Usually the kids menus are things we can't eat like chicken fingers and Mac and cheese. Sometimes I'll order an appetizer or a side. Other times I order an entree and save part. I have a sushi place with a sashimi appetizer that's a go to. The other day I had dinner with a lap band friend. We shared a plate of pulled chicken with a side of cottage cheese. I had In & Out protein style 2 weeks ago. Icouldn't finish it but ir was a nice change. I try and stay away from places where I have no ootions.

Congrats and good luck on the rest of your journey

Mashed potatoes were forbidden on my plan. Lots of veg works if you cook it to death. But not potatoes or corn.

My PCP has been involved and supportive. I worked with a nut pre op to break bad habits and know what to expect. Be careful with that. Make sure to pick one who works with bariatric surgical patients. Lots of misinformed badly educated nutritionists out there. Going to Mex for surgery (and dental, prescriptions, etc) is very common here in AZ. Get all your program/surgeon info so your dr. Has it and tell him you need his support.

Chipotle is life~
AZLoser replied to Iwanttofitinmyweddingdress's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't be tempted to try eating solids yet. But when you can eat mushy food you can eat beans with a little sprinkle of cheese and some salsa. At home. Not pico because nothing raw. No raw veg so nothing at Chipotle yet. Hang in there- it gets better. -
How important is hand stitching after the staples are done?
AZLoser replied to GotProlactinoma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I researched a lot before I had mine done and never heard this. The important thing is to find a surgeon who specializes only in bariatrics and has done hundreds of operations at a minimum. Leaking is not common esp. If you follow the post op instructions and your stomach heals in a few weeks. -
I totally get that. I wish I had done the same but it's too late for me.

It depends on where you are in the process. My program says very limited fruit due to the sugar content. Even before VSG I knew not to eat much fruit. Your body metabolizes fruit sugar the exact same way as cane sugar or any other carb. Complex carbs will fill you up more and have other nutrients but the end result is the same. Some people can handle that ok. If you're diabetic or have metabolic resistance, you need to be careful. Stick to berries or an apple if you really need a fruit fix.

Newbie Advice! Plz Share Your Advice!
AZLoser replied to junesleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The #1 thing I did that helped was to give up caffeine and carbonation before surgery. I used to live on Diet Coke so it would have been way hard to do it at surgery time. I'm almost 6 months post and I still haven't had any carbonation. I have a hard time getting in my water so my nut suggested decaf iced tea. I brew my own and it really helps. Also your tastes may change after staying on plan. Mine did. So don't stock up on anything yet. I bought extra Crystal Light and protein shakes and now I won't drink either. -
I've told my family but only a handful of friends. I regret telling two friends. One of them tells everyone she sees that I had it done and we know a lot of the same people. She even said 'have you ever just tried dieting?' I almost burst out laughing. If you tell people, be prepared to be interrogated. Now half of my world knows so I just tell everyone. It requires a lot of educational discussions due to the ignorance on the subject.

April 2017 sleevers how's it going?
AZLoser replied to Sparklequeen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there! I'm in north Phoenix and just thought I'd say hi since you're in AZ too. I was sleeved at the end of Dec. I also am struggling to get in all my water but am working on it before the super hot weather hits. I tried to add pistachios for some crunch but ended up eating the whole bag over the course of 2 days so clearly I don't have enough self control for that! Good luck on your journey and drop me a line anytime. -
Ideas on Getting Free from This Slump?
AZLoser replied to Night's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with the no supplements. No need for it at this point. I don't know what you mean by a mini sandwich but you shouldn't eat bread at this point. And my program says no soy milk. Overall it sounds like your weight is on track. You probably just need to tweak. I was also sleeved in Dec. and I am not supposed to be at that many calories yet. The food you listed doesn't add up to 1100 calories. Are you adding something else? Also remember as you lose, you need to eat even less to burn at the same rate. Frustrating for sure! -
Is this normal?
AZLoser replied to Iwanttofitinmyweddingdress's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Me too. Then about 4 weeks after surgery the constipation set in. That was worse I think. It will fix itself and you'll forget all about it once you're post op and losing. -
Good luck with your surgeries! I am almost 6 mos. post op and soo happy I did this. I had an easy recovery and I hope you do too.

Welcome and good luck. It will all be worth it.

This is good advice and true. There's a bigger difference in inches between plus sizes. I lost 45,lbs before I went down a full size. If I started at a size 18 that would have been 3 sizes down easily.

BigViffer I wish we (US) would go metric too. It would be so much easier. 2Liter, I also measure everything. On my digital kitchen scale. And I carry 2 oz containers in my purse to help me eyeball portions when eating away from home. I cut off what I'm going to eat and immediately box the rest so I don't sit and graze through my meal.

Meditations/antidepressants/anxiety meds
AZLoser replied to maggieO's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Didn't take mine day of surgery but hospital gave me same dosage next morning. I had to cut mine too the first two weeks. -
I had a reduction done several years ago. Pre surgery and pre weight gain. Mine were naturally huge. Having that surgery helped every aspect. It was easier to exercise, my back improved. It was a major operation for me but never got me as small as I wanted. Recovery was simple. Fast forward to now. When I get to goal I'll investigate having another one. I would say go for it if it's covered. Just find a great surgeon.

Such thing as cute "extra wide" sneakers?
AZLoser replied to Lovin2lose's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I also have double wide feet. I have had good luck with Sketchers in W. Cute styles and even bought two pairs of boots. 90% of wide shoe brands still don't fit me because I also have a very high arch but those are pretty comfortable. -
Worried -Surgery Monday march 13th
AZLoser replied to momto6kids's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had those same thoughts pre surgery. Once you do this you won't worry as much. I was sleeved end of December and so happy I chose to do it. Let us know how you're doing. The first couple of weeks are hard but just follow orders and know it gets easier. -
Hello everyone new to the group
AZLoser replied to MrBiggz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome! The time will go fast. It seemed like forever going through my 6 month of approval appointments but now I'm almost 9 weeks post sleeve and I feel great. You won't regret it! -
