    Meal Replacement Protein Powder

I have used the vega one chocolate. I thought it was too chalky. I use soy milk since it has more protein. I am going to use it for flavor with other ingredients in my smoothies. I will try to find the others at whole foods or online in some single palettes first. The texture may just be something I need to get used to. Thank you all so much for the help. Baking Advice Needed

Try happy herbivore or oh she glows recipes. I am vegan and I just use regular or whole wheat flour, sub eggs for neat eggs-store product, bananas, or my favorite unsweetened applesauce. I use agave nectar instead of sugar usually, sweetener and better for diabetics. I don't bake fancy. I would go by the normal recipe and just start worth a few adjustments of you can. Hope this helps

    Vegan & WLS

Almond milk has more protein than soy milk, seitan has a ton, Chia seeds and flax seeds can give shakes a boost.

    Forks over Knives

I take a multivitamin. It covers all the vitamins you need. It's not as hard as some people make eat seem. I like it because I hate cooking and it's much easier plant based.

    Forks over Knives

A great book to read is Dr. Neal Bernard's book 21 day kick start or breaking the food seduction. And dr. Furhmans book eat to live is good to. Just to clarify vegan is someone who uses no animal products, food, clothing, etc. A plant based diet is centered around plants and means you dint eat animal products. I wasn't a fan of stone odd the recipes so I use happy herbivore and oh she glows. Minimalist baker is good too. She also had vegetarian options. He explains it in a scientific way. Like neal degrasse Tyson says, the thing about science is its true whether you believe it or not. A plant base diet is base in proven scientific research. The leading cardiologists in the country recommend it. You don't hear about it because the meat industry is more profitable, big business. They make hundreds of thousands if not more a week. Why would they want you to stop? Always do heavy research then come to your own conclusion. It's not a cult, lol, when somethings different uneducated people assume the worst. Good luck!

    Lack of support...

That's not being mean. It's being honest. So many people want life sugar coated for them. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Lack of support...

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I researched alot so I can actually quote back to people specifics. Like your body may be at a set point and weight loss surgery decreases it. I believe for most weight loss surgeries there are less than 1% of fatalities that could happen. I would try to educate them more. Your friend that said but, then I'll be the fat friend, doesn't sound like a friend. Don't l let anyone treat you poorly just because you are doing something to increase your health. It just reminds me of when I was a push over. I let people get away with saying things like that. I would also sau something like, so your saying you don't want me to be healthy because you're afraid people will think you're fat? It's a very selfish way of thinking. People don't realize what they are saying until it's said back to them sometimes. As for plastic surgery. I would explain the wls isn't a quick fix. It takes people 2 or 3 years to get to the weight they want. They have to follow a strict way of eating for the rest of their l life. And exercise. Wls is just a tool. It really takes away all of the effort someone has put in when someone compares wls to plastic surgery. Tell her wls is like if she had a balloon in her boob and had to pump it up for 2 years before she got bigger Boobs. She used a tool to get big boobs. Sorry. Definitely set boundaries and explain exactly what you don't like and why it hurt you, and then state what you want from them. It's hard for me to tell people things like that so I use a DBT skill called DEARMAN, there's a version for relationships and another for respect, FASTMAN or GIVEMAN. If you gogo je it you'll find it. Hope it helps Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Weigh in and insurance

I had the same thing happen actually. I thankfully realized I had gained 5 lbs when I went to see a different doctor. I was 285 at initial apt and 290 a couple weeks later. Unfortunately every insurance is different. My surgeons group had a specific person who dealt with my insurance company's rules for the pre-op diet so I called her to verify. When I did see the 290lb I did get sad for a couple days because my insurance won't let me gain any weight. I have to stay the same or lose so I started looking at what I was eating. I have a sweet tooth. I'm working with a therapist now to get mentally prepared for after surgery, no binges or overeating, and cut back on sweets. I was able to get down to 284 in a week that way. I follow high protein, high fiber, low fat, low carb. Sugar doesn't make you fat, fat makes you fat. I'm also vegan. Animal meat is much more fatty than tofu, tempeh, or seitan. Oh, and don't know if you know this, drinking alot of water will help with water retention during your period which will help with weight. I also lift weights or do leg lifts, stability ball etc while I'm watching TV. I can't do much as I have back problems and chronic pain. These are just a few things I do. I hope these help you! Good luck! You can do it! Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

  18. Hi, I'm new to the forum. I am currently going through my previous open 6 month medically supervised wrought loss program. My PCP started me on 1500 calories. Low carb, high protien, high Fiber which was suggested by my surgeon. I weigh 285 so this is quite a change for me. I currently eat mostly vegan foods so I do get the correct amount of Protein. I have stopped eating vegan cheese, lowered my consumption of vegan sour cream, no longer drink pop. Eating more whole grains and omitting when possible. I have felt hungry most of the day. I am drinking Water and tea also to try and combat the feeling of hunger and get used to the recommended 64oz. I am also extremely tired most of the day. Because I'm hungry so much and not allowed to have sweets I have been eating says a few times a week sometimes overeating. Now I am having strong urges or cravings at times for sweets. I know that surgery is not a magic pill so I am very nervous about this problem. I want to be able to work out and try to lose some weight now to be in better shape for surgery, and that's hard when you feel hungry and fatigued all day. I was decided on getting the sleeve but I am now wondering if I should get the bypass? I decided against bypass due to more Vitamin deficiency and dumping syndrome. Did anyone else have this problem before surgery, especially the sweet tooth problem, and did it affect your weight loss after surgery? My first meeting with my surgeon is March 3rd so I will be discussing this with him but I would love some personal views/ advice. Thank you
  19. You look great. You are an inspiration for me. I'm currently on a 6 month preop diet am learning now that food is fuel. I don't have a surgery date for vsg yet but I am veer excited now! I'm so happy for you! Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
