Don't let anyone take away your excitement, especially your family. My mother won't support me or go to the hospital when inhale this surgery so I avoid talking to her about it. I'm doing this because it's the right thing for me and no one else's opinion matters. Good luck you'll do wonderful -
Thank you that's what I thought just wanted to be sure.

I think we are so quick to get discouraged when at the time we first started we would of died for a 30 lb weight loss and the minute we slow means we need to up our exercise game that's another part of our tools, everything is just a tool, not a crutch. -

That's great because I know you'll have a lot of answers to my questions, I would first like to say my nutritionist wants me to use Atkins Advantage shakes 5per day for one of, I've heard that premium shakes taste alot better, and they are 30 gms of protein, they are 160 calories, only ten more calories than Atkins, 1 gm sugar, low-rate, and 24 vitamins and minerals . The Atkins shakes only have 15 gms of protein. Is it OK if I make this switch and can you tell me what I should know for my pre op diet, they say five shakes a day will I even be able to drink all of that?? Seems since I've been trying to eat protein I get nauseous when I eat any thing sugary, is this all normal? -

1 year out and 7 months pregnant :\
pvechiola replied to cuchas's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
One year out you should be fine with the pregnancy but I would tell the doctor. I had my uterus prolapse and they fixed it with major surgery and I was pregnant within two months of surgery. But the weight can get out of hand quickly as we all know so I would ask for help. -
She won't be there for me but I am blessed with some very great friends that support me fully so I'll be just fine. Thank you to all my supporters out there.

My mom is dead set on trying to keep me from having this surgery and I am dead set on doing it. She knows a woman at her work who knows someone that died from the surgery. I suspect she is asking the same person everyday at her work and just keeps telling me the same story everytime. I'm going to my one support group requirement tonight and after that I have a nutrition class on the 20th of Jan and only two classes left after January. All nay sayers aside, I can't wait. I have noticed that since I started eating more protein anything sweet I eat makes me nauseous.

Yes I have completely quit discussing it with her, I even went and purchased my pre-op shakes while she was at work. It's better not to even begin to talk about it with her. I have my friends and they are very supportive, one is even going to sit in the hospital with me so I can get it done. I'm gonna be great at this I'm practicing more every day to add Water and liquids that are good for me . Thanks for all the support. I really need your help and support.

Share your pre-op diet?
pvechiola replied to algarf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It might be costs for nutrition classes I have to pay for them. I have Aetna better health insurance. I also have to purchase Protein shakes, five shakes per day for my pre op to help the liver shrink so they can see the stomach better. -
I was told to get the Atkins advantage shakes for my pre op liquid diet. I have read everywhere that premium protein is the best tasting so I checked and premium shakes have 160 calories, and 60 grams of protein, 1gram sugar, and 5 carbs, Atkins has 150 calories , 15 grams of protein, 1gram sugar, 1 gram net carbs. They said I could use another product as long as they had same components of the Atkins, and I'm getting 30 grams of protein with premium. I've heard it tastes good which is why I bought premium, can anyone tell me if I am doing the right thing ?

What is wrong with literal overly sensitive assholes?
pvechiola replied to xoxococojay's topic in Rants & Raves
Don't let them get to you I a newby and I am trying so hard to read everything I can to educate myself and research what I am planning for my body to go thru. There is always one in the group who casts dismay over others. You should be proud that you tried to educate some people, this group has no place for people who don't want to learn.
