  1. Hi Susie. My doctor told me that it was OK to have soda's. But he said to drink Coke Zero or Sprite Zero. He also said to pour it over ice first and let it sit for afew minutes to let the fizz settle. Haven't had any problems so far. Good Luck Stephanie

    Alcohol and Pre-Op Diet

I think the main reason for the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver so alcohol would be a big NO NO !!! I was told no alcohol so i didn't even think about it. My pre-op diet was also 2 liquids and 1 sm. meal, it was hard at first but it got alot easier during the second week. Good Luck  Stephanie
  3. Hi jenniferg, I was banded on May 29th and right away i started feeling like i had a baby inside me. It was kicking and flipping all over the place  My stomach got so sore and sensitive to the touch. Everyone kept telling me that it was just big gas pockets. Everytime i coughed or laughed it felt like something was ripping inside me. I finally called the doctor and they told me that it was only my port. That my muscles were having spasms because it had a foreign object touching them and it was trying to kick it out. But don't worry it does get better. It is still sore to touch but the spasms finally stopped. Good luck and if your concerned then call the doctor. Stephanie

    When should I call insurance?

I called the ins. about a week and a half after it was sent. I used the excuse that I just wanted to make sure that they did recieve it and if they hadn't i will have it sent again so that it wouldn't slow up the appoval process They believed me and searched around for it and found out that i was already approved. I just didn't want to sound like i was impatient. Good Luck !!!!!!! Stephanie

    BCBS "blue hospital cert" ??

Hi Dee, I also have BCBS and I went though True Results but the insurance would not pay if i had it done at the clinic. They require me to stay over night. So True Results found one of their doctors that was on my network and assigned me to him. And one of the hospitals that was also on my network was one that they use, so it all worked out to my benefit b/c the ins. payed 90% of the doctor, 90% of the anesthesiologist, and 80% of the doctor. I payed pennies compared to other people. I still did my monthly weigh in's and eveything else at the True Results clinic. And don't worry about the 6 months of dieting. I actually gained a little weight. I didn't do a thing. I ate normal, sometimes a little more , walked a little, and did all the stuff they told me to do, like see the nutrionalist, weight history from family doctor, mental exam, etc.. I thought it was going to take forever, but it was over before i knew it and the ins. only took a week and a half to approve me. I am now 4 days post-op(May 29th) and glad i had the time to prepare. It helped having the time to set my mind to the changes that would happen and how my eating habits would change. Now that it is all done, I don't feel like i rushed into it. It will all work out, just be patient and do what they tell you to do and it will all pay off. Keep us posted. Stephanie
  6. Hi everyone, I finally did it. May 29th was the big day. Everything went smooth, except for a little nausea but I survived it. But for the last 3 days I keep having what i think are muscle spasms on the left side of my belly button. It feels like a baby in my stomach flipping around but it is very hard and it hurts. Just wondering if anyone else out there experienced the same thing. I was just trying to get through it because i didn't want to call the doctor over the weekend. I keep wondering if something is wrong but if this is common then i will feel much better. Please give me your input before i call the doctor tomorrow. Stephanie :confused2:

What kind of pre-op diet are you on?

Hey JohnsonS, we are pretty much on the same diet. But you get 2 meals a day. I can have only one meal a day with 2 shakes and a cup of fruit. What I am doing must be working because I have only been on the diet 4 days and have already lost 7 lbs. I have 1 shake for Breakfast, small fruit mid-morning, chicken and lots of veggies for lunch(spinach, greenbeans, tomato's,peas, greens, broccoli), small fruit mid-afternoon, and for dinner, a vanilla shake blended with sugarfree vanilla pudding and fresh fruit like strawberries. The pudding thickens the shake and it sets longer and better in the stomach. Let set in the frig. to thicken for a while. I thought at first i would starve, but it has not been too bad and I still have to do this for 2 more weeks. Hope some of this helps. And Good Luck on the 21st. Keep us posted. Stephanie

    Approved by Insurance!!!

Congats!!!!! My name is Stephanie and I also weigh about 260. My last weigh in is this Friday and then I will have to sit back and wait for the ins. approval. How long did it take for your ins. to come back with an answer? My clinic said the approvals are coming back really quick. I wish you luck and hope the surgery goes well. Keep us updated. Take Care, Steph

    Scared & Embarassed

Hi Whip. I go for my last weigh in this friday, then my surgery will be scheduled after the ins. approval comes in. Surgery will probably be around the first of May---fingers crossed---Yes, I am also scarred and embarrassed, but I try and think about the future. I think about what I will gain, not what i will lose(except weight). I just keep telling myself that i CAN do it and i WILL do it. It will be hard at first, but hopefully the results will pay off and it will make it easier and easier. I have told quite afew people and they were very supportive. I know 3 people who have had it done recently and they have been very successful so far. Only surround yourself with positive people. If you do not feel comfortable telling certain people, then don't tell them. Remember, this is you life, not their's. You do what you need to do to make you life better for yourself and your family. Other people can not make you feel bad about yourself unless you let them and other people can not make you feel good about yourself, you have to do that. Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Take Care, Steph
