do food demos at Walmart and when I stopped I had HUNDREDS of these little souffle cups left over (that the demo co. supplied) ....so I gave them to our church to use for Bible School, painting, snacks, etc for the kids. Hubbie said when could we possibly EVER need the little cups? I think I've seem them at WalMart..I'll look today. -
What are your non-scale-related goals?
carol4784 replied to LisaB411's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
to get off at least half of my 7 prescriptions, slide into an Applebee's booth and not have table stuck in gut, buy clothes from a non-plus size store, feel better around my very patient husband.....those are my top 4 -
Hi Carol422 it's carol4784 ....I know you had to jump thru hoops....sorry about that...I know it's not been easy. I had a terrific scare ...my cardiologist was insisting that I have another procedure pre-op and it was going to cost me $8-10K, kept reminding their office that ins would not cover so just yesterday my family dr came thru and said it was totally not necessary. I was a complete basket case. My bp was dangerously high and I know it was because of this latest trauma/drama. Now I can breathe....I kinda lost my appetite on Wednesday when all this was going on..I was hoping for something good. I spent a lot of time on the phone with drs. office and insurance co. first saying procedure would be paid for and then oh no....we made a mistake...it won't be covered. Oh, I almost forgot in a year or so the procedure would have had to be undone and that would cost another $5K or so. If I'm gonna spend that much money I'd better be driving something nicer or have something sparkley around my neck...or better yet new furniture. The diet is going ok...i think I've lost 3 lbs. husband 7...but I knew that was going to happen. I think I'll fix some dinner now. haha yummy slim fast, water. keep in touch.

hi Lisa. I can't believe surgery is a week from Tuesday. I had a little complication in that my cardiologist was requiring me to have pre-op procedure that costs $8-10K and I'm self pay. My insurance does not cover WLS or anything relating to it. I was FREAKING OUT. Dr. Curry and my family Doc (who I just saw yesterday for my history, etc. said it just wasn't necessary.) Lisa from Curry's office called me yesterday and said all info. from my dr. had been received so I'm GOOD TO GO!!! Now I'm happily on day 3 of liquid diet....it's really not so bad. My husband (bless him) is doing diet with me and he's lost 7 lbs. and me about 3. I knew that was going to happen. Everyone at Dr. Curry's has been incredibly patient with me, almost daily calls due to medical stuff. I'm really trying to slow down on the coffee...that's going to be my next project. Are you close to Cincinnati? I'm in Athens....3 hr. drive to Curry's. It would be awesome if I could find a fill buddy and share rides to save on gas $. Just think....we'll get better mileage as we lose our weight!! Keep in touch. When do you do your diet class and pre-op testing? Hang in there.

hi CinniMae. Have you thought about wearing a mask? If your clients know you're having surgery I wouldn't think they'd mind. And keep saying I won't get sick... I don't have time to get sick, etc. (to yourself...or out loud, whatever). Being a self pay makes me want it more and in a I don't want to screw up mode. Really I'm just jealous of folks who have insurance coverage ...they are just incredibly lucky. I have insurance that will pay $70k for a cardiac bypass but won't pay $13k for something that would have prevented the cardiac bypass. Go figure. Hang in there and stay in touch.

hey April 8ers! Carol from Ohio here. Started pre-op diet 3/26. On a low protein diet due to kidney disease. I was actually looking forward to the Medifast diet that Dr. Curry (Cincinnati) requires of his regular/normal patients. Guess I'm not normal or regular. I get Slim fast, (up to 2 a day) broth, SF jello, and all the SF liquid I can drink. Finally, just today got clearance from regular doctor--cardiologist tried to throw a wrench in by requiring another pre-op procedure that would cost additional $8K-10K. AND I'M SELF PAY. I was sweating it/freaking out for a couple days. My family doc said it was not needed. YEA. Getting excited. This has been quite a trip. Best of luck to all of you.

charged whole thing to Norweigan cruise line master card ($12,500). Pay off card every month so......when I get bill will take about $5K from savings and put the rest on home equity account. It shouldn't increase payment too much. We should have enough points to take cruise after I lose 110 lbs. We charge about everything...the trick is we pay it off every month. Sometimes it's rough but we manage.

Hi it's Carol from SE Ohio. Good luck on that quitting smoking. I know it's going to be hard. I had my last cigarette on 12/19/05.....later that day I had a heart attack and on 12/21/05 i had 5x coronary bypass at 51 (now that sucked). Anyway that was a lousy way to quit and if I had known that cigarette that morning was going to be my last I would have enjoyed it more. Anyway I'm sure you'll do fine. After about 5 years of checking into surgery, and even RNY I am now self pay (my ins. co. excludes weight loss surgery) and having surgery on April 8 with Dr. Trace Curry in Cincinnati. I don't know what to take because I haven't even thought about that yet. Flying is great fun...don't worry about it but try to sleep if you can. I can't sleep in any type of moving vehicle so I just take a good book and listen to everyone else snore. -
hi i'm Carol from se ohio. I am self pay, Dr. Trace Curry near Cincinnati. Price all inclusive is $12,500. plus 2 years fills. Surgery date is April 8. All other centers in Ohio priced from $14.5 to $18k. I don't think it will be a waste of $ altho i don't get insurance co rationale. My ins. co. will pay over $65K for 5 way coronary bypass but won't pay for something that probably would have prevented it:cursing:. I am excited and anxious. Good luck in your search.

thought i would chime in....i think LB is overpriced. I have had much better luck ordering stuff from Jessica London online. My surgery date is apr. 8 ...my plan will be buying from  second hand stores....i'm lucky we a couple used clothing stores b/c of being a university town.
-
hi carol it's carol 4784 from se ohio.....and we have same date.....April 8, . Dr. Curry Cincinnati, oh, self pay. I'm a little older (54) and BMI 41. Feel younger than 54 and act younger I think. Yea for us. Is Joliet near Chicago? We'll need to keep in touch.

i meant to say ins. co. excludes WLS that i now have. oops

hi it's Carol from Athens. I have been researching this for several years. Around 5 years ago i tried to get RNY bypass but my insurance co turned me down 2x because i had not been overweight by 100 lbs. for 5 years. I had insurance that covered WLS. Now I have insurance but it includes WLS. So price was very large consideration. I have gone to presentations for Cinn. Weight Loss Center and Holzer but they wanted like $16K and $18k respecctively. I saw ad for Dr. Trace Curry near Cincinnati. I told them I had researched and gone to 2 presentations so I could skip theirs. I had appt. 2/28 and am scheduled for surgery on April 8. I was very very impressed with Dr. Curry and his staff (almost all of his staff have had the surgery) and the one that I have talked to the most has not but I try not to hold that against her...she's actually awesome. Dr. Curry was very personable and answered all my questions. If I had insurance I may have gone to Dr. Curry anyway. that's way more than you probably wanted to hear. And the $12.5 K price includes 2 years of fills.
