Would you do it again or choose another option?
monymo replied to BPM's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi, I would still be banded. It has been a great tool for me. It has finally shut my appetite down to a manageable level. I have finally been able to maintain my weight loss. It is great. Mona -
How many of us have NOT had major problems with the band?

Hi, I had a band slip a year and a half after surgery. I had surgery to reposition it and was back to work in a week. I have had no problems since and I am over 4 years out. I have no regrets having the band done. Hope this helps. Mona:biggrin1: -
Experienced Bandsters, what are your tricks of the trade?
monymo replied to ChicagoCoco's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I am a bandster of over 4 years. I continue to eat healthy and exercise. I also keep track of my weight on a weekly basis. I see my surgeon yearly or as he directs. I cheat every once in a while but I get right back on track and only eat a bite of the offending food. I wish you the best of luck in your journey. Mona:biggrin1: -
There are several bariatric surgeons in the Omaha and Lincoln area that may be able to accomodate you. Otherwise you might have to go to Kansas City to get your fills. Hope this helps. Mona

Hi, I had a slipped band a year and a half after my surgery. At first it hurt to eat so I backed off to liquids. Then it hurt to drink. I got in touch with my surgeon and he took the fluid out. It helped for a while. It got to the point I couldn't even swallow my spit. I had to have surgery the following morning. Once the slip was fixed, my pain was gone. I felt great. I was back to work in a week. I haven't had a problem since. I am also listening to my body closer to recognize fullness. Hope this helps. Mona:)

Hi, you could ask the staff at the surgeons office for support group information. Also the hospital would have that information. Also the magazines from obesityhelp and wlslifestyles list all certified support groups. Hope this helps. Mona:)

Hi Michelle, I am also an old bandster. Sounds like you had problems before they found your leak. You might need some more fluid taken out so you can eat healthy. I wish you the best of luck. Let us know how you are doing. Mona

Hi, I have maintained my weight loss for 2 years and I just recently got a very small fill because I felt like I was eating too much. Otherwise it has been a year since I have had a fill. Unfortunately I didn't lose too much weight. I still work at staying on track. Hope this helps. Mona

Hi, Every plastic surgeon has their own requirements. I saw my plastic surgeon when I was 20 pounds above my goal. Basically they want to see you at a stable weight. I was able to finish my weight loss once I had plastic surgery. Good luck. Mona

Hi, I used to be a major yo-yo dieter before the lap band. Since I have had surgery I have lost all of my excess weight and have kept it off for 2 years. I wish I had done it earlier. Good luck in your journey. Mona

Hi everyone, I am new to this group. I had my lap band done this month 4 years ago. I have lost 110 pounds and have maintained my loss for almost 2 years. I am here to help anyone with their journey as well as learn from others new skills to stay on track. Monymo
