3 week post op loss ?
sleevinpops replied to snapy17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just curious, are you walking too? Just reducing the food intake is only a part of the change. Make sure you are getting steps in each day. Try to walk for at least 5 minutes each hour of the day. This will get you an hour of walking over 12 hours. I also agree with waitingonthenewme, decrease the carbs. Don't look at the scale and focus how you are feeling. -
Still go, just portion size will be smaller. It's all about getting your mind ready to work with the new body. They should be ready to celebrate you. Your gonna do great!

Eating Crap And Still Losing - Utterly Lost And Confused....Game Changer!
sleevinpops replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think you need to talk with your psych and nut. Everyone has suggested getting back too healthy eating, but you still seem to be looking for someone to tell you it's ok to eat the crap....I think you know the answer yourself, but are reluctant to hear or face it. You took a major step with the surgery, lost a ton of weight, beat the drinking, you have the ability to stay healthy, so choose the healthier -
3 days out, remorseful, worried and depressed
sleevinpops replied to Jamesarwin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have you started vitamins yet? That may also help -
You may want to try elevating your head in bed, or take the zantac or heartburn relief tablet later in the day to get you through the night. Check with the doc too

Chai tea - pre op
sleevinpops replied to Peepers444's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just be sure it is caffeine free, it should be ok. ( I'm actually having a cup right now, it is delicious!) -
We have gone through a pretty significant change, and while we prepared for some time before hand, it is now a reality. You need to remember all of the reasons that you made the decision, think about all of the things in life you have wanted to do, but before may not have been able to. This is a lifestyle change, which in the long run, will be worth it. Walking has been a great solution to a lot of the gas and pain during recovery. Try to walk 15 minutes every hour. Wishing you all the best!

3 days out, remorseful, worried and depressed
sleevinpops replied to Jamesarwin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
James, after such change to your body, it is not uncommon to feel like you do. Keep focused on the reasons you did this and the positive changes that are to come. 18 pounds is a great start, and while the weight loss will be great in the long run, think about all of the things you will be able to do that was difficult before. What are some things that you have always wanted to do before but haven't been able to? Keep positive, your gonna do great! By the way, walking has been the best thing for my gas. Keep moving! -
How many steps on fitbit?
sleevinpops replied to Carol94303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Carol, the Fitbit is great. But start by just trying to walk 10 minutes each hour. You will be amazed how many steps you'll get in! If you get a Fitbit, I'm in a group of other sleevers that have regular step challenges. If you want to join in, friend me on Fitbit at vban@charter.net -

I had ( still have a little) the same thing. My surgeon and pic both said it was from laying on the flat surgical table so long. My chiropractor agrees as well. Take some Tylenol for now, no adjustments for at least 6 weeks tho. Walking helps a bit and I also got a back massager that helps too.

How do you manage changing clothing sizes?
sleevinpops replied to Phoinixe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thrift stores are great. Not only can you find some clothes really cheap but think of all the steps walking around while shopping! I was able to get 2 jackets, three pants and a few polo shirts for about $20! After dry cleaning I'm still under $50 for everything! -
How long is hospital stay?
sleevinpops replied to ThickGirl5683's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One night and home next day at 4:00pm. Pack very light...comfortable clothes , pillow for car, robe and slippers, bio teen for dry mouth. They will give you toiletries and gas relief. Good luck! -
My nut told me to consider the net carbs as they are carbs that pass through (like fiber) and not absorbed into the body. Ask your nutritionist to verify though.

I cannot decide if I should do this or not
sleevinpops replied to BeachMommy2Girls's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had similar background...high blood pressure, apnea, cholesterol and pre diabetic when I finally made the decision. After years of struggling with weight, I did not want to die of a heart attack and not be there for my wife and especially my kids. The surgery is not a quick decision to make, and remember, it is only a tool to help change your lifestyle and improve your health. I am now two weeks post surgery, feeling great and already prior meds have been cut in half. I go for sleep test in late March and god willing, will no longer need CPAP. This was my experience, I wish you all the best while making yours. -
Hello everyone new to the group
sleevinpops replied to MrBiggz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi mrbiggz, congratulations on your decision, and what a great motivation to improve your health! Good luck along the journey, we look forward to supporting along the way! -
Stretching is going to be key. Before and after the workout, spend at least 10 minutes stretching. When you workout, remember it is to just about fatigue, don't over do it. Light weight, slow easy and multiple repetitions. Focus on breathing and form while you do it.

How did you handle telling your work?
sleevinpops replied to Jnette1979's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You don't have to tell them anything. You will come back slightly smaller, but you might be losing weight before surgery too. You'll be eating smaller and healthier, and they will see it
