Does VSG really need Bariatric vitamins vs. regular chewable?
PatientEleventyBillion replied to Seraya's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Beyond the GMO/NSF or gluten paranoia, for "bioavailability".. chewables or liquid. Easy. -
The first problem for OP was using Facebook. Social media is a pure example of the shift of the populace to polarization, and the proverbial chopping their nuts off in the inability of handling opinions they don't like or are offended by. The lesson to be learned from that is plenty of people will act stupid, it's your job to ensure you aren't. If people don't like hearing or reading opinions that offend them, that's their problem. The body doesn't respond whatsoever to being PC. It responds to lifestyle changes.

Need list of high protein foods

When Did You Eat Pizza?
PatientEleventyBillion replied to Lollyx3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ever since pre-op diet started I've done this.. only eat the toppings and sauce. Dough made from virtually all pizza joints is entirely carbs, and if you eat more than one slice you're talking pasta levels of carbs. If making at home can use a substitute like almond flour, if you must have crust. However, most of the taste for me is in everything but the crust, so I can do without. Just one of many subtle ways of eliminating carbs from my diet. Another is having my burgers without buns. -

Losing Weight
PatientEleventyBillion replied to Bri24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you been tracking what you've been eating? How many calories a day? Carbs? Protein? That would be a good start. -
I think fantasizing about other people is perfectly fine. But if one feels compelled to take it a step further and cheat, or try other things, they should examine the relationship they're in, presuming it's monogamous. Monogamy isn't natural anyways. But, when one marries a person, whether you want to call it a religious bonding or a contract, it's something to be 100% honest about, with yourself and your partner. There's nothing wrong per se with that desire to be with other people, but it would be fair to the partner to end the relationship first. Rest assured if my wife had cheated on me (and I caught it or she told me), that would have broken our marriage contract and that would have been the end of it, no questions asked. Likewise, if I ever felt compelled to be with anyone else I'd tell her first. Don't see it as an issue really.. while we've been married 7 years, I'm perfectly happy and apparently so is she. While it's commendable OP (who may be gone after this post which was done like 8 months ago) found a way to counselling after cheating, if I was the guy I'd not have bothered. If one is willing to try out other fish in the sea it's only fair the other person have that chance as well, and since I'm not willing to cheat in a relationship I entered into with a sole person, only makes sense to break it off.

Hubby says " you aren't the one that has to be attracted to you" ..., WHAT?
PatientEleventyBillion replied to Dknal2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's actually interesting because I was warned by the Weight Management program that surgery has resulted for many in soured relationships, and they did an interview of me without my wife (she was not only extremely supportive of my program and surgery being done this month but attended numerous appointments and classes with me to see what she can help with since she likes cooking for me) to ensure there was no spousal abuse or anything else going on (as a general precaution). She took it in stride but I'd be irritated as hell about that. So it's only fair I support her in her efforts to lose weight. While she's apparently not fat enough for the WM program here, she's 5'3 206 (120 before having our daughter) with PCOS, and rest assured I'll be with her every step of the way cheering her on the same as she was for me. It's the least I can do. I think getting back in shape may raise some people's expectations and standards, having them realize that such a relationship is cumbersome or lonely. Misery loves company. -

What to bring to hospital?
PatientEleventyBillion replied to lhvpac's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hospital I'm at is super restrictive so what I'm gonna do is bring two bags: first, a duffle bag full of condoms, sex toys, and whiskey shot packets so when they look in the second bag, stuff I actually want to bring, they'll be like.. well this isn't half as bad. I think it would satisfy the intake nurses of their desire to have power over someone to be able to tell me no to the duffle bag, but not fight with me afterwards about the phone, tablet, pillow, anti-fart strips, etc. -
Spouse says to stop losing weight
PatientEleventyBillion replied to customademe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Problem is, BMI alone is not an indicator of health.. using BMI by itself as an indicator of health would be counterproductive. Things that are diagnosed on the side of BMI as indicators: - Lifestyle issues (such as mobility, pain, quality of life) - Comorbidities (liver disease, diabetes, anemia, heart disease, etc.) Before I gained weight I had a BMI of 30 because I was quite muscular. No useful doctor would have told me to lower my BMI into this "range". Health Canada is actually in the stages of changing this correlation of BMI and health because of the over-reliance upon BMI as indicators of health when it's quite counterproductive to this intention. -
Spouse says to stop losing weight
PatientEleventyBillion replied to customademe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
To reiterate what others are saying here, and there's some very logical advice.. your goal should be to be healthy. Don't focus so much on the weight number (meaning ignore your demand for a weight number and your husbands advice based on weight), because it's only partially useful. When you're eating healthy, exercising, and living the lifestyle of a healthier, smaller person, your weight will adjust accordingly, and what your body wants you to be at with this healthy lifestyle, there's no reason to fight that. -
A little worried
PatientEleventyBillion replied to msdr1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's no way to know. The odds of needing a revision whether it be complications, reflux, etc. is fairly low, but it still does happen. Can't avoid the risks. Just do what you can to mitigate any complications that could be caused by yourself. I have moderate reflux (GERD) and am going with 3 surgeons' advice to get the VSG done, with a revision option a year down the road (I believe it would be more like 2 or 3 but we'll see) to RNY. I too worry about getting worse reflux and the staging of esophageal damage but generally people can also take PPI's to help mitigate this by default. -
