  1. Hey all, I'm about two months post-op. Feeling better every day but I'm noticing some new things happening. I've tried, on two different occasions, to eat some like a tortilla with guacamole and have immediately and I mean IMMEDIATELY been overcome with the urge to vomit. Nothing comes up oddly enough but i get intense dry heaving. I then am no longer really interested in eating and just go drink a protein shake. I know that people's food preferences change after surgery but has anyone experienced anything like this? It's too the point that anything with a sauce or dip makes me queasy to even think about trying. Just the sight of it makes me sick. Just wanted to see if this was temporary or if I should move on from trying those types of foods anymore.

    Cannot stomach protein shakes

Yeah I would suggest liquid Protein. I couldn't take any more Protein shakes after my first few days. I got some Liquid Protein from a company on Amazon. They come in different flavors and they are essentially like crystal light. It just tastes like flavored Water. 15 grams of protein per serving. It's called Bariatric Choice. Painful Incision

My incision in my belly button still hurts after 7 days. When I had my follow up with my doc he said "it should. It's the largest one and that's where I pulled your stomach out." He told me to just take it easy and follow the steps he outlined and it will ease. I think others in here have mentioned ice or heat packs to soothe it. Maybe try those? 4. Hey all, Just wanted to suggest a Protein solution that I found per a suggestion from this board. I can't take another Protein shake. I just can't do it. I've been on them for a month now and I'm fairly confident I'll never willfully drink one again. I'm only 6 days post op and since I'm so sick of them I came to this app and saw someone suggest protein Water. Water is the only thing I ever want to drink. I don't want the shakes or anymore Gatorade. I went on Amazon and found liquid Protein by Bariatric Choice. My goodness has this been a blessing! To his point I've barely been able to consume anything besides plain water (I've always loved drinking water). But now I get something similar in taste to Crystal Light with 15g of protein per serving. You just add the liquid protein to the water and sip sip sip! I can't tell you how happy this has made me. I now feel a lot more confident about being able to stick to my doctor's requirements without feeling absolutely miserable and deprived during his liquid phase. Also, I was on here feeling pretty low in the days following my surgery. I'm sure I'll have more of them and I know you all will be there to lift me up, so I sincerely thank you all for your support. I'm more of lurker than a poster but I just wanted to share my protein find and my gratitude. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I had a meltdown :(

I really needed to read this. I'm only 3 days post op (had surgery on Monday 1/16) and I've regretted the surgery every day. Even seeing the weight loss is not even exciting. I hate not being able to drink as much Water as I want. I'm not even in much pain anymore but the esophageal spasms and gas are just regular annoyances that are so ongoing that they've made this almost intolerable. Getting my Gatorade and Protein shakes in have been a serious struggle too. I think I'm doing just enough to stave off dehydration but I'm one of those people that when they don't feel 100% it seems like it's the end of the world. I guess I'm just too impatient to get to the point where I feel normal again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Final pre-op appointment question

Thanks for all the feedback all! I just finished my appointment and my doc talked about how he makes sure to remove all the CO2 to minimize discomfort. So fingers crossed all goes well on Monday! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. Hey all, Just wondering what I can expect for my final pre-op appointment with my surgeon. I'm having it tomorrow and my surgery is scheduled for next Monday (1/16/17). I've been STRUGGLING with this liquid diet but have been on track for most of it. Just one week left...three more weeks post-op. Any details would be helpful. Thanks!
