Ok I think I found out what it is.. I temporarily moved my hosts file. I think there's something in the page that the hosts file has been blocking. Might be from an ad site?

    Medicine Question

That's my hope as well.. The meds i've been taking: - Hydrochlorothiazide (25mg) once a day (water pill/bp) - Metoprolol (75mg - 3x 25mb tablets) 2x per day (day/night) (heart rate/bp) - Lansoprazole (30mg) once a day - Metformin (1000mg - 2x 500mg tablets) 2x per day (day/night) (fast-acting for elevated blood sugar) - Forxiga (10mg) once a day (fast-acting for elevated blood sugar) - Escitalopram (Cipralex) (10mg) once a day (night-time anxiety attacks associated with apnea) After talking to doctors/surgeons, I expect the following: - Immediately ceasing hydro/metoprolol. - Within a week or two ceasing metformin/forxiga - Slowly dosing off Cipralex (don't think they want anyone getting off meds like this cold turkey) - Possibly upping dosage of Lansoprazole if not adding/changing some type of related PPI medication How it pans out will be seen next month.

Yes sir, I tried with uBlock and ScriptSafe disabled.. same problem. I also just tried it on Firefox and Internet Exploder and both worked just fine. (Firefox with NotScripts and uBlock as well, yet still worked) Guess maybe a Chrome issue?

Ear infection or breathing through ear

Have you tried swapping your ear and your nose? Mr. Potato Head tells me it helps.

Yep, but the problem is this happens on my tablet (Android 5.0.1) and phone (Android 4.4.4), both Chrome, too. Also, I was temporarily logged into the forum as you somehow. My face got prettier for a few minutes.

Using Chrome Version 56.0.2924.87 (64-bit) Indeed the pagination issue is consistent. It's something that didn't happen until recently (last few weeks or so?). Also it's not just clicking on the specific page number that causes it, it's also the previous/next" page button, and the first/last page (double less-than/greater-than signs) that causes it too. Seems always when within a thread and left clicking to a different page of any kind. I can quickly remedy the situation by reloading the page just gets annoying hammering F5 every time I want to change a page though.

    April sleevers!?

I know, right? Getting excited. Nervous too. But far more excited. Right now just stocked up on SF Jello and string cheese for pre and post-op. Have a dietitian (RD) appointment Thursday so might see what good post-op foods she wants me to have. My finals were literally on the same day, and one day after my surgery. Thankfully uni had them moved to a week earlier for me. And there was much rejoicing.

    Trouble with Vitamins

Yep. The thing about citrate I find, at least in Canada (this is one of those situations where I miss the US), is it's very annoying to find in liquid or chewable form.. just how I personally prefer it. Also I prefer it for the flexibility of having it on an empty stomach because I take so many other vitamins and, moreover, medication, the latter of which I must have food with. To avoid interactions I space them out, especially Calcium/Vitamin D supplements from everything else. No doubt get as much info from your surgeon (and dietitian/nutritionist if you have one) as possible. More info can never hurt as long as it's not from one of those sites that pimp supplements and make stuff up that one cannot find any backup on when reading science journals.

I get both what the OP said and @orionburn, though not at the same time. Regarding the OP's claim, I'm using Chrome on Win10 Pro. Here's what happens. 1) I click on a thread, the thread page I go on loads fine 2) Within the thread I left click on a different page.. it loads all content except the posts, with a leftover "Loading..." icon at the bottom. Here is a screenshot: Only ways to avoid it for me: 1) Right clicking the page link and opening the page in a new tab. Loads fine. 2) Using F5/reload on the page when it's stuck on loading. Loads fine. 3) Throwing objects at the computer screen. ------ Regarding orion's post, I've got that Bad Gateway error "here and there" when browsing the forum, it will fail to load the site and will instead load a Cloudflare hosted backup. Generally after a matter of seconds it resolves when reloading or changing pages. Hope this was helpful.

    Trouble with Vitamins

I don't think there's a wrong calcium to take, just need to know how to best utilize it. For example, if you're taking carbonate and most other variants, always take it with food, both for best absorption and to avoid it making you feel sick by having it on an empty stomach. Citrate.. doesn't matter.

