  1. Dr. Showers, My Bariatric in Denton/Ft. Worth....3 weeks out, lost about 35lbs since pre op, so 4 weeks. Great doctor and staff. Also im BCBS.
  2. I'm three weeks out and I have no regrets. The first few day were rough but I never had any regrets. Each day is a challenge, but no more than being on a diet without the WLS. I'm praying I don't have any complications, but at the same time I am thankful that soon I'll be off my two BP medicine. I'M thankful that my hip doesn't hurt anymore, I'm thankful that I finally sleep like a baby. I have so much to be thankful for. Just know each day is a challenge and you just have to embrace the good and bad.

    Starting Full Liquids

I would wait 30mins after or before eating yogurt. I didn't the other day and I noticed the difference. It's not solid food, but you can feel the difference. Going to puree food Tuesday.

  11. Make sure theres at least 2hrs between taking any Iron supplement and Calcium Citrate. The body can't absorb them at the same time.
  12. 2 weeks is a long time. Your gonna have to try and keep it interesting. Some Ideas - 1. sugar free popsicles, make your own with Crystal Light, I prefer Mango Pineapple Passion. 2. Find a really good soup you like and strain every bit of food out of it, will taste better. That broth will get old quickly. 3. A good Protein shake is Muscle Milk Pro Intense Vanilla, blended it with some ice, pure vanilla extract. Hope this help. This was the only way I could have made the pre op diet. Good luck
  13. Don't be ashamed. If a person is not in your corner, dismissed them and keep it moving! Do what's best for you, because whether you have the surgery or not there's going to be people judging everyday. Example. Say you don't have the surgery and continue to gain weight or not lose any weight. Somebody may walk by you one day and say to themselves "D@m girl you need that surgery". The point is, everyone judges, sometimes it's just human nature. You just can't let it affect the way you view someone. So go be the beautiful person you are. Typically 2 weeks to get approval. All insurance company must give an answer with that time frame or request more information within the 2 weeks. What helps is the preparation and thoroughness of the paperwork your surgeon's office sends in. You can call your insurance company and have them give you a checklist for approval.

    Protein Shakes

I've used the Roadside Lemonade flavor. It did not make me dizzy. Perhaps your body just getting adjusted, especially if you were like me who's first drink each morning was coffee and not a protein shake.
  17. I have BCBS Anthem, and I actually did my evaluation over the phone. It was through BariatricPsychEvaluations.com You can check with your provider to see if they are within your network and what the coverage would be. If you do it over the phone or in person, I believe the questions are relatively the same.
  18. Did u have the sleeve or bypass?

    Post opt newbie

You should consume 64oz per day, but a minimum of 48oz. I approach this challenge by sipping all day and night. Now that may not work for everyone but it's easier than trying to remember to drink every 15mins or so. Even if I wake up in the middle of the night I sip before falling back to asleep. Remember at this stage liquid also includes any broth, sugar free jello, popsicle, etc. My nurse at discharge, which had the surgery herself suggested this routine. I'm a week post op and im at an avg. Of 50oz a day. It's hard to reach 64oz everyday.

Great, any questions put it out there!
  22. Sleeved April 25th, since surgery lost about 19lbs. Beside getting smaller, I'm already sleeping better, and no hip pains. On the flip side, I'm cold all the time. Overall I'm enjoying the challenge & tranformation. [emoji16]
  23. Have you tried finding a good soup you like and straining it? Sprouts has a really good soup I love. Now I just strain it and give the filling to family or trash it. Just an idea.
  24. Oscar Meyer P3 is what I plan on using when I do return to work. You should Google it.
