You might be a WLS patient when...
pvechiola replied to Who'sThere's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Really can it ever be possible that me, myself or I will only be able to eat only a few bites of anything let alone dessert??I am learning to eat protein and I watch the show " my 600 lb life ", I am paying very close attention to everything they do like what they eat on the 800 calorie diet and no snacking at all. Only three meals a day and that's it.I know it's gonna be a long journey but I have to do this. I'm 4'11" and I weighed 238, I have gotten down to 210 and I just started buying some chicken drumsticks that I can prepare by baking. I usually only eat white meat but it gets too dry for me to eat .I'm still pre op I have gotten all the tests done I only have three more nutritionist classes, may last one is in March, so my surgery will probably be in April or May. I can't wait til I can actually eat something and feel full instead of my crazy overeating of everything. I am a work in progress. -
I was using body fortress advanced whey chocolate 60 gms protein
-
OK thanks, have any suggestions for a halfway decent protein shake?
-
Can you tell me which protein shake you used and how did it taste and did you add anything to them to help the taste?
-
Can we make these items at home or are we required to buy their brand, I'm not sure I can afford these.

Letting go things I love
pvechiola replied to Sunshine4247's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three and a half years out and I have a glass of wine or two pretty regularly. I can't eat a whole sandwich, but I can usually eat most of a half if I take the top bread off, and I have a leftover half for the next day. As for pizza? I can eat a slice of thin crust, but I usually choose just to eat the toppings. and a bite of crust. I can do all of the above while wearing my size 8 skinny jeans, or a tankini at the pool without feeling self conscious. I can wear heels all day without killing my feet. I can shop at any store now and I can buy clothes off the rack without trying them on. So no, I've lost nothing but gobs of fat. The ginormous quantities of food? I don't miss that at all. It's nice to know that I will be able to eat a small portion and feel full. I overeat everything!! Until now I never held myself accountable for my eating habits. Now I think about everything before I eat it and decide if that's what I want to use my caloric intake for. I still catch myself trying to stop from binging and it's very hard because it seems like the food makes me feel comfortable until I'm done and sick to my stomach. Did anyone else have this problem before surgery, sometimes I worry that the surgery won't help me either and my mom says it's all in my head and I don't need surgery, I know she's very misinformed and won't even read more about it because she is just adamant about me not to have the wls. I am doing it anyway, because either way I will never know what I could possibly accomplish unless I give it a try. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App -
Letting go things I love
pvechiola replied to Sunshine4247's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love how you put what you're saying into ways I can understand it since this is all new to me. When the Dr told me I still had to lose weight while waiting for my surgery I felt completely defeated like that would never happen. I then thought about it and decided to try baby steps. First I quit eating after 6 pm. That was hard and I never realized how much I ate at night until everytime I wanted to go and eat thinking I was hungry. Second I am watching my Protein intake and trying to memorize the right things to eat to stay balanced. Third I am reading all of the posts on this and learning from all of you that have already done this and are learning how to remake life when it comes to food. Please keep texting so I can learn I should have a date sometime in April or May and while I am scared to do it I am going to lose weight and I am going to lose some before and after surgery. My mom is Italian and it's very hard for her to watch me turning down meals when she cooks , she hates the idea of me having this surgery at all and I am just going to do it whether she supports me or not.TYFS Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App -
A vain NSV story.
pvechiola replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great post I loved reading it and wasn't that long. First this Shelby person is an idiot, some people love to make others feel terrible just because they live a miserable life. Remember misery loves company, those are the kinda people I would love to knock out. I was bullied a lot in junior hs, and I just can't believe people can be so cruel and she's a rude bitch her and her little friend deserve each other. I really hate bullies they are just mean people.Don't let them ruin your new found body and wear some fancy, sassy clothes so you can show off what you are working for and she is the fat one now.LOL Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App -
I am so happy I'm not in a relationship right now it seems like people that surround us are the enemy and the ones who should support us the most. Larry978 you're 100% correct if they can't support you no matter what you're going through you don't need them in your life. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App