    Medicine Question

People's meds change regularly post-op for various reasons. I would indeed consult the surgeon and your family doctor, since we couldn't say how your meds might change.

RNY or Sleeve! What to do!

Age + comorbidities.. I can't see how you're not an RNY candidate. Those comorbidities will shorten your lifespan, and while VSG might address those, it might not do so aggressively enough. The risk is elevated with RNY but at your age the risk of something serious happening while carrying those diseases for any length of time (especially if worsening) is way higher.

    It's definitely a journey

Is it ever not a headache dealing with any insurance industry? Their goal is not to pay for your healthcare. Anyways, I wish you luck in dealing with them. Just make sure you have your ducks in a row.

    Good Bye...

I have no doubts your taste will change not even counting the possible changes to your taste buds other VSG'ers have mentioned post-op. It's a tough road but you can do it too. I hope your positive thoughts translate to success -- I'll be cheering for you.

    Good Bye...

Its weird, it was actually easy, although the headaches and such (caffeine/sugar withdrawal?) were a nuisance for a few days. I think psychologically I was just ready. But I was also downing 100oz sodas from 7-Eleven so that's probably why it surprised no one I wound up with diabetes and a messed up liver. The desire to live a better life far outweighed the desire for carbonated sugar water. I think most of all I'm hard on myself because it shouldn't have taken this long to learn.

Thank you.. although for me I'm amazed I gained all this weight. It's ridiculous. Nice to see a fellow Kraut.. Oana dea Doge geh i zrugg, um meine Familie zua seng. #miasanmia #BayerischenFürDasLieben

    Good Bye...

I was a big fan of the 7-Eleven Cokes with Cherry flavoring since Canada seems to have a thing against Cherry Coke. Was nice to occasionally mix with Captain Morgan as well. Since I stopped drinking any of the sodas for the last near 2 months (haven't had any liquor for almost 2 years ) they've actually started tasting like crap.

Any Out of Pocket cost for your surgery?

Say hi to Dr. Gill for me if he does your endoscopy in High River.

    Good Bye...

I've had type 2 as well.. I've just chosen other foods rather than the gross splenda/sucralose products.
  23. I've been using that pdf for a while now after coming across the page here months back: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/johns_hopkins_bayview/medical_services/specialty_care/bariatrics/nutrition_after_surgery.html It's why I bought specific multivitamins, all in chewables, and liquid calcium + BA calcium chewable tablets, and researched more on separating certain supplements over stretches of the day, as well as away from multivitamin/iron supplements. It's really good information for maximizing absorption.

    Feeling kind of betrayed

I don't know exactly what he knows but your two posts paint two different pictures of what you're telling him. Either way I go by the Latin philosophy of Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat (presumption of innocence, or in legalese, innocent until proven guilty) presume most SO's aren't going to deliberately try and be an asshole. But then again I also think people invest too much money and care into a random day that's clearly more about buying crap than loving your partner, so they set themselves up for failure with excessive expectations. As a guy who grew up around women (my dad died when I was young so I was raised by a single mom around the women in my mom's side plus all my moms female friends), it's a lot more comforting knowing one can talk about personal issues with women, but in cases like this womens' over-socialization complex backfires on them and they easily can make too much of nothing. Unless this situation is coupled with other acts of similar nature where you can draw the same assured conclusion, my personal advice is that he know the gift wasn't what you want, but let it go.

    Questions about friendship post surgery

In my case I'm lucky in that my wife and I a few years ago moved across Canada. Undoubtedly when I visit my family and in-laws there will be many questions and shock about my weight drop. While I'm very social, my wife isn't really an outgoing person. She prefers to keep to us, our daughter, and some of her old friends back in Ontario. I know plenty of people from both work and college but I prefer to keep those things separate from private life. So for us we don't really encounter those situations. Besides that, my wife is Chinese, and her family is already accustomed to me hating their food (I hate like 98% of food which I'm sure makes many people wonder how I got fat in the first place) so me avoiding their dinners and eating out beforehand won't be anything new.
