I'll ask my NUT but...

I second that you should get doctor approval for swimming.. Pack some stuff in a cooler too to keep yourself hydrated and fed. Take frequent breaks if you're doing any prolonged activity. -
If you're eating things that take longer to digest, it's certainly possible.

I'm well aware of how my advice comes off. If it triggers you like the others in this thread.. block. The more the merrier. -
Do you HAVE to follow a low carb diet?
PatientEleventyBillion replied to slimmingsteff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That and there are ambiguous definitions of keto diet.. the only important part is getting the body into ketosis. I find the differences of how to be subjective and irrelevant. -

Amen to that, now that you've announced you've blocked people (hint: it's irrelevant to the person you're announcing you're blocking, especially when they gave you the link to block them), maybe those of you who've not discussed the topic whatsoever (how ironic that this is the very same people ) might be able to contribute something worthwhile to the topic now. -

Do you HAVE to follow a low carb diet?
PatientEleventyBillion replied to slimmingsteff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So.. similar to a keto diet. When you're intake is less than a thousand calories a day, to attain that amount of protein means __________. The way the body burns off fat is through ketosis. Body produes ketones when deprived carbohydrates to tell the body to use other sources of energy, called gluconucleogenesis -- this is especially healthy in obese people. It's no surprise when people find themselves eating sliders like bread, rife with wheat at that, they retain water and find themselves stalling or retaining fluids as @her1981just emphasized as I was typing this up. The only reason during weight loss to up their caloric intake, and carbs, is if they're body building or doing significant exercise. For the vast majority of people on sites like this who are sedentary or low active, carb intake is proportionate to chances of failure. -

Skinny Bucket List
PatientEleventyBillion replied to EmScaDem's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally that feeling was more of a motivator for me. And of course the first and few times in my life I was actually called a "fat ass". Rather than take it personally (since I couldn't care less about their opinion), I looked at myself and saw exactly what they saw, I had just been avoiding taking a good look in the mirror due to depression. It brought back to the forefront that battling depression is life and death.. no amount of self-coddling or feeling sorry for myself would make it better. So anyhow, my bucket list isn't really any different from before the surgery.. the only thing that really changed for me was due to my increased weight I wasn't able to fit on rides at Cedar Point. It was a very embarrassing moment, and I fully plan to go back there and enjoy the fastest/biggest drop rides (Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, etc.) as I intended before. -
Why are post-op diets so different?!

The SF gatorade or the 40+g of sugar per serving gatorade? -
If it's God's will...
PatientEleventyBillion replied to kowgurl1988's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Let me lend you a hand: https://www.bariatricpal.com/ignore/ It's comedic that overly sensitive people would find that post bashing, when it's genuine advice about self-empowerment and making good choices rather than pushing that off on others to make. If that advice triggers you, seek help. I certainly am not going to change who I am because some snowflakes can't handle blunt advice that's not disrespectful whatsoever. And to the above, I'm not an atheist, but here's a trophy for your effort. -

Do you HAVE to follow a low carb diet?
PatientEleventyBillion replied to slimmingsteff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's how you find out.. It's like type 2 diabetic people finding out what foods spike their blood sugar the most by measuring it before the food and a while after. Sometimes only way to know is to find out. -
Anyone miss food?
PatientEleventyBillion replied to Sparklez's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not really.. in fact, due to the restriction, I actually hate bothering to eat, I just have to make myself. -
Surgery postponed for the right reason
PatientEleventyBillion replied to Seahawks Fan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People say permanent, but as far as the sleeve goes, in a few years it's grown back. It's not permanent like the RNY. The premise of the sleeve is to utilize what you've learned from your restrictive phase and apply lifestyle changes that you'll continue when your sleeve gives way and allows you to eat normal again. Where so many fail is they go back to bad habits when the sleeve restriction gives way. VSG should only be seen as a temporary tool to help with a permanent lifestyle change. -
Surgery postponed for the right reason
PatientEleventyBillion replied to Seahawks Fan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Indeed. For many of us the process of having the surgery done was an education into all the bad things we were doing. 2 weeks before my operation I had a meeting with the hospital's anesthesiologist crew and one guy was in awe of all the things I knew and my pre-op progress, and asked me why I'm doing this, as he thought I didn't need this procedure done. Thing is, like others, I've tried losing on my own before, and have.. what I needed to learn came through this journey. So, whatever it takes to learn how to live a healthy life, is what it takes. I wish you the best of luck. (Btw Google Voice is acting funky so like 80% of my texts arent sending) -
Surgery postponed for the right reason
PatientEleventyBillion replied to Seahawks Fan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whatever you do as long as its in your own best health interests and doesn't have any negative consequences. I will say though that food like meat isn't empty calories.. you're thinking of garbage carb slider foods that have no nutritional value. Protein is one of the most essential things your body and muscles need. The opposite of empty. -

3 weeks post op. Almost always have diarrhea
PatientEleventyBillion replied to e0marina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just make sure whatever you're consuming doesn't increase your regularity. For me I was just taking milk of magnesia as I was told.. stuff made me literally a hydrant every 2 hours was destroying the toilet, which my pissed off wife made me clean up. Also, it's just a hunch of mine, but I do think I might have developed some kind of lactose intolerance post-op. -
Second Opinion from another Doctor
PatientEleventyBillion replied to iHealthy's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think for us the real proof of success will be past the six month marker when we go off the PPI. I met with my surgeon yesterday for my first follow-up (second one will be at six months) and he said he intends to keep me off all PPIs after the six month prescription of Pantoloc (pantoprazole) to see how my body does. I think it's clear given no reflux issues with the PPI that it's all up to me and my diet henceforth. -

If it's God's will...
PatientEleventyBillion replied to kowgurl1988's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't rely on God.. rely on yourself. Do everything you can personally do to make your surgery safer. Make sure you're on a healthy liver shrinking pre-op diet low in carbs and high in protein, make sure your blood pressure and HR are under control.. make sure you've researched who the surgeon is, their post-op program, etc., and got feedback from others to elevate the chances of success. "God" won't do that for you. It's all up to you. -
