    Avatar Help

I keep trying to upload an avatar to my profile, and it keeps saying "unable to save image." It's the proper size and everything (image below). What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
  2. Hi all! Sorry if this has been asked before, but if I do a search on "weigh" I'm sure everything will come up! Anyway, I was wondering: when you went to the surgeon/doctor for the first time (the weight they give to the insurance company), did they keep your clothes on? What about shoes? I'm not quite 225 yet (for my 40 BMI) and was wondering if the clothes can help me "gain" weight a bit. Thanks! PS. I will be seeing Dr. Bertha in Jersey. Any direct info on him would be great!
  3. Hi everyone! My name is Nicole, and I'm on the road to Lap Band surgery. I just went to a seminar yesterday in New Jersey with Dr. Abkin and Dr. Bertha. I'm going to my first appointment with Dr. Bertha on April 23. I have Oxford insurance, and they will cover it if you have a BMI on 40+. I'm so excited about this, but I do have my concerns, of course. :success1: I look forward to chatting with you all and sharing my experience.

    Which band?

MacMadame: Thanks for that informative post. I also went to the "easy band" site and see that it's not available in the US yet. So, you are right...no need for waiting for improvements or else you'll be waiting all your life.

    Which band?

I've only heard of the two you've mentioned also. I know there are others used in other countries. If you find more about the self adjusting one, I'd love to hear about it!
  7. Sounds good to me!!!
  8. I think that's all my docs require too.

    self pay question

I'm not a self-pay, but judging from my experience with loans and credit cards, I'd say it all depends on the APR and how many months you spread it out. Did you try Capital One loans? They have healthcare financing. I've used Capital One loans before (not for healthcare) and they are very reasonable. Good luck! 10. You know how if you go to your gyno or pcp they take subtract about 5lbs or so for clothes? They don't do that, do they?
  11. Thanks everyone! I'm just so nervous that the weights will fall off or the roll of quarters will break, and I'll look like an idiot!:laugh: Ahh, I'll just tell him I came back from Atlantic City...which actually won't be a lie!!!!!
  12. I heard that a lot don't fill the band because your stomach is swollen and needs to heal.
  13. Thank you for all your advice. I especially like the flapping arms part. I will remember that if/when I get banded!

    newbie

I have the same insurance, but I haven't dealt with them yet. I heard that if you're doctor recommends it and you meet Oxford's requirements, they approve you quickly. I hope that's right!
  17. I hope you feel better soon! One of my concerns is wanting it out after I get it.

Bertha / Abkin in Morristown NJ

Hiya! I'm a newbie. I was searching for Abkin and Bertha when I can across your thread. I'm thinking of the Lap Band. I have Oxford and they will cover it. I have to have a BMI of 40. Now, get this...I'm 5"2.5/5"3 and I'm about 220. I'm almost there! LOL Would it sound ridiculous of me to want to gain a few pounds to reach a BMI of 40? Also, do you know if I have to see a gastroenterologist or my primary care physician to get weighed and such? Thanks!
