Thinking About Gastric Sleeve Surgery
pvechiola replied to MelissaRose24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've really been having doubts about having this surgery, my family is totally against me having it. I figured I'd start the nutrition classes and at least learn how to eat right but all the posts I've read have been really positive. I'm looking forward to surgery now and can't wait. Thinking About Gastric Sleeve Surgery
pvechiola replied to MelissaRose24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Uh, weight loss surgery isn't just for old people, you know. Sometimes it's the best option, no matter what your age. What a silly thing to say? Evidently you can't interpret what you read because I said I didn't know her health issues nor did I know how long she had been trying to lose her weight. I simply stated that at 28 if she isn't liking exercise and sensible eating than wls is not a good choice because a young woman at 28 should really make surgery a last resort. Next time read something over before you open your big mouth. This is a life altering surgery and everyone can't make the changes this surgery requires. I was just letting her know her options.Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App Let's start throwing out personal attacks! Awesome way to support your viewpoint! That said, I wish I'd done this at 28. I lost 80 with WWs at that age, gained it back. Lost 88 with phentermine at 33, gained it back. Lost 60 with exercise at 36, gained it back. Lost 112 three and a half years ago with WLS. Maintaining like a dream. That's great , I kept up going to the gym and trying to watch portion control and I also keep gaining and losing also. Because my mom is so against this surgery I put it off. Finally I had to tell her I decided to have it done because it's not getting better on it's own. It's encouraging to hear that there is hope thanks for sharing. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App -

For those of you who did not have "food funerals":
pvechiola replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having my surgery in May and I had realized that this is the last holidays I will be able to eat like this. So I ate alot of sweet potatoes my favorite and still because of paying more attention to Protein I actually lost a lb. New Years was different because of my love of egg nog and nutmeg. I knew the eggnog would hurt me but I have kinda been making my funeral arrangements one food item at a time. I am so glad the holidays are over for now but I will be interested in seeing how much my eating will change after surgery, this should be interesting! Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App Nothing stopping you from changing your eating now. The goal is to lose weight.....start now....no need to wait around for the surgery to do so. The surgery is not magic. You will still be able to eat sweet potatoes and drink egg nog and have a bunch of other junk food post op if you choose to do so. It's never to early to put good practices into place. Yes I am putting better food choices but the topic was about giving certain foods a funeral and I thought that's kinda what I did over the holidays this year realizing next year it will be a whole nother ballgame but you're right I am learning how to implement better choices so I can loose before my surgery. Thank you Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App -

Thinking About Gastric Sleeve Surgery
pvechiola replied to MelissaRose24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're a very pretty YOUNG lady and at only 28 I'm pretty sure at your age you might be able to get your weight down by eating sensibly and walking, I am 55 and I have been trying for 10 years to get my weight off. I wish I was 28 again there are so many other ways besides weight loss surgery for you. I don't know your health matters or how long you've been trying to lose but if I was 28 I would try exercise over surgery any day. Good luck with whatever road you take, my daughter loves dance and she dropped at least 80 lbs doing Zumba and she was right about the age you are now when she got serious. Good luck. I completely agree with you on that one, I haven't had my surgery yet and I get excited to loose one pound, I'm eagerly awaiting my surgery I am 4'11" and I was 238 and in ten years I have only been able to get to 175 and then gained and lost til now and I am up to 210 so that's what helped me make my decision to have sleeve surgery. People forget how easy it is to gain the weight and they think it should come off easier, it doesn't and I would feel happy with whatever weight loss I can loose with my surgery. I am finishing up all my prerequisites and hoping to get it done in May. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App

I've got alot of experience in abusive relationships, if a man hits you once he will do it again and again. Remember when God closes one door another one opens, think of yourself as very special because you can start over, that's being lucky, not spending time with a man who puts his hands on you. You're very lucky most women never get out. Best wishes on your journey, you're gonna have a blast. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App Don't just document with pictures of bruises and injuries, also call the police, if you have to hide a cell phone somewhere safe so you can get to it without him causing more problems that is a great idea, also counseling and anger management rarely work. I really will be praying for your safety and so that whatever your decision is you make the right choice for you. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App

Hi! Questions for sleeved persons
pvechiola replied to Angelica Marti's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't answer all your questions but I know a few people who have had the sleeve surgery. First my Dr's gave me a book about metabolic surgery and Bariatrician care. I have read everywhere that the wls can keep you from getting diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol and heart disease. This is why the surgery helps with severe obesity, and the co-morbidities ties that affect all the major organs of the body. It also helps with respiratory insufficiency, sleep apnea , reflux disease, stress urinary incontinence, low back pain . You will have to take Vitamins for life, get proper blood tests. The surgery is for life but alot of people slip around the five year mark and if not careful you could stretch out the stomach back to the way it was. That's alot of what's in my book and that's just the section on the risks of weight loss surgery. I hope this helps you. Good luck on your journey, I am probably having my surgery in May but that's right around the corner and I am excited, I have thought twice about it but whenever I see myself in a storefront window I virtually get disgusted with myself. You have to check out the library's in your area and read everything you can find then you can make your decision. I hope I've helped you. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App -
