Yes, you can pack Protein powders in your suitcase. You can travel with protein packets by unjury so it would be easier to take with you instead of measuring it out from a jug & separating them with ziplock that might open. It was hard for me to consume a lot of protein so when you drink liquids there are many options of non-carbonated & diet drinks like Snapple, crystal light, etc... Soups, baked or grilled (no fried) options, & reduce or have no carbs as much as possible. Use vegetables as a filler. You won't be able to consume much anyway so don't feel bad about taking food home. And make sure you drink non-caloric and non-carbonated beverages. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. My nutritionist gave me a book or a guide with all the food phrases. For Purée there are foods we can eat without blending it as long as you can mash it with a fork. They were foods like: baked/pouched: salmon, eggs. Also, tuna in a can and fat free refried beans. Fat free ricotta & low fat cottage cheese. I thought that was nice, it gives me less work to blend. I will blend the vegetables since that's what my book or guide says to do. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: - 71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Business Traveling & Food Choices
CocoNina replied to Stlchase's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I travel for work. I'm not a month in yet but I made a list for myself. If sandwiches are the only option, I'll just take out the bread. Or have whole wheat bread only. If I do to a restaurant or pub I'll look at the appetizers. Some pubs here make deviled eggs, which would be a good option. Basically, any chicken or fish that are grilled or baked. Keep the sides vegetables only. I live in California so we have "In & Out", luckily they make protein burgers which are burgers wrapped in lettuce instead of bread. Need advice: Protein drinks
CocoNina replied to Tonabella's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You can add beneprotein to soaps, drinks (any of your clear liquids), pudding, & gelatin. It's 6 grams a scoop. I always put 2 scoops for 12 grams. Fat free milk has protein. I like the Unjury protein, they have a sample package. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: - 71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). 1 month post-op & I had alcohol. I want experienced feedback please!
CocoNina replied to Sleeved_G's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so sorry to hear this happened to your friend. I'm surprised the doctor/psychologist let her go through with the surgery. I remember having to see the psychologist to make sure I'm mentally prepared & ready to get WLS. They told me they wouldn't do surgery on me until I quit smoking (I'm a social drinker & smoker) & they asked me questions to see if I was addicted to drinking. I passed. I'm not addicted, my social life involves drinking. But I'm fine now since I basically stopped hanging out. I wish your friend saw a psychologist about her depression after surgery. It can be mentally draining with the pain & healing. I'm on anti-depressants so I'm coping well, but I could see why it gets depressing after surgery. Surgery 2/28.... First two week Key pointers?!
CocoNina replied to Glitterisalwaysappropriate's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm exactly 2-weeks post op. The first three days for me were hell. I underestimated how much pain I'd be in. I usually take pain pretty well, but not this. I slept mostly those 3 days. On the 5th day, I wanted to get out of the house & get some air. I felt better walking. The biggest incision (left side) takes a long time to heal. I could not sit down for a long period of time. On Day 13 (yesterday) I felt my best so far. My left side is not as painful, I'm back at going to school but I over did it walking around with a backpack (1 binder and 1 text book) so today (day 14) I feel sore again. These are my real life experiences. It's worth it to me, I've lost a little over 20 lbs since pre-op diet. Have all your liquids & protein ready at home. Take your multivitamins & calcium so you don't get malnourished. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: - 71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). I miss drinking alcohol and I'm 2 weeks post op. The only risk I heard (because I'm planning on drinking in May when I go on vacation which is 3 months from now) is alcohol too early might mess up any medication you're on (I'm on medication for 6 months to prevent gull stones & ulcers) & it will make you more hungry like you'll eat beyond the 4oz you're supposed to eat with our small stomach. So, I only have the answer for you with # 2. Not sure if it causes leaks. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: - 71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Add benefiber to your drinks/meals. You need fiber so you won't be constipated because a lot of protein does that. And miralax works great too, it's a stool softener. Exercise : 1 month post op

Pre op diet headache and tired

@jfcajr glad my honest response was helpful. It is not easy but I feel great even just losing these first 20 lbs, I look better. Can't wait to lose more. Think of the long term reward. Pre op diet headache and tired