Put your skinny jeans on and walk that runway, lol, my mom said I should be able to lose weight with exercise and no nite eating but, I joined planet fitness and I worked hard all summer to try to lose, I put my surgery off for two years trying to get my weight down. I am so sorry I let my family talk me out of it. Now I'm miserable, I still try to be active and go to the gym and watch what I eat. My surgeon said the fat around our waistline is hormonal and with the surgery it changes everything. I am taking charge of my surgery. I had to get a breast reduction just so I could exercise, I was more miserable than I am now, my back and neck pain were off the charts. I am now beginning to have actual body pain and I think it's because my body is having a hard time moving with all the weight on me. I now know I need this surgery to keep me from having Co-morbidities later down the road. Don't listen to nay sayers , you know what's right for you and don't doubt yourself my whole family is against this but I can't live another day in this body I am constantly in pain lately . It's catching up to me very quickly, I have a friend who's sister had the wls and a breast reduction surgery like me, even the breast reduction made me feel like I was in heaven I was so happy when I did that it's the best thing I have ever done. I was a 42J and now I'm a 42D much more comfortable. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App

I'm not sure if you have a dollar tree store, I struggle with constipation since forever I use the laxative from dollar tree and I take a few about every few days they really help and they're only a dollar. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App I also tried all the Metamucil crap and m.o.m. and sennakot, the little laxative works wonders Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App

You can't just live life without buying some junk food for your family especially if you have children, I have to make myself accountable for everything I eat or not eat, exercise or not, I am thinking of starting a hobby that helps, maybe puzzles and it keeps mind off of the time you used to eat. Great answer I am divorced and I am so happy I'm not married, but my mom supports me losing weight but not the surgery, no matter where you go everyone is going to have advice, comments, eat food we can't or shouldn't eat and have opinions we really don't want to hear, and some will stop talking to us but this is a life changing surgery so focus on being strong and determined to make your choice for you and only you. Good luck you will be good. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App

Family and friend rejection
pvechiola replied to logen000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told them first I was thinking about it and gradually told them oh yeah my nutrition classes start and eventually told them I was definitely having the surgery. So I gave them a little info at a time to make it easier for them to absorb and it worked pretty good, now they know I am not changing my mind. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App -
Family and friend rejection
pvechiola replied to logen000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mom was so opposed to the surgery I decided not to have it, now after almost 2 years I still lose and gain the same 20-25 lbs all day everyday, I am back to my nutrition classes and have about four months to go. My mom is acting like she's going to disown me but she's my best friend and she's just scared and won't change her mind but I am not doing this for her and she isn't the one carrying around an extra 80 - 100 lbs every day. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App Thats exactly how i feel ! Im so sorry you feel it too ! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App Yes it's a bummer but when she sees how much happier and healthier I am after recuperating she still won't admit that I did the right thing some thing about Italians they are so stubborn!! We call this the 'fine china' in our house...reserved for highfalutin' guests that we get from time to time Hahahahaha! Mrs. LittleBill refers to the carton of half and half as our "cut glass pitcher" when she puts it out on the table after dinner. Yeah, I'm going to be living it up tonight. Feet up, volume up, drinking Ensure right from the bottle and throwing the empties on the floor. Hey, don't forget to crush the cans on your forehead before throwing them on the floor, then all you need are peanuts where you can throw shells on the floor with some sawdust, jk don't eat peanuts. LOL You are alot of fun to chat with. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App

Question about Drains & Foley's
pvechiola replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've had a few surgeries and I've experienced both but I kinda think the pain is more of a mindset, the Foley gets irritating and causes some discomfort , I also experienced the Foley wasn't working . I told the nurse I didn't think it was working because it felt like I had to pee. She wouldn't even consider that it might be clogged or kinked or in a bad position, when they took it out I definitely felt better after using a bed pan. I had a drain put in on my right side when they took out my gallbladder it just feels weird but I never had problems with it . I do think it's hard to move around when you have a drainage put in but didn't hurt going in or out. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App
