    Disgusted

While completely cutting out foods might work for you and others, it's not a one stop fix. For myself, as well as others, I don't have an issue with a particular food; it's always been about eating too much in general. So, I feel okay in eating some foods that others would say "no way!" to, it doesn't mean I'm not going to be successful in losing weight, just that I'm on a different road than you are.

    Disgusted

If you want to leave a group because of those questions, that is your decision, but I don't think it's entirely fair to label the people asking those questions as what you described. How do you know they are addicts by asking those questions? The key to losing weight has always been calories in verses calories out. If someone budgets their day to where they can have a couple spoonfuls of ice cream, who cares? I eat pizza, ice cream, and fast food and still have lost 70+ lbs, but the key is fitting that in with my calories for the day and not making it a habit. Does this mean I'm lazy and self-indulgent? I don't think so. I've worked my ass off to get to this point so I'll be darned if I'm not going to enjoy a bite of pizza or a scoop of my husband's ice cream. What really makes me mad are the people out there that are always on their high horses, looking down at the rest of us for eating something they would "have never thought of at that stage". Every person's journey is different, and while I definitely understand that being successful takes dedication and not giving in to every desire, implying that anyone who has ever indulged is lazy and the like is just wrong.
  4. I've always had nasty, irregular, heavy, and long periods. I started, I think, 2 or 3 days after surgery and it was non-stop heavy until just before Valentine's day. It started up again on the 15th and lasted until just yesterday, heavy and non-stop. I thought maybe I could get a break, but nope. I started again today! I am seriously at my wits end. My husband and I don't have sex because of it and he's on HRT to become a woman, so the meds make his genitals not work. I'm not getting to enjoy the last months of his junk working, and now I am crying about it.

    GUMMY VITAMINS

There are gummy multivitamins out there. I couldn't stomach the vitamin powder, sublingual, or chewables so I asked my surgeon if the patches and gummy vitamins would be okay, he said to try them out and we'll see if my levels are good when I get a vitamin panel. They were just fine except for vitamin D which I now take a pill for. Ask your surgeon first if he's okay with it.
  6. Since I could eat regular foods (almost 2 months ago) I have gotten into the bad habit of only eating 1 meal a day on average. I don't eat breakfast because I drive an hour to work and eating in the car makes me nauseous, plus I don't wake up early enough to have a sit-down meal. I very rarely eat lunch at work due to being very busy, only eating when my co-worker forces me to go to lunch with the guys. So at night I'll have 1 meal and sometimes a snack before bed. When I got my vitamin panel back I was 0.1 below the normal protein range. Everything else but vitamin D was good. I know I need to get out of this habit, especially when hunger comes back into play, but I am not sure how to start again. I am slightly worried that just jumping right in to eating more will make me nauseous.
  7. I had surgery on 12/21/16. My starting weight was 298 and I am currently 235, 63 lbs down. I believe I am starting a stall now, as I've been 235 the last week, but I feel great! I rode a bike for the first time in 3 years and I've started playing (extreme) tennis.
  8. I had to pay $2,000 beforehand and I have received several bills summing to around $750 more. I saved up in an HSA so the 2K wasn't bad, but that wiped the savings and I have nothing left for the remaining bills now.
  9. Stats real quick: SW - 298 CW - 246 I had surgery 12/21/16 and have lost 52 lbs thus far. One would think losing that much weight would drastically affect your clothing options, however I am finding that I still don't fit in size 17 jeans when I was a size 18 in silvers. I'm packed in tight and cannot sit down. I can still fit comfortably in my "fat" jeans, though it's looser for sure. I'm not too worried about this because I know that I'll lose more, but it seems my thighs aren't losing the weight at all. Has anyone else had this kind of thing happen?
  10. If you don't like swallowing pills or chewing chalky vitamins, I highly suggest buying patches. If you get them through the store you can subscribe monthly and get a discount. I have mine set up to be delivered monthly.
  11. I had VSG on 12/21 and I'm down 47 lbs.

    Vitamin patches!