CocoNina replied to jfcajr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm finally 10 days post-op. The hardest part of this whole journey (besides of course surgery pain the first few days) was definitely the 14-days liquid only diet. The first 3 days & the last 3 days were terrible. I was cranky, tired, unfocused, dizzy, jealous of others eating real food, etc. What helped me out during those days was my nurse said I can eat non-starchy vegetables during the 14-day pre-op liquid diet since vegetables have water in them & it gives me fiber so I won't be constipated. If it weren't for salads (with barely any dressing or fat free, low carb dressing) I probably wouldn't have made it. The premier protein shake is good too since it's thick & gave me that full feeling. Hang in there, if I can do it anyone can. After surgery, I don't have cravings anymore. I miss food but I get so full with a sip of water now. I can't imagine eating. And I lost 20 lbs since the pre-op & post-op. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. I'm planning on going to an all-inclusive resort in May. I told myself I'll look for protein options & skip alcohol (I'll miss the alcohol). I cannot decide if I should do this or not
CocoNina replied to BeachMommy2Girls's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 10 days post op. I'll be honest, I didn't expect the pain to be this painful. It gets better everyday but emotionally, I'm sick of being weak from the surgery. It's a huge & life changing decision only you can decide for yourself. Even though I'm sort of emotionally drained, I've already lost 20 lbs since the liquid pre-op diet. I could never lose even that much weight before. If I could, I wouldn't have gotten the surgery. But in your condition, this will be a positive result for you since you need to lose weight. Ask yourself can you do it on your own by sticking to a strict diet or am I willing to go to the extreme with surgery? Complications are low according to statistics I've read. My hospital has 0 fatalities with weight loss surgery. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: - 71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). I pass gas & have bowel movement. I'm a week & a half post op. It gets better with time but periodically, I get that sharp pain in my incision area & I still ca not sit long periods of time. I feel comfortable & fine standing & walking. Just follow the instructions on your pain meds. Mine were take 4-6 hours a part. If you think you're having an addiction call the psychologist the hospital might of had you talk to pre-op. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Hi, So I'm a week post-op now. I'm still sore on my left side because the big incision hurts like hell. But I'm fine, I felt better after day 5, post op. I basically slept all day post-op days 1-3. Slept like a cat post-op Davy's 4 & 5, meaning I slept light & woke up from any noise. Day 6 & today, I can not sleep!! Last night I went to bed after 1AM, woke up at 3:30 AM to pee, & woke up & stayed awake at 6:30AM. So, that's 4 hours of sleep total. I thought I'd be tired tonight so I did not take a nap today. Right now it's 1:30AM & I've been up since 6:30AM with only four hours of sleep!! I'm still on pain medication & it used to put me to sleep. It doesn't do it anymore. I'm wide awake. I also walked for 45 minutes outside to try to get my body fatigued. It didn't work. Has anyone else had post-op insomnia? Is this normal? Why? Because this wasn't one of the side affects I've heard about. I mostly read people have no energy for weeks after surgery. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Thanks for all your input. My nurse said it's normal. She doesn't want me to take sleeping pills because it's too risky to over dose. I can't wait to get back to normal soon. Feb 2017 sleevers - how's everyone doing post-op?
CocoNina replied to biginjapan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6-days post op. The first 2 days were hell for me. I didn't expect the pain to be so bad. I felt my best yesterday, 5-days post op. I finally walked more than 30 minutes outside. It was refreshing. Had my first bowel movement 5-days post op, & released a lot of gas. So, today I feel good too. It gets better everyday. The only thing that painful is my big incision in the left side. There are times where it stings. It's not infected, it's just a big cut they took my stomach out of. Yesterday I started to gulp water which is not good. I regret it after I gulp. It's just a habit of mine to down water so much before surgery. It's still hard to get the exact amounts of protein & liquids but it gets better everyday because I'm consuming a better amount everyday. I lost the taste for the Unjury powder. I shouldn't have bought so much. Premier is still my choice pre & post op. Height 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: - 71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). I'm 4 days post opp. Went home the 2nd day & took gasalax. When I started passing gas I felt a lot better. Walking alone didn't help, I needed something to help me pass gas.
