I’m almost 10 months post op & lost 65 lbs from day of surgery. Some people say I’m getting too skinny (I’m 5’0” & at 130 lbs now). I hate people giving me their opinions about MY body. Frankly, I still feel like I’m that fat girl. I’m so grateful that I lost the weight fast. But prior to my sleeve, I was always put down for my weight. I don’t think those “scars” go away so quickly. People will always have their stupid opinions, but I haven’t “healed” from the negativity I endured over the several years I was obese. My mind hasn’t fully accepted I lost the weight. My mind still sees a fat girl when I look in the mirror. I know I can’t be the only one that feels this way. How did you cope with the rapid weight loss, especially when you’ve been obese for many years? I never want to go back, but I can’t wait for the day I look in the mirror & see the thin girl that everyone else sees. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 130 lbs, 10 lbs away from new goal. My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.

She means well. She probably didn’t notice my height. 130 lbs is very thin to most folks. My BMI says I should be at 100 - 110 lbs. honestly, I think I’ll look sick by that point. I’ll be happy at 120 & my BMI is listed as overweight in as 130. It doesn’t account that I’m very muscular in my legs & top heavy. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. I stopped going to this site for months. I agree that there’s been a lot of negativity lately. I don’t know why people are so negative when we’re all pretty much going through the same thing. Don’t leave this site. We need more positive people like us around. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). What's your story if you are keeping it a secret?
CocoNina replied to Gotalose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I told people months before surgery that I’m working on my weight loss via diet & exercise. So, it makes my weight loss look natural. I tell them I’m on a ketogenic diet which is technically true anyway. I kept it a secret because I don’t like people inputting their opinions on MY CHOICE, MY BODY. People can be so negative & gossip. Only my significant other & one friend know. At work, I said I was sick that’s why I needed time off and took my sick pay. I wasn’t specific about why I was gone & it’s really none of their business. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Anyone get busted lying about their surgery?
CocoNina replied to VSGnewguy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I kept mine a secret & only my significant other & one friend know I did it. Before surgery everyone knew I was working out & dieting anyway so they just see my results have paid off through diet & exercise. I made sure I made it known to the world months before surgery that I was working on my weight loss, so it all gradually looks legit & not so drastic. Two people have asked if I had surgery & I just say no. My choice, I want to keep my surgery a secret. It’s very personal to me. Plus, I know a lot of people that are so negative & gossip so much. I don’t want to deal with people’s opinions. It’s bad enough they used to always say I’m fat, now those same people are saying I’m getting too skinny. All the more reason I keep to myself. CocoNina replied to Lulu_RNY's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you. Sometimes I give in because of habit. I was the type (pre -op) to always need desert or something sweet after dinner. Right now I’m on my period, so that’s another reason why I give into something sweet. But the difference between then (pre-op) and now (post-op) is that I eat a significantly small amount compared to before. I take 2 or 3 bites and I’m done. I eat low or no carb throughout the day, so I’m good with the eating. Low or no sugar chocolate just doesn’t do it for me. I rather have the real deal in a significantly small amount. You haven’t had surgery yet so don’t be so fearful. Just focus on your recovery. Your stomach and taste buds will change after surgery. I don’t binge on bad foods and sweets like I used to. I enjoy eating healthier and it fills me up unlike before. The benefits outweigh the tiny fact that I still love sweets. I still exercise and I still lose weight. Fell off the wagon - 7 mo. post op - 3.5 mo. stall - HELP
CocoNina replied to hawaiiskies's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was in a case study for my therapist. I let her study me for a month in my 6 month post-op by giving her feedback of her questions & discussions. What she told me was an eye opener. Most WLS patients are done with their “honeymoon phase” after 6 months since we’ve lost so much weight in a short amount of time & now we can tolerate all foods again & that’s where the real lifestyle habits begin, will we stick to our proper plan or go back to our old ways? What we do between the 6 months to 1 year mark will say a lot about the rest of our lives. I’ll admit, last month (my 9th month post-op) I got a little lose in my eating. I started drinking Diet Coke again & eating cookies, chocolate, & French fries. What I find is, I eat much less of it. I can’t finish a candy bar & eat a small amount of fries (like 10 pieces). I learn to just accept that I like what I like but to eat in moderation. Know my limits & not to be so hard on myself bcuz throughout the day I have been eating my protein, vegetables, & exercising. I think at this point in our lives we have to learn to make a limit for ourselves unlike before when we just overly consume. Talking to your therapist will help a lot since they’ll make you understand why you are going back to old habits. I know I learned a lot from my therapist & don’t feel that bad anymore. I just have to keep track of my “bad” food as much as I do with my good food. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). What are everyone's goals milestones and celebrations.
CocoNina replied to GwennyPenny's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congratulations! I think it’s great to set goals because it gives us something to work towards & it feels so great to achieve those goals. I’m almost 10 months post-op. My original goal for a healthy BMI was 140. Now I’m 10 lbs below that & have 10 more left to lose. I haven’t exactly celebrated yet but I dream of one day going to the beach and not be ashamed to wear a bikini/swimsuit. I’m hoping to reach my new goal by New Year’s Day. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 130 lbs, 10 lbs away from new goal. I’m almost 10 months post op. Frankly, I give in to my cravings sometimes, just to keep myself from becoming “obsessed” with that said craving again. The good part is, I’m fine after one or two bites. Before surgery I’d consume ALOT more than that. I’m scared to gain too but when I account my exercise & good eating from the whole day, one bite won’t kill me. It’s about balance & knowing your limits. Which I believe what we’ll have to know and deal with the rest of our lives now. -
Biking after surgery/general exercise questions

Yes, it’s normal. Your body is healing from the surgery & you’re taking in so much less calories than before. It took me 2 months for my body to adjust to less calories. traveling for work to NYC, BEST HEALTHY RESTAURANT OPTIONS!
CocoNina replied to Natí Beesh's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There's a place in Times Square that you customize your burgers. I customized it without the bun. You can pretty much go to any restaurant and look at the salad menu or have a protein & vegetables minus the carbs. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. I had constipation from consuming so much protein (liquids) my first few weeks post-op. What worked best for me was milk of magnesia. Call your doctor or nurse because sometimes taking laxatives, etc... might make you dehydrate since you're only consuming liquids & that's all that going to come out. How to simply track my eating and drinking? Apps seem too complicated.
CocoNina replied to GotProlactinoma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got lazy inputting info on the apps so stopped using it. Eating smaller portions is how I "measure" my meals now, so I measure how much food I put in my small plate (usually I'm good between 4 oz - 6 oz of food). Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 140 lbs, now ready to lose 15 more past goal. 4.5 months Post Op.... 6lbs from "Goal Weight"

I'm considered a "fast responder". My consultation was October 2016, Surgery February 2017, and currently 6 months post op (August 2017) and has lost 77 lbs altogether (I always calculate it via my consultation date since that determined if I qualified or not). There wasn't any secret, I followed my dietitian's plan to a T. And with what the other poster said about genetics, I was not fat all my life. My weight now is the same weight I was 12 - 13 years ago. Until I got obese in 2008, I weighed an averaged of about 120 -130 lbs. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 140 lbs, now ready to lose 15 more past goal. My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.

How do I know when I'm full!?
CocoNina replied to Supernovae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what my nutritionist told me, you should reach your goals daily. Protein 60-80 oz (women) & liquids 48 oz or more a day. I knew I felt full when I felt like gagging on the next sip. When I get tired of eggs for breakfast I eat a slice of ham. I'm an "on the go" person so I rarely have time to eat breakfast so I add protein to my coffee.
