So this may be obvious since I’m just shy of 3 weeks post up after the sleeve but want to make sure it’s nothing more. I’m having some muscle pains as I reach and move certain ways where my largest incision is. I want to say it’s just the muscle because I’m able and comfortable doing more and maybe I did to much too soon. Anyone have any experiences with this? I’ve done super well the past week so this feeling is kind of new. I have been taken some ibuprofen to take some of the pain away but it’s not unbearable. Thanks in advance!

Nauseous after eating, 1 month post op
HealthierMe2017 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I just ate dinner 20 minutes ago and I’m super nauseous. I was sleeved on October 24th. I have been fine eating until right now. I may have ate too much but felt it too late. I’m scared to throw up but feel like it’s the only thing that will make me feel any better. Is it dangerous for me to throw up? -
So Wednesday marks a full 2 weeks since surgery. Per my surgeon, I can’t have soft or puréed foods until the 15th.. but I want to eat! I just want to chew something but can only have broths and protein shakes. Did any one else experience this? Any suggestions?
-
Thank you! I’m happy to hear some one at the same spot as me! I can’t have yogurt yet that I have been told just clear liquids, broth and sf jello. Broth and jello is like my treats or dinner then I have protein shakes. I’m still struggling by happy to have one week left til puréed!

I haven’t had any complications... it’s the phases they follow when I attended the classes. I have to drink 2-4 8 oz protein shakes a day plus work toward 64 oz of water or sugar free beverages. I’m doing pretty good with it. They just added protein shakes last Thursday. I’m just struggling to eating anything. Like I just want something...

What broths do you like? I’m 8 days out and trying to find some variety .. -
I am on day 8 today and just had my first bowel movement yesterday. I didn’t have any discomfort or anything so my surgeon said not to be alarmed

summer ‘18 surgery??? people under 30?
HealthierMe2017 replied to saygrace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So the upper gi was super simple, I was in the office maybe 2 hours total and that was for registration, prep and after. I don’t remember any of it but I had no issues once the anesthesia wore off. Also the psych appointment I had this morning was easy too, he was super easy to talk to, and the questions were just every day things. Happy early birthday!!!! I have to lose weight to show that I’m dedicated to the program and success. I’m trying my best but it’s very difficult. I have read so much on this app and other apps, websites, articles etc that have educated me and help me through this process. My family is also very supportive which is helping me a lot. I am happy to know someone else on about the same timeline as me!! -
summer ‘18 surgery??? people under 30?
HealthierMe2017 replied to saygrace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I am 22, have pcos and have always been overweight. I started this journey last year and got denied by my current insurance company. January I got a new insurance and have been working toward surgery since. Tomorrow is my psych appointment and then in two weeks I visit the surgeon and hope to get a tentative surgery date for july. I’m super anxious. I have to lose a little weight before surgery which is very hard, obviously that’s why we’re all here.. seems we’re the same age, I’ll answer any questions you might have if I can! -
So I visited the surgeon just the other day and turns out I have six months to lose 11 pounds.. doesn’t sound like much but I struggle greatly losing weight. I lose weight in two ways... phentermine and not eating at all. I’m nervous to go on an extreme diet lose the 11 pounds and lose even more during the pre op liquid diet. Any recommendations? Advice? Similar stories?

Have to lose weight before surgery?
HealthierMe2017 replied to HealthierMe2017's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I haven’t heard of that either! I’m happy to hear you were able to lose that weight! I’m able to lose on it but as soon as I stop it I gain it back and then some! Phentermine is definitely not something to live on. My PCP prescribes it to push me to continue doing healthy and exercise changes and be able to see weight come off as a motivator. After 15 pounds it completely stopped doing anything at all. Do you have a surgery date? -

Thanks everyone! Just trying to get advice and some encouragement. Thankfully I don’t eat very much bad food I just am not able to stop eating once I start. I’m gonna try to come up with a reasonable plan to follow! I want to try and lose it on my own without phentermine to help stick to healthy eating and because I can’t sleep on phentermine. Thanks again everyone and good luck to each of you also! -

I’m sorry I posted here for some advice yes. I have pcos and high cholesterol. 11 pounds is per my insurance, I’m afriad of losing to much and not qualifying. Phentermine helps me lose but once I stop it I gain in all back and then some, that’s my fear. -

Has anyone had Maryland Medicaid cover their Gastric Sleeve surgery? I can not find any information regarding the benefits.

Hello! I am looking for some helpful advise on maintaining good eating habits! I am just at the beginning stages and meet with the surgeon for the first time next week. I have started to really watch what I eat just trying to eat healthier and drink more water! I am 21 and I know that I need to create these life long habits now if I want to keep the weight off. Do you have any advice on the best way to still satisfy the cravings or hunger but eat better? Also, after surgery, can you enjoy a small bite of ice cream at a birth day party or mashed potatoes, in moderation?

Hey everyone! My name is Katie and I'm just beginning this Gastric Sleeve adventure. I went to a required seminar and was given some questions to ask my insurance company. They were: what is the required bmi, how many nutrition visits are required and how many physicians visits. So the insurance company said that these limits didn't exist I just needed a pre authorization for surgery. I contacted the surgeons office to see if this sounded right and they said that the surgeon will tell me the required length or time and bmi. Does anyone have an idea if this sounds right? All the reading I've done I expected to hear 35 to 40 bmi, and 90 days or six months of nutrition and physician appointments. Does this mean my insurance might not have these limits or the surgeons office will tell me the requirements??

Unfortunately, I was wrong [emoji20]. I am borderline BMI requirements and have to have an additional comorbidity to qualify. I'm currently waiting for my sleep study results which will make or break this journey for me.. -
Could I be denied if my BMI goes down?
HealthierMe2017 replied to KaiserKid's topic in Insurance & Financing
I know how you feel!! I have at 35.5 bmi and am depending on sleep apnea to get approved by insurance. I just completed the test last night. I am a wreck I can't stop thinking about it. I'm only on my first month, if I don't have sleep apnea I'll be stuck -

AAMC or Maryland Sleevers?!
HealthierMe2017 replied to HealthierMe2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well doing it myself and talking with my pcp, my bmi was 37 and I have high cholesterol and polycystic ovarian syndrome. I have read many things that said this qualifies me. However today the surgeon said my bmi is 35.5 and I am going for a sleep apnea test to sleep if I have sleep apnea.. -

I'm sort of discouraged after my first appointment.. I did a lot of reading that I'd qualify with my PCOS and turns out it doesn't... I have to get my labs and sleep apnea test completed asap to see if my insurance will approve me.. trying to stay positive [emoji17] -
