What do you tell ppl at work?
dodlbug replied to silhouette's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I told them exactly what I was doing. I've been thinking about doing this for a decade. I'm not embarrassed by it. Everyone knows I'm fat. I've tried to lose weight before and gained it all back. I want something where it isn't going to happen again. Let them think what they're going to think. If you are comfortable with your decision you should be able to tell them the truth. New Here, called insurance and No requirements before hand?
dodlbug replied to hernandez776's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really depends on how strict or lenient your insurance is.I was OKed for the band procedure before I even started classes and probably would have been able to get it done right then and there. I waited, went through the hospital recommended steps, and landed up with the sleeve instead because my endoscopy showed gastroparesis. The band wouldn't have worked as well for me and I would have had issues. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
You are most welcome our fellow Iowan. When was your surgery? How are you doing? Mindi in Waterloo Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I had my surgery 12/22. After reading through some other posts I find myself extremely fortunate. I didn't experience any nausea other than when in the anesthesia induced stupor when they were moving me from one bed to the other between surgery and my room and no uncontrollable pain. I have taken very little pain meds since I've been home.I have found if I don't eat on schedule I'll dry heave, not a pleasant experience. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

They require a ten day to two week liqid pre-op so your liver shrinks enough to be pushed out of the way during surgery. I haven't heard of a surgeon who doesn't require that for arthroscopic surgery. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Michael Hovey. He did a fabulous job on my sleeve. Right mix of anti-nausea and pain meds. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App
