autumnb80 replied to Mariassleevejourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
June 21st here!!! Sooo flippin excited -
I attended the information seminar in November of 2016. My insurance required 3 months physician supervised weight loss which I started in December. I had my assessment, visit with the dietician and therapist March 28th and met with my surgeon April 10th. The only testing he is requiring is an endoscopy and some blood work. I already did the blood work and the scope is scheduled for this Monday. Then it is off to insurance for approval!

I finally got my first appointment with my surgeon! After completing the 3 months supervised diet with my PCP and turning in my packet, I got a call to set up my first appointment for next week! I cannot tell you all how relieved and excited I am. I am a little nervous but its going to be so worth it. This has been a 10+ year journey for me.

Met with the surgeon yesterday and the only testing he is going to require is a thyroid test and an endoscopy. I will have both of those completed in two weeks and then its time to submit paperwork to the insurance company. Yay!!!

I had an appointment with the dietician, therapist and nurse yesterday and I have my appointment scheduled with the surgeon on April 10. I was told that I will have to do some sort of breath test with my PCP, have a chest x-ray but I was wondering what else. I did my physician supervised weight management program and got his approval so now its up to the surgeon with what else I need to do. I am the type of person who wants get things done as quickly as possible and obsess until I have everything checked off the list. So now its just waiting until April 10...

How many appointments did you have as far as nutritionists, meeting with the surgeon, etc?

I have been considering gastric bypass for the past 10+ years and am finally in the position to make it happen! I am hoping 2017 is my year of change! I attended a seminar for Norton Bariatric in Louisville in November and started the weight management program that is required by Cigna in December. I am required to go a minimum of three consecutive months (>89 days) so I am hoping to have them under my belt by February. When I called the surgeon's office to inquire about making an appointment, they wouldn't even schedule one until my physician's visits are complete and they have received my information packet. I was hoping to have some of the other requirements completed so I could get into surgery quicker. So a little about me... I am 36, female and currently reside in Louisville. I am 5'9 and currently weigh 267 lbs. My goal after surgery is to be around 165 lbs and free of taking any medications. Anywho, thanks for reading and I wish everyone the best!
