ready2bgreat replied to wildthayne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am in Garabaldi, I flew to Ca and had my sleeve, everything is going well, I as expected am a slow looser. I am almost 5 weeks out and down almost 19 pounds. But I am finally getting the hang of this. NO regrets. still have kept it to myself, only a few select know, my hubby and 2 friends. Still wish we had support groups here on the coast up here. Do you have one in LC?? Did you go to Salem To get sleeved Kim? -
Not telling Mom/some others....opinions
ready2bgreat replied to ProfessorSlim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine is scheduled next week, My husband knows.. it took him a while to get behind it. My BFF knows and my boss knows. As for everyone else.. NO! People seem to feel very free to share their opinions with me and have no problem berating me, This is for me and I am not going to ask anyone's permission and don't want their input. I am on the liquid preop diet now so I am just joking with everyone that it is my "new Diet" since they have seen me diet 100's of times. They think my time off is just to go visit a friend out of town. I don't really feel dishonest I just feel like I am taking care of myself physically and mentally. -

ready2bgreat replied to wildthayne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I live On the Coast in Oregon as well, Flying to CA to have my Sleeve done on August 9th (an insurance thing) Very excited. Been searching for support groups on the coast but I haven't found any but I like this forum so far. Glad to connect with other people who understand me -
that is a great idea, I haven't watched any stories or even went to the b4 and afters on here yet, I have been caught up on all the researching on what my life changes are going to be and preparing that way. I like knowing I am educating and I am committed to this new life. My nervousness is going away, excitement is growing.

ready2bgreat replied to Jessalene's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled for August 9th, so excited, the nervousness is still there but going away, I have waited and been preparing so long. -
Ignatious, Linda and Harmony... I too have a Sleeve date of August 9th... seems like I have been waiting for almost a year and now I am so excited and nervous at the same time... Is that how you feel?? I have been on the protein shakes since Monday, so far so good. I think I am just so determined that this is my last shot to have a tool to change my life, that I am not fighting it. Tell me how you are doing?

Considering gastric sleeve and looking for local support
ready2bgreat replied to Awsc9362's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if you have a local place then I bet they have local support groups to make friends and have meetings with live people as well as this forum for support. That will be great, you might want to attend prior to, to ask questions? if they are open to that -

ready2bgreat replied to Awsc9362's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work for the hospital and I have to have it done at the same hospital "CHAIN" ( for lack of a better word) but the only one that does it is in California, unless I want to pay out of pocket. -
Considering gastric sleeve and looking for local support
ready2bgreat replied to Awsc9362's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in Garibaldi, and have not found any support groups unless I want to drive to Portland or Salem, The Oregon Coast just doesn't have it. but this forum is helpful. I am only in my beginning stages, I gt to Fly to CA to have my sleeve in July. -
I am not telling anyone either, just husband and friend in the town I have to fly to in order to have it done. I am doing what you are with wearing baggy clothes and posting about my workouts, and I have started eating smaller portions 4 times a day. This is when it becomes about US!!

6 Month Diet before the surgery prep diet
ready2bgreat replied to ItsTime4Change2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is what I am doing, I am only a month into my diet, We have no resources where I live so I am doing online weight watchers and seeing my PCP once a month and going to the YMCA nightly. I too have to lose a percentage of my weight. -
I am curious if it is because you are self pay? My insurance is having me do it and I am really concerned, I already see a therapist and take depressions meds... wondering if that is going to keep me from being able to get the sleeve, are they going to say I am unstable because I fight depression, I think part of it is my obesity

HIPAA violation: What would you do?
ready2bgreat replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in Rants & Raves
Working in the medical field , most of us take this very seriously and it isn't taken lightly, she probably sounded frustrated because she was upset with herself for making the mistake. Healthcare workers work long hours and are doing way too much multitasking! You can destroy it and report it to her superior to get her in trouble but it isn't usually something you are supposed to open, they are supposed to go to the next provider. So usually no harm done. .. but we get the frustration. totally
