Had my procedure 2/6/17
-
The positive thing about ALL of you is you are on here, reaching out, and desire results. I had my surgery on 2.6.17 after complications from a failed lapband done in 2009. My weight was at 232 when I saw doc for the first time and 218 pre-op. I am at 178 right now toward a goal of 165. I, like some of you, have other physical issues that cause chronic pain. I have learned this is not a sprint but a Marathon. Every day I wake up thankful for a new day to reset the way I eat, move and live. First pic is me two weeks ago. Second is me 15 months ago in black and white dress. You've got this.

I am down 40 lbs since surgery date of Feb 6 and am freezing all of the time. Is this some sort of vitamin deficiency?

Thank you! My appointment for all of my labs is in a few weeks. It was 87 today and I had sweatpants, at shirt and sweat jacket in and still freezing!

Overall I feel good. Continuing to lose slowly and steadily. I am never hungry but fighting lifelong eating habits borne from stress or boredom. When I get the urge to go looking for something in shouldn't I go outside and pull a DEE weeds, or talk a walk or just call a friend or colleague to say hey. The urge passes. How about you? -
I am in a similar boat. Post Op 7 weeks. My Doc and nutritionist wanted me to eat to heal first before they would roll out the true post op eating plan. Pre-op I was at 232. Last Monday I weighed in at 196.6. My Doc thinks 165 is optimal for My height. That means I have 31.6 lbs to go. I hope to lose it slowly because I want to keep it off. I only weigh myself once a week and if I lose one pound a week I will be thrilled. That would mean that in 32 weeks I would be at my ideal weight. I haven't announced to the world that I am doing this so the More gradual loss will look more natural than a ton of weight all at once. Keep doing what you are doing and don't let other people define what success looks like for you!

Any recommendations on comfortable compression garments? Need for waist down...

Thank you.

I just mean that there is a constant thought process of how do I get enough nutrition.

I had my surgery on Feb 6th. Other than Serious nausea no complications. I had my surgery with a specialist in Arlington, TX. He didn't see me at my two week check in/follow up. Instead I got the PA or Nurse Practitioner (not sure) who is fairly negative. I had the band to sleeve revision and he feels the need to tell me that most B to S patients don't do as well as other patients. I have been following the guidelines for diet and vitamins but am having trouble getting to 64 grams of protein w/o drinking protein shakes. Weight is dropping (at 197 from 232 pre surgery) but I am tired, cranky and way too weepy for my own good. I am walking daily and have been doing some fairly strenuous yard work. Is it because of lack of protein and nutrients? I have my 6 week appointment on Monday. What should I expect at that visit? If he gives the talk again I may slap him (jk). Seriously I need my surgeon's team to be MY team in my success but even though I am losing (35 lbs in 6 weeks) I am dreading the appointment. My husband is trying to be supportive but I haven't told outsiders about the revision so I don't have a "team".

I will try that until i don't need to anymore.

I think it is based on people who got the band and didn't lose so they switched to sleeve. My band did work until it slipped And caused major damage to my stomach and esophagus. I appreciate your encouraging words. Don't you sometimes feel that you think about food More now than before?

My surgeon or his team has never once asked me what my goal is... -
I am 4 weeks out now. 26 lbs gone. I had the revision because I was not able to keep food down with band and after some investigation found I had a hernia, damage to my esophagus and erosion from the band. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am so sorry to read that you are regretting your decision. I am 4 Weeks post op today. I have been WAY more emotional since my surgery, and have faced some of the same challenges as are listed in this thread. I am focusing on what I CAN eat and not on what I cannot eat. Making good choices And closing my eyes and savoring every bite that I can swallow. Food has always been fun for me. I love to cook and entertain and I refuse to lose that part of my life. I have done tons of research on cooking differently and am looking forward to the long term vs focusing on the negatives of the short term. I realize I am a bit older Than you are, so perhaps my outlook is framed differently. My biggest concern long term is how to get the nutrients that will fuel my energy. I just ordered the vitamin patches and look forward to trying them. Chewing vitamins grosses me out! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I purchased several flavors of Nectar on Amazon. My favorite is the grapefruit which tastes like ruby red. 23 grams of protein in 8 oz Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I took pj's and slippers with me. Ended up being so nauseous that I could have cared less what I was wearing. Nurses gave me a very large gown to wear backwards when walking the halls and I wore my new pj's and slippers home from the hospital Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I experienced the same pain and described it as the feeling you got as a kid when you ran hard and got winded and my parents called it a "stitch in your side". On my 2 Week followup I asked About it. Doc said that they stitched my new tummy to a muscle and what I was feeling was the tug on the muscle, not my stomach. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
