Can you put the User CP/My Account back up top again? I can't find it if I'm on forum homepage. -
Medic Alert Bracelet
BabyNicole replied to detroitdame75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm an emt and I dont think it matters what wrist its on. I can say that when we retake pulses in the ambulance it is on the left wrist because of the way u are lying on the stretcher. I personally wouldn't wear it on an ankle but that's just me. -

I will tell my surgeon when I see him and ask their insurance person how BCBS works here in Jersey. Wish me luck! -

No, I haven't been approved yet, but with Oxford if you have a BMI of 40+ no medical direction is required. So I have no doubt I will be approved. That would stink, though if BCBS didn't offer fills! -

Thank you for that. If/When I get banded, I believe my surgeon uses the Realize band. :biggrin2: -

What AGB Book(s) Do You Recommend?
BabyNicole posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just bought Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band-everything you need to know before and after surgery to lose weight successfully, by Robert Sewell and Linda Rohrbough. It's the only one they had at Borders. I'm only on page 55 and so far it's a lot of medical talk regarding all bariatric procedures in general, but the rest focuses on just the band (I think). I'll let you know a review when I'm done. :puke: If anyone has read any of the books mentioned, or any others, please give me your opinions. I'd like to read as much as I can about the AGB to be totally prepared. I'd love to know why you wouldn't recommend some too! Thanks! -
I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Make sure she eats right as to not get any flare ups. I know this is a rough time, but hang in there.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but I do not believe that is allowed on eBay. I reported the listing. If they allow it, then I guess it's "okay."
-
Hey! I saw your YouTube video before I even knew you were a member. Look look GREAT! :crying:
-
Welcome! I'm not banded yet, but I'll tell you my reasons for wanting the band as opposed to RNY: 1. slower healing time 2. not cutting and rerouting my insides 3. restriction can be adjusted 4. IF there's a big problem, I can have it removed 5. you lose weight slower, so it's healthier
-
I'm sorry you are going through this. :frown: I'm actually surprised they banned you if they knew you were a heavy drinker.

Thanks everyone for the info on the MGB. I've seen this on YouTube also, and wondered why there was only one surgeon speaking about it. I was thinking should I be doing that instead of the band? Well, I just read the post "NO reputable surgeon will do the MGB." That really hit home! I'm always saying something similar regarding puppies, "NO reputable breeder will sell their puppies to a pet store." Thanks again. I'm not worried that my decision is wrong.

Totally freaked out now!!!
BabyNicole replied to sylhaven's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not banded yet, but I have a comment. I've seen this Dr.'s videos on YouTube. It seems like he is the ONLY one who speaks about LapBand removal and mini bypass (on YouTube anyway). Now, I read in my book that not very many surgeons are doing the mini bypass b/c it's not "proven" yet. -
Stupid people and their stupid opinions
BabyNicole replied to spoodles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya. My friend George was giving me a hard time and I said in a very polite tone of voice, "Hey, thanks a lot for being a good friend and supporting me in my decision." He kinda looked shocked I said that. He then said, "Well, then, if you think it's good for your body, then do it." He said it in a supportive way (not sarcastic)...so I guess he got the hint! My true feelings about surgery and...if people make you feel upset by what they say, you may be having second thoughts subconsciously and/or second guessing your choice. If you can "shut them up" (nicely or not) then you are strong in your AGB decision. But, that's MY opinion. :Dancing_wub: -
I saw my gastroenterologist today. I told him about the AGB and asked him for a letter to back up my decision. He gave me one written on a piece of prescription paper. I also spoke to him about my GERD and the likelihood of a hiatal hernia (I don't have one that I know of). I don't have any abdominal pain, but I figured before I got the AGB I'd be proactive and make sure everything was okay in there first! So it's scheduled for May 16th! I didn't want to get banded until June or July anyway, so May is perfect! Anyone get an endoscopy before getting banded?
-
I've decided to get an endoscopy
BabyNicole replied to BabyNicole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I'm not sure if my surgeon will require it; but when I go to my visit in a few weeks I will tell him about. I also want him to see that I am serious about the surgery and my body. -
Welcome! Congrats on your surgery date! Hey, I'm jealous. I wish I lived in Nevada! :tt1:
