I asked the ? is $12.5K the total fee...after the initial $400? I was told that's it....the total package.....doctor's, hospital, anesthesiologist, everything....there would be no other charges....and I had to pay my entire fee 3 weeks before my surgery date....which was paid the exact date it was due. There was no mention of any additional charges after the surgery. The more I think about this the angrier it makes me. Frankly, it's bugging the he** out of me. It sucks that my insurance does not cover weight loss surgery.....it'll pay $70k+ for heart bypass surgery....I know from first hand experience.....so then I was self pay.....let's go with someone who has a lot of experience and is well thought of...and that particular doctor was offering a package deal. Really anxious for Mon. am to get here so I can make my phone call.

absolutely no complications during surgery. Anything down the road dr. will cover so they say....but if hospitalization is required will need to pay for that hospital........

I'm hoping it is just a billing error, someone punching wrong set of keystrokes, etc. I'm trying not to dwell on this...but it's really difficult. This could get very STINKY. My surgeon is a well respected and experienced doc. I also have well respected and experienced SIL AND BIL that are attorneys.

Hi Carol from Carol. Just wanted to stop in and see how you're doing. I'm doing fine. I did 25 minutes on the recumbent bike today...back to pre-band minutes. . HAPPY BIRTHDAY tomorrow.

from pre-op to post band, 4/8, I've lost 19 lbs.....been there for 3 days....tomorrow will be better I'm sure. Size 22 jeans are getting baggy so I know something' going on....or off.

welcome back Cindy. This was definitely my best day. So glad you made it thru ok. I'm a little sore too but no gas like some others have had. Sometimes I have to almost pinch myself.....I really did it....WE really did it. Congratulations to us. :thumbup::eek:

hi checking in 2 days post op. Feeling better. Walking, walking, walking around the house. No gas pains.....yet. maybe i'll be one of the lucky ones. Picked up some in the house and got recycling ready for tomorrow and was pooped. Not a lot of stamina...but i'll get there. No appetite yet...keep sipping water. DH has been WONDERFUL:biggrin:....he's dieting too.

got home today after surgery 4/8. Am fairly sore but the Lortab elixer helps. Am sipping, walking a lot in the house and resting. Everything went very smoothly. No gas pains yet...i keep thinking i'll get some but maybe I won't. Dr. Curry and hospital staff were awesome. Taking it easy.:thumbup:

Hi, back home from 4/8 surgery. Everything went totally normal. Hospital staff was great. Dr. said I could go home last evening if I'd want but I said had already planned on staying over (with 3 hour drive home) private room was already paid for and husband had bed beside be. I won't do a blow by blow here cause my stomach feels like someone took batting practice on it or a crazed cook with a rolling bin went ballistic. No doubt about it there is some pain. I need to hit the pain meds. again. Got up and walked last night...nurses were impressed. They said all the rest of Curry's patients were still in bed. Sipping water, on way home in car got case of hiccups....now that was unfun!! All in all nothing was unexpected, hospital, dr. was great will do more in depth "report" later...maybe tomorrow...when it doesn't hurt so much to sit up straight. Oh, yea. almost forgot...i got the second generation Realize band.

Hi all April 8ers. Tomorrow is the DAY. Good luck everyone. Keep thinking about Cindy and hope her cold got better. This'll probably be my last post pre-surgery....gotta work today, plus Kodi to kennel, pack, etc. It's gonna be a very busy day....which is great.....less time to get nervous. Hi mstars. There's Cindy from KC, Cora WA, and two Carols (IL and OH) that lurk here....that are having surgery April 8th. Welcome. There are a few more April 8ers around....maybe another 3 or 4 that maybe haven't discovered this thread. Getting so excited. Not really very hungry.. am used to liquid diet and feel almost like a little kid at Christmas.:biggrin: Have lost somewhere between 10 and 12 lbs.:regular_smile: Dr. Curry Cincinnati, self pay.

hi Carol, etc. travel/work got cancelled today (the beauty of self employment)....we're going tomorrow instead. DH is working in the yard before monsoon arrives...now weatherman says maybe 3 inches of rain. It's cloudy and around 50 here. I have had some very intense intestinal discomfort.....needless to say there is no constipation!!..maybe i'll lose a few more lbs., feels like i've picked up some kind of stomach bug. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Hi Cora, Cindy and Carol....from Carol in OH. You know what helps? Sleep. Being retired and self-employed I slept in. Today our work day will start about noon and we'll get home around 9 pm so it'll all work out in the end. We'll be on the road so it'll be an interesting day dieting. What woke me up was the mower. The DH is mowing the grass, first time this year. It was really high....he was getting it before the expected 2 inches of rain gets here. Diet is going ok, not quite so hungry today. Have lost about 10 lbs. Can hardly believe surgery is just a few days away. Getting pretty excited.

Part 2...hope your husband's checkup goes ok. I keep thinking about Cindy and hope she's doing ok. I've seen another couple April 8'ers but they aren't on the list.

Hi, yes I can have broth and jello...what I'l craving is protein. I want boiled egg, tuna, but I am on strict liquids only. I want to chew something. I can have up to 2 slim fasts a day.l..I can have V-8 juice too. My jeans are a lot looser so I know I've lost but not sure how much. I know the most accurate scale reading is when you get up in the morning but in the middle of the night I drink water and decaf iced tea....my stomach growling is waking me up....I'm chugging on a hot decaf tea right now. It'll help for a while. I was going to take Kodi for a walk but we might go to DP (dog park) instead. They have potties there. With so much liquid in I'd be dodging behind neighbor's bushes if I take walk thru neighborhood. Not sure they'd appreciate that.

Hi I'm another April 8th. There are at least 5 others on the forum that are scheduled for that day. I have been on restricted liquid (low Protein, low calorie) diet since last Wednesday. I just keep drinking away on my sugar free liquids. Good luck to you. Dr. Gurry, April 8, Cincinnati, OH

Hi Wannabehealthy. Carol from Ohio here. I'm April 8th too!! Day 8 pre-op diet. I think you showed wonderful restraint with the chicken. I am on low Protein, low calorie and it bites. Hi Carol ...from Carol. How's the diet coming. I am so hungry most of the time I can hardly stand it. I just want some protein....and I'm limited on that too. Thus, I have been sleeping a lot. I figure if I can't eat, I'll sleep. Not a good plan. And I drink a lot too, decaf tea and water. But you know what happens....with so much drinking naps don't last very long if you know what I mean. It's such a nice day I think I'll take Kodi (husky) for a walk. I'm praying Cindy's illness is a short lived event, and the meds. kick in. DH is off working today so I need to get going on data entry (stuff he did yesterday)....then dog walk.

Congratulations. Sounds like you're doing GREAT! Am starting to get really anxious about my surgery on April 8. Remember keep walking and keep drinking. Take care.
