Can I lie - hernia op?

Exactly, because of the health law of non disclosure you don't have to say. Going in to my principal now. If she asks why I'll say personal. ????sonkat5355????

    I cheated

I star liquids on the 17 of Jan. I know it will be the hardest part of the journey since I still have a normal size stomach. I will try to go to sleep early to ignore hunger pangs. ????sonkat5355????

    No psych eval?

I did a $50 insurance Co pay one ....online questionnaire and then they called me and talked one hour. NP! I am self pay as well. I did spend I think $150, or $250 (have to check that) for a nutritionist for the year. Only met once but I will be meeting again. I can call and text questions or for support. I think having a nutritionist is better than the psych evaluation. Maybe for young adults, or someone not so sure. I do have anxiety but that's normal for any surgery or life change.???? ????sonkat5355????

    January and February 2017 sleevers!

January 31, 2017. Prepared by doing all pre op, buying shakes, Soups, pudding, Jello researching, this site, bought treadmill and trying to do 15 min + every day or other day. Fit bit to track activity. Just anxious to get it done because as I wait I worry. Lol ????sonkat5355????

    Post-op, Time off work

Hello, my surgery is Jan.31. My surgeon said he wouldn't even give a construction worker 6 weeks but I am almost 62, an art teacher pushing a heavy cart to 22 classrooms a week, having to lift the cart over thresholds, cart gets caught on concrete irregularities. It's dumped over before. He wrote a letter for 6 weeks. However my internist, cardiologist had to approve my surgery told me he will give what I feel I need. Perhaps 6, 8 or ten weeks. I'm not going to hurt myself from a student running into me in the hall, or lifting and pushing the cart and with osteoarthritis . I will then go back for two months and retire. As you can tell I am at my career end. Also, I can't just eat or go to restroom on a schedule because of my hectic schedule. Some may think this is too much time but I am at a rough school so I feel I'm doing what is best for me. Love to know how much time others took. ????sonkat5355????

    Disappointed and Hiatal Hernia

It could be the amount of weight you are or something he saw with your stomach. I would ask him specifically why. I asked my Dr right before the endoscopy why didn't he want to do a bypass on me and he said he wouldn't only the sleeve. I have about 100 lbs to lose. Maybe a bit more if I'm lucky. ????sonkat5355????

    Disappointed and Hiatal Hernia

Hello, I had the endoscopy and no hernia, I'm scheduled for Jan 31. My doctor told me that if I had a hernia he would fix it as he does the sleeve. Good luck! ????sonkat5355????

    Psych evaluation early?

Yes, mine was simple. An online survey then an hour call from a psychologist or psychiatrist and a pleasant conversation. $50. The rest my insurance paid for. Also had to go to a nutritionist. ????sonkat5355????

    Full of questions:

Cigna contracted by Miami Dade school board will not pay at all not even the hospital stay. We have no other insurance choice. I will be paying $15 k for this surgery. Plus I needed an endoscopy which cost $750. Plus they are going (Cigna) to charge me another 30% adding $850. So $1600 added to the 15 k. I pray I have no complications because the insurance is being so tough. My internist/cardiologist wanted to make it medically necessary but Cigna told me they won't pay out. Only good side is I don't have to wait 6 months for approvals. Saw the psychiatrist, nutritionist, XRAY, blood work and I am in my drs office as I text waiting for approval and some heart tests. For those of you who did not have "food funerals":

Surgery is Jan 31! So eventually after the first 6 months or year you can eat normal food but just maybe 2 to 4 Oz? Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App

    Slow weight loss?

You are so right! I am having surgery Jan 31 so I am researching as much as I can. I was told at almost 62 I may not lose as quickly as a young person so I'm thinking @10 a month. I have stressed about the negatives like regain, or indigestion so I'm stopping reading all that. I will just follow directions to a T. Thks! Pre-surgery jitters

Your weight loss is great. I am 61 almost 62 and my Dr said it might be slower weight loss for me. I'm @ 275 lbs. May I ask your age? Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App
  21. Good question! I have told close friends, my kids, and just one person at work. I have to tell my principal I am going to be out for surgery but feel I don't have to say for what because of privacy laws. When too many people know you are under a microscope, checking in you, seeing if you succeed or fail much like regular dieting. I'm retiring in June so I don't have to explain except that I am dieting. I'm not going to act like I finally found the miracle diet. I will tell people I am close with and trust what I did when they see the results. I want positivity not negativity in my life. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App
