I'm a week out too and I can do more volume of a Protein shake or broth than a cream Soup. Maybe it's the consistency! I think it's just our bodily trial and error. My only full liquid venture today was a restaurant size (smaller) cup of tomato basil soup but I felt really light headed afterwards cause I managed to finish it and maybe I shouldn't have. It could be maybe I was sitting next to a fire too and just needed fresh air! Or the stress of putting something different in my body who knows! Just go slow! It's good to know I can still enjoy something I like just in a smaller quantity without being all gluttonous about it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Period related question for female sleevers
sasharbinx posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey gals, So I've had this issue ever since I got my first period because (according to my doctors) I've been overweight. Although I wasn't that overweight as a teenager, I had gained into my twenties and let me tell you, I have never had a consistent period. Maybe a dozen times over the years. I'm 24 now and I'm at 275. It will only regulate if I take birth control but I'm not on it right now because I'm not sexually active for the time being and I also don't want to have it mess with me trying to lose weight. Had anyone else been in the same boat and did it come back post op after significant weight loss? People always tell me check my thyroid but its fine. Wondering if I have PCOS or something. I also have thin hair which sucks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
New here and getting sleeved in the morning...
sasharbinx replied to time4change2017's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on EST, so it's 4:30am here and I have to be at the hospital at 12:30 today. I feel the same way. I can't sleep. What couple of hours that I did get in, I was having crazy dreams. Good Luck to you and speedy recovery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Good luck to you too! And I guess if you're not sleeping now you definitely will be later today/ or at least you'll be knocked out. I'm a few days post op and can't sleep myself cause I'm caught up reading about sleeve related things! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thank you. How are you doing/feeling post op? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Day six and I've been approved to move to full liquids! Alls well! No probs, just need to get the hang of when I'm full without feeling too full! My doc prescribed me codine/Tylenol syrup immediately out of the hospital which according to my dad, a pharmacist, works just like a strong cough suppressant. I wouldn't see an issue with most over the counter cold med brands but I'd check with your pharmacist! Plus you're a month out so I wouldn't be so worried about the healing staples. Feel betta! Pre-op liquid diet and hospital bag

For me it was a book. I never had the chance since I was so sedated on pain meds for most of my stay! My own pillow was definitely worth bringing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Complications from advancing diet too soon
sasharbinx replied to Frenchie1977's topic in Rants & Raves
I'm not a vet yet, no. I'm a noob. But I took what you and others had to say very respectfully and I have responded with grace. So you're comments a very much welcome just not the parts where you sound like you're on a condescending power trip about new people like me that ventured to try half slice of cheese before they ought to have or the girl who tried a broccoli cheese Soup. I took this rant seriously and have chosen to move on without issue. Newbies like myself are great and everyone learns from mistakes (or they die ultimately if not). It's simply work in progress for everyone. Everyone has been instructed differently and adhered to them in their own way. It is rightful to be concerned and upset but at the same time serves no good if we're gonna be harsh to one another and make assumptions about one another and about one representing all. Peace man, peace. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Complications from advancing diet too soon
sasharbinx replied to Frenchie1977's topic in Rants & Raves
If I die I die. I hope half deli slice of cheese gets me on 1000 ways to die! lol but there will definitely not be any errors on my part after this and very hopefully if nothing comes of this in a weeks time I can continue to be lighthearted as I am always fully of mischief and giggles. I had to be a risk taker to get the surgery in the first place. Now the steaks are raised by a just a little bit. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm sorry for your loss. I have big time guilt and your concern or expression of annoyance speaks to me if it's worth anything. I'm for sure going to fess up to my doctor on my follow up about my half slice of cheese at day 5. I don't think it's ok for me to cheat anymore just cause I chewed really good and seem to have digested it fine and I don't condone anyone else do the same. I was just posting honestly because this has been very difficult! But no it's not worth dying from complications. And well what's done is done, at least your cautionary tale is a driving factor in my will not to stray again and in fact you may have saved my life in doing so. What's weird is i loved vanilla premier shakes before surgery and afterwards it seemed gross to me. Back on chocolate. Wish they sold the caramel flavor at costco Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yes! The kind I have comes in a capsule. I bought them before surgery when I figured my Fiber intake would lower going on a liquid diet! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I take a Fiber supplement and have had a light but regular bowel movement by day 5, no more diarrhea. I suggest that if you aren't taking it already Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How I overcame the fear of wls was realizing that I'm a risk taker, you have to be one if you're going to do this! And also that you are not alone. Hopefully you have your loved ones on board and definitely your medical team behind you as well as all of us on BariatricPal. Take comfort in knowing you are helping yourself to live better and longer and happier too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well tune any unsupporting people out. What matters most is that you support you. It's up to you ultimately. You're doing something really good for yourself and not for anyone else. That's what I realized myself although I'm grateful I have my whole immediate fam on board anyway. It felt so good to do this for me knowing it's a big leap of faith in the right direction.