I am wearing patches and sometimes also take flinstone vitamins on top of that. I haven't had my vitamin panel yet so I dunno if it works yet, but I like them a lot.
  13. I gotta admit, that show is motivating. I don't ever want to have their troubles.
  14. I was the exact same. I drank OJ mixed with water just to get fluids in. I did this until I could drink water again. One thing that you may want to try is freezing water and then drinking it as it melts. That is how I drink water now, anything else makes me nauseous.
  15. I'm not addicted to food per say, but just being told "no" makes me mad. If I want pizza, I will have pizza; however, I make it fit into my calories. Last night I used a 4g carb tortilla with low-carb sauce and 2 oz of shredded cheese (not packaged as shredded since it has more carbs than the blocks). I took 3 bites before I was done with the bread and just ate the toppings. Denying myself what I want is how I started secretly binging. Now, there are some things I will not give in to, like pop or sweets. In the end, it's up to me to take responsibility for what I eat and to make sure I am getting the nutrients I need while also making sure I don't feel too restrictive. I am able to eat these things because I do not allow myself to graze, thus freeing up calories. It's all a balancing act.

    Vitamins & Supplements

Did you notice any loose teeth? They say calcium is vital for bone density and gum health, and I didn't see any calcium in your post unless it's added elsewhere.
  17. Thank you for this. I've been having bad dizzy spells the last week.

    Anyone anxious about new food?

Hi Jill! When were you able to introduced salads? What do you put in it and any dressing? Ty Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App Not OP, but I tried a very small salad last night. I had 3 bites of iceberg lettuce with ranch and chewed extremely well. I had no problems with it. I was sleeved 12/21.

    I hate protein shakes

I get all of my protein through food, mostly poultry and cheeses. I will be starting a protein bar soon, just looking for the right one. I like the Special K vanilla strawberry ones, but it might be too hard on my stomach.
  20. I had fruit punch Juicy juice with Water 2 days after surgery. It went straight through. That's the only thing I've dumped so far, and I've been straight up avoiding anything with a lot of sugars except for the occasional OJ. I haven't had any sweets since 12/15, so I don't know if I will dump on those or not, but I don't want to find out!

    How Dod Your Marriage Improve?

I'm not a vet by any means, I'm only about 1.5 months out, but my marriage has already improved dramatically. I am going to a concert, my first since HS, and am actually excited instead of being nervous that I won't fit in chairs! I have also exercised with my love instead of skipping out. Sex life is non-existent b/c Mother Nature has deemed me worthy for a 2 month flow, but that wasn't so much a problem as just uncomfortable at my highest weight. I've been putting off our honeymoon or any vacationing until I was the "right size" and finally we are going in September! He's prouder than ever at how much I have lost so far and is even supportive if I decide to have some body work done. For a guy who was 100% against the surgery, he's come a long way on this journey with me.

9 Months and the Game is Changing

I work in an extremely quiet office and I am also very self-conscious, so if I ever brought food in to eat before or after lunch, where people would hear me opening packages, I always think that they will think: "Of course she's eating again so soon after lunch". That has stopped any grazing at work. So, probably not a good idea, but I have 1 meal between the time I wake at 7 am until I get home around 5:30. When I get home I will eat 2 times before bed unless my meal is a dense Protein like chicken or turkey, then it's just one meal. I am working on fixing this though. Can't get enough protein if I only eat 2 meals a day!

    Anyone anxious about new food?

Don't be scared of trying new foods. You'll find what works and what doesn't, and as long as you chew a lot and eat slowly your stomach should be okay.

First time skipping a period in my life!

If anything, I've noticed a huge increase. I started my period on 12/26, 5 days after surgery, and it hasn't stopped since.

How will I know I'm advancing too quickly?

Yes!!! My jaw sometimes hurts with all the chewing I'm doing hahaha!! How will you know something doesn't sit well? Like, nausea or something? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App For me it's pain in my chest, that's when I know something doesn't agree with me. I've had it happen when I tried one of my husband's french fries (seriously bad idea).
